Hi khani100 I am really sorry that you could not locate the book "Alafghan Tanoli" written by Ghlam Nabi Khan which was very much there on major shops of Mansehra city as I myself bought the one from Naeem books located on Shinkiari road. Probably it might be out of stock by now. Let me assure you that it is one of the four books exclusively written on Tanolis. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mastkhankhel (talkcontribs) 16:40, 11 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

User:Mastkhankhel, I have just seen, Im sorry to say, your vandalism of my User Page with your comments, which in fact should have been posted here below, at the bottom, properly. I will once again repeat that (a) Dorn's translation is highly unreliable and neither in 1829 nor in 1836 does he mention the so called 'issue' you talk about, maybe you have a spurious edition and (b) the Hazara Gazeteer I have from 1883 is also the original copy, and even if it were not, it is common sense that the order and structure of the book wouldnt be essentially changed or tampered with by any publisher so it follows naturally that no edition would have such a big difference i.e over 100 pages. And in addition, this edition of the Gazetteer makes no mention at all of the so=called 'facts' you mention. I hope I am sufficiently clear on this? Thanks Khani100 (talk) 17:11, 24 September 2014 (UTC)Khani100Reply

Proposed deletion of Omer tarin

edit

The article Omer tarin has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article. The nominator also raised the following concern:

All biographies of living people must be sourced to reliable sources.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Sorry

edit

Let me add my apologies for the incorrect tagging of an article you worked on. There are many upsides to the "anyone can edit" paradigm, but it does come with some downsides, namely that enthusiastic editors may make errors, and there is no bureaucratic filter to catch then in advance. However, we have a decent system for fixing them after the fact. As noted, the editor who tagged you is new, and we are discussing the need to take more care. I thanks you for your contributions, and hope you can look past this and continue to contribute.--SPhilbrickT 12:41, 14 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Capt. Shaukat Hyat Khan, during WWII, c.1942.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Capt. Shaukat Hyat Khan, during WWII, c.1942.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 07:05, 29 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Im sorry, maybe the fault is mine, am still not very 'tech-savvy' and completely at ease with the procedures for image addition to articles/pages etc. I have, however, also indicated in detail the copyright status on the Talk page of the concerned article where this image should go, i.e. Shaukat Hayat Khan and requested help from any editors/users who might be able to do so. File:Hakim Ahmad Shuja 1.JPG needs authorship information

edit
Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Hakim Ahmad Shuja 1.JPG appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|Khani100}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
  • If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.
If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:55, 30 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Urdu

edit

You can add text in Urdu using this type of code;

{{langx|ur|اردو}}

That would produce: Urdu: اردو

You could also use Template:Nastaliq (or another variety), to say which script it uses (in 'popup text' when you hover your mouse over it) - e.g.

{{langx|ur|{{Nastaliq|اردو}}}}

Makes: Urdu: اردو

If you have any problems, just put {{helpme}} here (on this page), and ask a question.  Chzz  ►  15:17, 30 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dear friends at Wikipedia, I would request you all, kindly, if you have any queries or comments or any other work/business related to any of my edits or actions here, to please leave me messages here or on the appropriate Talk Pages of elevant articles. Im sorry to say that over the last day or two, since I marked an article as 'Disputed' I have received some emails from some friends, trying to lobby/canvass certain views/opinions etc. I have, now, disabled my email contact settings. I would please like to repeat that I take the work of editing Wikpedia v seriously, and as a researcher and scholar, try to delve deeply and in depth into subjects of my interest and utilise reliable and verifiable sources -- its a slow and gradual process but I am committed in the long term to helping improve Wikipedia and making it truly outstanding. Thus, I would especially request those friends who dont agree with some of my edits that it would be preferable to discuss matters and if they must make their own edits/changes to articles, to please use only reliable/verifiable sources; and to please use at least a basicaly sound and proper English, in doing so. Otherwise, pages/articles are only likely to result in an unitelligible jumble of no use to any readers. Thank you. Khani100 04:30, 5 December 2011 (UTC)Khani100

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest

edit

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

I think the South Asian wiki community really needs people like you with professional level knowledge, and more importantly, people who know where to look for information! We have lots of rather disruptive edits, leading to frequent halts in article development. I hope I will be able to ask you for opinion or guidance if I some doubts on anything pertaining to South Asian history or socio-cultural topics. Galliat

edit

No, it didn't need to be deleted - it needed to be turned into a redirect to point to Galyat, and I've done so. As it's listed as an alternative spelling of Galyat, there should always have been a redirect from Galliat: both to help readers who are looking for it by the alternative term, and to prevent editors from accidentally re-creating it. Redirects are cheap, as they say, and it's always a good idea to provide redirects from all likely alternative versions of an article title. Sorry you've had to waste your time creating an unnecessary duplicate. PamD 23:16, 12 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Dear User:PamD, thank you! Im very grateful indeed! I believe that the fault is mine, actually, for not checking properly/making sure in the first place-- but I guess one learns from one's mistakes. . . Im very glad that at least the alternative spelling is still available as a redirect, since most of the old pre-1947 English/British references seem to favour the 'Galliat' version. More information about Maira Amjad Ali

edit

Per the closed AfD discussion for this article, an editor has stated that the correct English spelling for this village is: "Mera Amjad Ali", and the Urdu spelling for this village is: . Firstly, I'm not planning on changing the name of the article again at this time. What do you think about this interpretation? Please respond at your convenience. Bon Voyage

edit

Dear User:Khani100, thank you very much for your very kind email today, and your gracious words of praise and encouragement. I am sorry that you shant be coming online at Wikipedia, and are adamant --but I understand and appreciate the principle; and I also believe that no one person or persons can 'own' an article and make threats and or display overtly aggressive behaviour which would be both discourteous to other users and also unethical, in academic terms. But never mind, Wikipedia hs its strengths and weaknesses and things go on. Im very very happy for you, baitay, that youve obtained (and chosen to avail) the post-doctoral fellowship! Congratulations once again, and many good wishes and prayers for your success, and for all your early guidance and kindness and mentoring to familiarise me with the work here. I shall, also, certainly keep on tending to and diligently expanding some of the articles brought to my notice and shall go and get a selection of basic, recommended books from the library soon. Once again, many good wishes, safe journey and 'bon voyage' to you! Keep in touch. Yours sincerely, AsadUK200 (talk) 16:21, 28 April 2012 (UTC)AsadUK200Reply

re article Sikandar Hayat Khan (Punjabi politician) issues

edit

Dear WP Biog members, hello, with ref to the above article, pl refer to its talk page and history. For some time, Ive been now learning and working with this WP; and was also working on this particular article with some other occasional contributors/eds. In the past, small disrupts etc were no problem, we dealt with them but now, over the last 10-12 days weve had a lot of problmes/issues with an IP address user who has been making regular and bizarre incursions. Despite assuming good faith, and then repeating basic warnings etc on the user's talk page, nothing has resulted. It seems some sort of inter-family squabble relating to the subject's family/relations is going on on this article and its talk page, and v negative comments etc have been used; and all sorts of objections and threats issued. For some reason, these/this person/s are now involving/blaming us i.e the editors, and issuing us threats and ultimatums. Let me reiterate that this is still a stub/start level article, and alot of work is req and we are proceeding slowly and hope to build up a good article in time. However, now, I, at least, am rather stressed out and dont feel like returning to this article anymore--the fun and charm of the research and writing has gone. I would pl request your guidance and help, if possible. ThanksKhani100 (talk) 18:41, 21 April 2012 (UTC)Khani100 Regarding the above post on the WP:RFC/BOARD, if you are interested in soliciting additional comments, I would suggest you place an RFC template {{rfc|bio}} on the article talk page. Other users may be able to provide helpful feedback. For more information, please see WP:RFC. Coastside (talk) 13:13, 18 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:59, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppet investigation

edit

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Khani100, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.
