Overlinking

Hi King ChristLike - I have reverted a few of your edits, at Imo State and Port Harcourt, for overlinking - so I have come to explain the reason.
We do NOT link the article title, as this produces a circular link back to the top of same page.
As explained at ‎ WP:OVERLINKING we only link the first use of a term in an article, and we do not normally link:-

• Everyday words understood by most readers - such as "stream" and "project" in the Imo state article

• Names familiar to most readers, including;- major countries, major cities, major languages, major nationalities/ethnicities and major religions

• Common units of measurement and dates such as February in the Port Harcourt article

There are many articles where these are already, incorrectly, linked; however, we are trying to reduce this problem, not increase it - Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 11:25, 14 March 2022 (UTC)

Hello. Your recent edit to Chidi appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Yes, alternatively, I’m using a different network provider to make my edits but it’s a borrowed one and the connection is poor, not as smooth as mine. Image context

Howdy, Thank you for adding images to pages. Can you please add a caption to explain the image and place it in an appropriate place. On Matyáš Kopecký you just placed the image in the body when the info box would've been better. Also captions must accurately explain the image Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Captions and its significance. Paulpat99 (talk) 09:41, 30 August 2024 (UTC)

This is the problem with the #WPWP image spam contest- it encourages people to add lots of images, without assessing whether the images added are useful or well captioned. Joseph2302 (talk) 10:42, 30 August 2024 (UTC)

Leaving a figure caption in Russian in the English Wikipedia [1] was not really a smart idea. Please in the future slow down and make an effort to write reasonable captions in English. If this continues, editing restrictions might be in order. Ymblanter (talk) 20:29, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
