GOCE November drive wrap-up
Guild of Copy Editors November 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Thanks to all who participated! Out of 38 people who signed up this drive, 33 copy-edited at least one article. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. All the barnstars have now been distributed. Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing November and December 2011 from the backlog. For the first time since the drives began, the backlog consists only of articles tagged in the current year. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2690 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 56 requests outstanding before November 2012 as well as eight of those made in November. Copy Edit of the Month: Voting is now over for the October 2012 competition, and prizes have been issued. The November 2012 contest is closed for submissions and open for voting. The December 2012 contest is now open for submissions. Everyone is welcome to submit entries and to vote. Coodinator election: The six-month term for our fourth tranche of Guild coordinators will expire at the end of December. Nominations are open for the fifth tranche of coordinators, who will serve from 1 January to 30 June 2013. For complete information, please have a look at the election page. – Your drive coordinators: Stfg, Allens, and Torchiest. Disambiguation link notification for December 5
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mithrananthapuram Trimurti Temple, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Siva (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Minor planets deadend tag quesiton
Hi there, I found the page List of minor planets: 171001–172000 through the deadend tag category and was about to remove the tag because there are a ton of wiki links within the page. However, according to the [|edit history], the deadend tag was added after the links were added so I wanted to ask if there is another reason for the tag since there are so many links to other WP articles already. Thanks JC.Torpey (talk) 18:23, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
- I don't know what was I thinking when I tagged the article with a deadend tag, It was completely unnecessary. I have already removed the tag from the page. Thanks for pointing it out to me. KAS( talk) 07:22, 20 December 2012 (UTC)
I'm very glad I asked about it - I'm still trying to learn the ins and outs of the many (many!) policies and guidelines, and I wanted to make sure that the tag isn't used for other reasons as well. Thank you for the half Barnstar, its much appreciated. JC.Torpey (talk) 15:52, 20 December 2012 (UTC)

Greetings from WikiProject Open Access
Dear Kirananils,
it is now one year since WikiProject Open Access was started by User:Bluerasberry on January 10, 2012. Since then, the project has advanced modestly, but we have not interacted much. For the coming year, we certainly want to improve on that.
We also plan to overhaul the project pages to make them more conducive to collaboration, and we are pondering the idea of expanding the concept of a WikiProject Open Access to projects other than the English Wikipedia, e.g. to other languages or to Wikimedia Commons. You are warmly invited to add your voice to all that. We would also appreciate if you would share some of your OA-related activities by way of our news ticker or via the monthly Open Access report that is part of the GLAM newsletter (to which you can subscribe here), or as you see fit otherwise.
As a visual token of the anniversary, I am adding today's Open Access File of the Day. Feel free to nominate files yourself. As of today, commons:Category:Open access (publishing) contains more than 15,000 files, of which about 2/3 are video and sound files uploaded by the Open Access Media Importer.
Thanks for being part of the project, and looking forward to more interaction. With a smile, -- Daniel Mietchen - WiR/OS (talk) 23:58, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
Non-free rationale for File:Shriman Satyawadi Film Poster.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Shriman Satyawadi Film Poster.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Forgot to put name 12:39, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
- I have included non-free rationale to the image, so as to that, I have removed the tag for speedy deletion and removed the tag from the article also. Thanks for pointing it out. KAS( talk) 13:09, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Ek Dil Sao Afsane Film Poster.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Ek Dil Sao Afsane Film Poster.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:06, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
- I have tagged the image with Non-free content (movie poster) licence, now that license status of the image has been updated I have removed the speedy deletion tag from the file. Thank you for notifying me.. KAS( talk) 20:16, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
