Issue: Blocked from Creating Home Page
editKonoisia (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
Caught by a web host block but this host or IP is not a web host. Just using home internet, but for some reason I keep getting blocked from created a webpage for my own account. Here is the IP Address: 52.86.174.9. I'm currently using a school owned Macbook Air. The school recently put extra security measures on our computer, a program called Securly that is based out of Virgina. For some reason it is saying my IP Address is from Ashburn, Virginia, whereas I am currently in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I'm not sure if this issue can be resolved, but my IP address according to my phone is actually: 172.7.220.24
Decline reason:
Procedural decline only. You didn't tell us your IP address, so we can't investigate your claim. You can find it using WhatIsMyIP. If you don't wish to provide it publicly, you may use WP:UTRS. Yamla (talk) 22:55, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
That IP address, 52.86.174.9, belongs to Amazon AWS. Perhaps you are using a VPN service? If so, you'll need to disable that. All IP addresses allocated to Amazon AWS are generally blocked due to widespread abuse. --Yamla (talk) 23:00, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
- Yeap, securly performs a man-in-the-middle attack and routes your connection through Amazon AWS. That's fine (so long as you are aware everything you do can be monitored), but is incompatible with editing Wikipedia. You'll need to disable it or use a different connection if you wish to edit Wikipedia. --Yamla (talk) 23:41, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
Ok, I guess I'll just have to use a different device. Thanks for the help. --Konoisia (talk) 23:45, 12 June 2017 (UTC)
