Louis (Blues Boy) Jones
editHi LaVern. I understand that you've discovered the existence of this page. Let me explain. I would love to be able to start a Wikipedia article about your father, and that page is simply a collation of existing online information that I might be able to use. However... there is a major problem. After searching the internet (and the books I have on R&B music) as best I can, I think there is simply not enough information about your father in the reliable sources that we need to use. The sources that I've found are either blogs - which should not be used to create new Wikipedia articles - or material which you have put online yourself. Simply put... your father is, I'm afraid, not sufficiently notable to have a Wikipedia article. I'd like to be proved wrong, but, I'm sorry to say, that's my view at the moment. - Hi again. Thanks for your kind comments on my talk page. However, I think you misunderstand how Wikipedia articles are prepared, and what the position is. Don't get me wrong - I have heard and like your father's music, and I wish that there were more information about him online. I would like to be able to write a Wikipedia article about him. BUT... and this is very important... I've come to the conclusion that there is simply not enough information about him online to justify an article. To have an article written about them, a person must be notable in Wikipedia's terms, and have information about them published in reliable sources. The hard fact is that your father had no hit records, and very little has been written about him. What information there is comes either from blogs - which are generally not "reliable sources" - or from material which you yourself have placed on various sites like YouTube - which again should not be used as it's unreferenced and represents a conflict of interest. Again, those are not sources which should be used to write an article. The page which you have seen here is not a published article. I should probably delete it entirely as I don't think I can edit it into an article, and in its current state (as an unedited working draft) it may violate copyright. If I did prepare an article on the information I have now, I think other editors would seek to remove it on notability grounds. However, I'm happy to try to make one or two other contacts - not on Wikipedia - and see whether they would be prepared to make use of the information you have, in other articles elsewhere. I hope this will help. Ghmyrtle (talk) 10:31, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

editHello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 23:42, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
LaVern Jones Lemons (talk) 15:18, 10 August 2014 (UTC)Ghmyrtle I now get the message about Louis Blues Boy Jones being added to the main Wikipedia website. No Jones did not have a hit record. I hope perhaps someone will step forward and give you the information that is needed to complete the article to be placed permanent on Wikipedia. Jones recorded five records on five different record labels. There is plenty of information about him on the Internet global. I have been communicating via Internet, emails, Facebook and some telephone calls with followers of my father's music from all around the universe. I have great appreciation for all the love and respect they have shown for Jones as an artist. In 2011 Jones had about 2,000 views or hits on YouTube. Today he has over 77,653 views and counting. In 2011 when I wrote my first article on Jones it made the front page of the newspaper, then I thank the people worldwide for uploading his music on YouTube, next I let people know about my book and people from different parts of the world let me know how much they love his music. I will continue this amazing journey. So many great things are yet to come for Jones' legacy. But we know there were somethings that did not go right for some of the artists during their years in the entertainment world. I had a relative place a picture of my father last year on YouTube because people wanted to see a face with the music. Many people did not know that Jones had passed away now over 30 years ago. My heart is filled with joy and I thank Jones' many followers of long ago and all of his new fans and there is greater things coming for Louis Blues Boy Jones' music and his legacy. One follower of Jones' music stated his music will be an eternity as long as there are people. How great! Then over in England another fan informed me that they never stop playing his music and that my father was a shining star to them. At times I am speechless. Again I thank for all of your advice and help. LaVern
Ghmyrtle I am sorry I meant to say thank you in the end. I guess I could have edit but again thank you so much for your help. Will my book help my father as for as Wikipedia?LaVern Jones Lemons (talk) 15:25, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- That's fine, thanks. Perhaps you would be interested in this, which sets out the criteria for judging whether a musician is "notable" - that is, whether they should have a Wikipedia article. In particular, you should take note of the section on "Criteria for musicians and ensembles". There is some flexibility over this, and I've certainly written articles on other musicians who are close to the edge of being "notable" in Wikipedia's terms. Regarding your book - if it is published by an independent publisher, rather than being self-published, that might well shift the balance towards your father having an article. I also suggest that you contact some of the blues magazines that are published in the US and UK, to see whether they might be interested in publishing your father's story. I've already made one or two initial contacts on your behalf, and you might be interested to read this - where I explain what happened in similar circumstances a few years ago, in relation to another performer. Anyway, I wish you luck, and if you would like to contact me again feel free to email me by using the link on the left-hand side of my talk page. Ghmyrtle (talk) 15:46, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
Ghmyrtle. Hello again Guy. I will continue on my course. I have already selected a publishing company they are waiting on me to submit my material. I decided next month will be the deadline. I know some radio stations have sent comments to me they still play Jones' songs such as "The Birds is Coming" and "That's Cuz I Love You". Lately, I have been sending emails to radio stations global informing them about Jones' ten songs on YouTube and other websites. Three radio stations replied back someone in Arizona,Florida and New York. I try to do all that I possibly can to inform people about my father's music and his legacy. Bobby Robinson Jr the son of the late Bobby Robinson Sr who owned Enjoy Records and other record companies. I wish there was a way someone could contact Bobby Jr for information. The late Lelan Rogers who owned Sabra Records, his brother Kenny Rogers somehow if anybody would be willing to let the right person check out their archives. Then Duke-Peacock Records and Decca Records, I am sure these companies have some history on Louis Blues Boy Jones. I once tried to contact Harry Fox in New York. We do not know who has ownership of Jones' music. We are trying to get all ten of Jones' songs re-issued on CD one day if possible. But, I am thankful for all the information that has surfaced up until now. We have to admit there is more information available now on Jones than it was in 2007 for me because of the Internet. I am proud of my Dad. People often share this with me about Jones' music and legacy that somehow this seem to be a little miraculous to be communicating with one of their favorite artist's daughter. It is almost unbelievable because of the time span. But, life is a journey and anything is possible. I appreciate your expertise and I humbly thank you for helping me with my father's legacy. I will keep in touch and please keep me informed on new material. LaVernLaVern Jones Lemons (talk) 18:10, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
