NZ election templates

edit

As it is unknown how several minor parties will fare, and wikipedia is not in the prediction business, I have included all parties in both {{New Zealand election, 2011}} and {{New Zealand election - minor parties, 2011}}. Also removed Independent Chris Carter from the list of party losses, as he was elected in 2008 as a Labour candidate and the list is to record changes from election to election, not changes within a parliamentary term. Fan N | talk 03:43, 26 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

I agree with you - I'll hide the minor party one on the main article (within the exclamation tags) to make it easier, and all the results at this stage will go into the main table. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 03:50, 26 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
Reverted your edit to template - your assertion that 33.99 to 27.48 is a change of 6.51, not 6.50 may appear mathematically correct, but these numbers have been rounded to two decimal places (three times - 2008 and 2011 results, and the 2008-11 swing) whereas my calculations are only rounded on the final result. Math is (796,880/2,344,566*100)-(614,936/2,237,462*100) or 33.988379939 - 27.483639946 = 6.504739993 ... rounded to 6.50 Fan N | talk 21:22, 11 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi

I am a designer currently working on a booklet for Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (The Correspondance School http://www.correspondence.school.nz/). The correspondance school is a non profit organisation and the booklets are only used for educational purposes.

I would like to gain permission to use this image posted on wikipedia. Hau Nui Wind Farm stage 1 from Range Road.JPG. What would the cost be?

Template:NZ electorate result

Hey, I've combined your two templates into Template:NZ electorate result if you want to use it. Add "hold=true" to turn it into the incumbent hold, otherwise it defaults to a change. Will get a user doc up at somepoint. Hope it simplifies it a little. Mattlore (talk) 05:42, 21 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks - there's also a template for new electorates (e.g. Botany in 2008) - Template:NZ electorate result new
Ok, might be able to work that into it too at some point! Mattlore (talk) 06:48, 21 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Just so you know my intentions, I plan to re-add the third place information to 1996 - 2002 but not 2005-> as the information is covered in the candidate pages. The template can handle either just two or all three (unless someone can break it :)) Mattlore (talk) 02:47, 22 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I got an edit conflict converting more of the 1996 results over - I'll trawl back through the page history to find the third place candidates for those who are missing (Pakuranga to Waipareira) once the conversion is complete. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 02:51, 22 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Apologies for the conflict, I'll focus on 02 for now. Mattlore (talk) 03:45, 22 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Carterton Balloon Accident/Crash

edit

You beat me to it by 59 minutes! diff–Me and diff–You. Good article! --220 of Borg 04:48, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Great minds think alike. Sometimes there is bound to be article double-ups in major events, especially when there is no clear consensus on what the title should be (for future reference, the general consensus is "<year><place><event>" - I almost created the article with the year as 2011!) No harsh feelings! Lcmortensen (mailbox) 05:04, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Actually I think all up FOUR pages were created, one 2 hours after mine, but AFAIR they re-directed it after about 3 minutes. No hard feeling, I just could have used the time differently! The big kerfuffle over the 2011–12 Los Angeles arson attacks shows how silly edit warring over a redirect is. FYI there is now a very small article about the 1989 Alice Springs hot air balloon crash. Regards, 220 of Borg 10:00, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've reverted you page move of 2012 Carterton hot air balloon crash to Carterton hot air balloon crash per disaster naming consensus. Disasters are titled <year><place><event>, e.g. 2010 New Zealand Fletcher FU24 crash, despite there being no other "New Zealand Fletcher FU24 crash". Lcmortensen (mailbox) 21:49, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Did you read WP:PRECISION? We have article titles to which the year is unnecessarily appended because errors have been made by editors unaware of the reason to include it. (For example, Amish school shooting briefly was titled 2006 Amish school shooting.) —David Levy 22:02, 7 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

IPA on Whanganui

edit

I'm not experienced in IPA, but I think the local pronunciation of Whanganui uses a 'wh' sound rather than an 'f' sound. Should the first sound be represented by 'hw' in IPA? See also Talk:Whanganui#Pronunciation-gadfium 04:39, 3 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

The correct Maori-based pronunciation is "fa-nga-nu-i". The local pronunciation is "hwa-nga-nu-i", but there is no phonetic difference to "wa-nga-nu-i" as New Zealand English has the wine–whine merger. The same problem applies to Whangarei ("fa-nga-ray" or "hwa-nga-ray") and Whakatane ("fa-ka-ta-ne" and "hwa-ka-ta-ne"), and then all three seen to have "fo-" or "hwo-" sound instead of the prescribed "fa-" and "hwa-"
I'll have another go at it. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 04:59, 3 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Are you saying the local English pronunciation is /wɒ/ (as in "Watt") for all three? What you gave as English at Whakatane wasn't actually English (English words do not end in /ɛ/), so I deleted that part. As for the others, the pron. should be what people actually say, not what s.o. thinks they should say. — kwami (talk) 00:34, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Okay, so local English pron. of Whakatane has the spa rather than the Watt vowel in the 1st syllable? — kwami (talk) 00:50, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Do people actually pronounce it with an /f/ in English, or do they just say it should be pronounced that way? Same for the Watt vowel. I'm wondering if we need the footnote.
I added English to Whangarei. Could you verify?
Also, should the Maori in Whanganui and Whakatane have the same [f] as it does in Whangarei? Is [f] the norm for contemporary Maori? Thanks, — kwami (talk) 00:54, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
Whangarei is normally "fong-a-ray" and Wanganui is normally "wong-a-nu-ee" in English (double checked). Whakatane is normally "fah-ka-ta-nee" in English - in 2008 (i think) the town's own wireless prevented the town being searched because "whaka" in the phonetic spam filter sounds like "fuck-a". Lcmortensen (mailbox) 01:12, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. BTW, {{IPA-mi}} is now set up with its own IPA key. I haven't added any Maori examples yet, in case you'd like to improve it. (Also, I don't know what the diphthongs are in Maori: in our article, we say that stress falls on the first diphthong (if there's not long vowel), but don't say what counts as a diphthong. Just any sequence of vowels? — kwami (talk) 01:30, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

According to the article on the Maori language, the diphthongs are ae, ai, ao, au, oi, oe, ou. The two I'm most familiar with are "ao" (/aɔ/) as in Aotearoa, close to English /aʊ/ as in "mouth"; and "au" (/aʉ/) as in Taupo and tekau (number ten), close to English /oʊ/ as in "goat". Cleanup of HVDC Inter-Island

edit

Hi. You will note that I have made what I hope are useful improvements to HVDC Inter-Island. When you have some time, can you please have a look and suggest to me any areas for further cleanups. Also, in terms of the Quality Scale, I hope this is now closer to Class B than Stub. Do you concur ? Who performs the classification ? Cheers Marshelec (talk) 00:40, 11 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

The stucture of the article is a bit eratic and will need some reorganising, plus some areas are missing information (notably how the line came to be built). Clearly it is not a stub, so I've upgraded it to C class (you need peer reviews to get beyond C class) Lcmortensen (mailbox) 01:25, 11 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

North Island Grid Upgrade

edit

Hi, I have prepared a substantial amount of new content to add to the article you created for the Whakamaru to Brownhill Road transmission line. The proposed new content is at: User:Marshelec/NIGU. I invite your comments or suggestions for further work before I add all this new and revised content to the main article. Thanks Marshelec (talk) 21:56, 14 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've done a small copyedit of the article and fixed a few minor trivial points, e.g. "regional council" vs "local council" - the line passes through seven local councils (six today with the Auckland supercity), but only two regional councils (Waikato and Auckland). I also truncated the coordinates of sites to 5dp to overcome over-preciseness (5dp is within 11 metres). Otherwise, it looks good - could do with a little explanation of the existing lines into Auckland to give a bit of clarity to the issues part. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 00:21, 15 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. The very precise GPS co-ordinates came from a Transpower source. I understand the intention was to accurately identify the location of the main entry gate of the substation ! I agree that a less precise co-ordinate is fine here. I have a few other minor points to add and will then paste content into the main article Marshelec (talk) 00:54, 15 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Vanishing

edit

I occasionally peruse the article Electricity sector in New Zealand, and a while back had noticed a rather roundabout way of obtaining a file that via Google Earth will locate and describe a large number of power stations, a list more comprehensive than most such as elsewhere in the article - though I have not performed an exhaustive comparison. Somewhat later, I see that this item vanished from the article. I notice from the edit log that on the 31'st March in one of your edits, the mention and link to the file PowerStations.kmz suddenly vanished, without any explanation. I've just checked the old version of the page, and the link to the file is still live, and still works, so that was not a reason for its removal. Has something been gained by its absence? NickyMcLean (talk) 20:46, 21 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

From the way it was inserted it looked like a spam link, so was removed. Sorry for not explaining in the comments. We do have a list of power stations at List of power stations in New Zealand, but to prevent it getting too unwieldy is restricted to stations over 0.5MW (500kW) and stations which are notable otherwise. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 22:51, 21 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Spam? Did it not occur to you to check? A while back when I noticed it I poked it out of curiosity it did indeed yield up a Google Earth file with a schedule of power stations and no sign of spam, even from the Dropbox organisation supporting the delivery, and this was still the case when I tried the old version of the article: the link still works, in other words, unlike many others. So far as I can see, there remains no facility in WP to enable the direct reference to .kml or .kmz files (as is possible for photos and sound), so there seems no other way to provide such a file. I think I've seen single latitude&longitude locations being specified somewhere, though many articles that mention locations that could benefit from some such "clickable" link lack them. Such as the list of power stations. It is not difficult to find the likes of Benmore, but what of Roaring Meg? (It's not the one in the Tararuas) The file being not displayed in its article will not increase the size of the article with a large table, while those after details will be able to open the file in Google Earth and proceed. NickyMcLean (talk) 20:09, 24 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
The link went dead for me because it only operates for people with Google Earth. List of power stations in New Zealand DOES include Roaring Meg (it is sorted under hydroelectric power stations).
In response, I think I will add cooridinates of power stations under "Location" on the table lists. Then, you can add a box at the top of the article that will plot all coordinates in the mapping program of the user's choice. I'll get an exemplar started now. Hi there, I see you added Category:New Zealand secondary schools of Nelson plan construction to Massey High School, amoung others, however currently the article doesn't mention this, do you have a reference you can add to the article to support this claim please? Sorry, I forgot to include the intro on the category page. I've also added a sentence about it to the Massey High article. The reference to what the Nelson design is, is on the Secondary education in New Zealand page. As for whether Massey is of the design, I just looked at an aerial photo of the school.Lcmortensen (mailbox) 00:09, 23 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Freeview and Igloo are brands, not providers

edit

A provider is a company that encoded the transport the service runs on such as Sky, TVNZ, Kordia and Vodafone/TelstraClear.

Freeview is just nothing more than a bloated and over priced administration frontend and Igloo is nothing more than another retail frontend for lower paying Sky customers. Just as in Aussie, VAST, Aurora and freeview are just public facing brands administrated by Optus and FreeTV.

Also availability should have what resolution is available for the stated provider given all providers don't offer the same video/audio format.

Also I am unsure how to cite references for the H.222 tables, when the source is the actual transport stream???? There is a lot of knowledge on this site that doesn't cite references.Helmboy (talk) 10:01, 14 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

I am just following the use of the infobox in practice. The infobox is supposed to sum up basic facts about the topic, with more detailed information left for the prose section. If you look at international channels such as BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, etc. etc., and even the New Zealand and Australian practice before you came along, they simply state the name of the service (Freeview, Sky, etc.), instead of the transmission provider (in the UK, this would be Arqiva), because the general Wikipedia audience will recognise the former more than the latter. That is the consensus, and if you wish to change things, you need to discuss it at Template talk:Infobox television channel.
As for the H.222 tables, remember no original research. You need to find a source which states them -- I know LyngSat has the details for Optus D1 -- that's a start. ([1]). Lcmortensen (mailbox) 10:22, 14 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
First the infobox availability options were designed to be used for diffing guide channel numbers for pay TV channels that were on competing cable, fibre and satellite operators (who are providers and NOT branded packages) in the US. Which was never a good idea in terms of the general Wikipedia:NOTGUIDE policy. Outside North American free-to-air and restricted pay TV markets that use this on their channel pages seem to use these options in an even more pointless manner given FTA is obviously on terrestrial and carried on most pay TV services. It would be better to ignore these fields and include a brief line stating if the channel is solely on pay tv or is free-to-air. I was trying to make better use of this field by including more informative info and not some silly brand scoring card.
As for the H.222 tables, that is completely bogus to call it research, when it's simply info taken from a broadcast source into a wiki table form, which has absolutely no research involved. You read the same info by using the debug or extended info mode on any decent digital receiver. ie, STB, TV, etc Also using LyngSat would NOT be credible given the lousy formatting and casual sources on the site. Plus it's satellite only.Helmboy (talk) 15:10, 14 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Firstly, I need to refer you to read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, just in case. Your edit history, plus having negative views of broadcasting platforms like that is starting to ring alarm bells.
Given you have not replied to the last message at all and your own conflict of interest in promoting public facing advertising brands like Freeview and Igloo over the actual service provider is ringing the bells much louder.Helmboy (talk) 05:01, 15 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Just needed to double check. As for me, I have no conflicts of interests - I own two Freeview boxes, and that's a COI in the same way as having a COI with Tranz Metro for catching their trains to work (which is why my previous reply was cut short).
Put it this way, you argue that we should be naming it Sanitarium yeast spread rather than Marmite, or Foodstuffs discount supermarket rather than Pak'nSave, as Marmite and Pak'nSave are just blatant public facing advertising brands. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 08:00, 15 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Those are names of actually products and outlets. Freeview and Igloo are brands for basically selected channel packages with a certification labeling scheme for DVB receivers. It's not a provider, product or outlet. PS, what's wrong with labeling availability fields as free-to-air, free-to-view and Pay TV appended with either SD or HD?Helmboy (talk) 04:57, 16 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
It is implied further up in the infobox under "Picture Format" that the channel is in HD where available. People aren't that dumb. No other television channel articles repeat their picture format in the availability section.
P.S. Check you have New Zealand English or even UK English spell check on -- labelling has two L's and analogue has a 'ue' on the end. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 06:28, 16 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
It's needed as some providers such as on satellite may only carry SD due to bandwidth constraints or capability with SD receivers. ie, the free-to-air frequencies on satellite have neither the bandwidth or HD receiver base for such support, but Pay TV has more frequencies to put up HD, also DVB subtitles are generally not supported by SD receivers even though TV3 are using the format on the TVNZ sat service.
As for your preference of UK spellings, I'm from Canada and we mainly follow US spellings and dislike most unnecessary vowel sounds which were mainly adopted from the UK's bastardizing of French words as in colouuuur from couleur, analoguuuuueeeeee from analogique. As for dates I believe the ISO format from ISO 8601 should be adopted internationally for general use as in YYYY-MM-DD over the ambiguous Catholic derived DD Month YYYY or the newspaper derived version of Month DD, YYYY.Helmboy (talk) 12:53, 16 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Because the articles in question are New Zealand-based, New Zealand English spelling and DMY dates are used. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 19:51, 16 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Why??? Because NZ follows the UK who follow the church of England who are based upon the Catholic religion???? Articles (just as democratic governments/organizations) should be impartial of religion and commercial influence, which is why ISO 8601 should be used for dates. ISO 8601 is used in wiki markup templates and coding.Helmboy (talk) 02:29, 17 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
WP:TIES will explain. And you are now well off-topic. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 02:39, 17 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Using a digital receiver to find the information counts as original research. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 21:54, 14 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Please explain your idea of research over inputting edits from textual sources. As info screens on devices are textual sources like books, media and web sites with the publisher and author being a provider and broadcaster respectively.Helmboy (talk) 05:01, 15 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I partially confused Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Verifiability. I can't verify that the information you provided is correct; I need to see published proof from a reliable source. Books and websites are published, and I can easily pick up the book at a library or search for the website to verify the information is correct. You basically need the H.222 tables in physical published form, from a reliable source, to refer Wikipedia users to for verification. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 08:00, 15 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
A book, video or web site are fine when the information has mass appeal or is available from corporate controlled sources retrieved through simple means, but editors should not be restricted to such to be able to include information. A well described technical source should acceptable as well.Helmboy (talk) 04:57, 16 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
You may be best to take this question up somewhere else. I can't help you any further with this one. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 06:28, 16 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Lorde Early Career - site of recordings incorrect

edit

Hi. Recent edits to the paragraph in "Lorde - Early Career" now incorrectly attribute the site and events relating to the two recordings sent to Scott Maclachlan. The initial recordings that piqued Universal's interest were not recordings from the Belmont Idol school talent contest. A quick bit of research will show that she also only sang one song at that performance, so two couldn't have been recorded.

Ella & Louis had played together as a duo for some months prior, and the first two recordings sent to Universal were actual "home" audio and video recordings of Ella & Louis, recorded in the basement studio of our home. The Belmont Idol video (also recorded at the contest) was eventually seen by Universal well after these initial two demos were sent to them.

Could I suggest the following amendment ... (see Suggested Amendment below) .. or could you please revert back to the more correct and reasonably unambiguous Pre-edit Original.

The Pre-Edit Original At the age of 12 she attended Belmont Intermediate School.[14] In August 2009, her musician friend Louis McDonald's father, Ian, sent Universal A&R scout Scott Maclachlan – an audio of Louis & Ella covering Duffy's hit song Warwick Avenue, and a video of her singing Pixie Lott's Mama Do.[13] Later, when Lorde was 13, A&R scout Scott Maclachlan signed her to Universal and at the age of 14, she began working with their songwriters.[15] Lorde began writing songs with her guitar at "about thirteen or fourteen".[16][better source needed] As of July 2013, Lorde is a Year Twelve student at Takapuna Grammar School[17][18] and is a self-identified feminist.[6]

Capitalisation

edit

How should the notability reasons in Rangiora High School#Alumni be capitalised?

Example Rule
Sir Malcolm McRae Burns – Agricultural Scientist, Principal of Lincoln College (later Lincoln University) and President of the Royal Society of New Zealand[1] Capitalising each word except common words such as of, the, etc.
Sir Malcolm McRae Burns – Agricultural scientist, Principal of Lincoln College (later Lincoln University) and President of the Royal Society of New Zealand[1] Capitalising the first word of each notability reason
Sir Malcolm McRae Burns – agricultural scientist, principal of Lincoln College (later Lincoln University) and president of the Royal Society of New Zealand[1] Capitalising only proper nouns like Lincoln College and the Royal Society of New Zealand

The last one - and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes (i.e. ~~~~) so I know who who the message is from. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 09:05, 11 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Lorde

edit

Hi there and thanks for the edit on Nov 17th re:Lorde. I was re:reading the current information and the para in Early Life states I sent the home recordings to 'various talent scouts'. I only ever sent the recordings to Universal Music New Zealand. A small point but considering Universal was who she signed with, quite material that they were the only ones who received my recordings. If you could look at amending that sentence the paragraph is then correct. Appreciate your input. Kind Regards DustyTheStar (talk) 07:23, 19 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your draft article, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Hobsonville Point Primary School

Lipnitskaya

edit

Hi there! According to WP:RESPELL, the respelling key is used "to spell out the pronunciations of English words". In the Yulia Lipnitskaya article, however, the pronunciation you added is clearly that of her name in Russian (since "Yulia" is not pronounced "YOO-lee-ya" in English, but is in Russian). Could you please revise? I personally would prefer to see the IPA transcription (ideally, for both Russian and English), since I can never make heads or tails of these confusing respellings, but that's just me. I'd add IPA myself, but since I'm not a native speaker (and am heavily biased as far as mangling Russian names in English is concerned :)), I'd rather not to. Thanks!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); February 19, 2014; 20:36 (UTC)

I was using Respell as a stop-gap measure until I could convert it to IPA. Unfortunately someone was pestering me to go walkies... I'm getting onto it now. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 21:13, 19 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Image favour

edit

Lcmortensen, I've just finished creating an article about the Field hockey pitch and want to use an image like File:Hockey field metric.svg to illustrate the page, however there are a few errors (p51–52). I noticed you are still active and made the metric alterations to the original image. I was wondering if you could make a few further alterations to that image for me, all to the measurement text.

  • The distance on the bottom left (4.57 m along the base) should not exist. It seems to coincide with the markings on the 23-metre and centre lines which should also not be there.
  • Instances of "4.57 m" (along the sides and from circle) should be 5 m; 5 yds actually got changed to 5 m (rather than metricised).
  • Similarly, the 9.14 m (10 yd) should be 10 m.
  • Strangely, the pitch is not exactly split in four - the "23 m line" is 22.90 m from the bottom, and the half-way line is then 22.80 m from that.

Would this be easy to do? Regards, Rambo's Revenge (talk) 17:08, 14 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

NZ election templates

edit

No, I was not quite the one complaning about the emphasis problem on the talk page, I was initiating a discussion on the topic, so that we might arrive at a consensus. Making radical changes that break some tables, fill them with unnecessary text, and strip out clear information is not - in my view - anything like discussing the templates so that we may arrive at a consensus. As I said in my edit summaries, this discussion needs to take place before changes are made. And while your original edits could be taken as good faith, your latest are looking like edit warring. List of schools in the Marlborough Region

edit

Hi Mortensen,

Thanks for your work at Template:NZ school roll data. I am trying to make the date formatting consistent on the List of schools in the Marlborough Region article in preparation for it being featured on the main page. This article uses the "NZ school roll data" template, which employs a different date format. Is there a way for this template to generate a YYYY-MM-DD date in its citation? Any help you are able to provide in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

NZ elections result templates

edit

There is no possible confusion between {{New Zealand general election, 2014}} and {{New Zealand election, 2014}} (or other election template years) so renaming them to disambiguate is not necessary. These templates are ordinarily not directly accessed by most observers - they are meant to facilitate the work of editors and as such they have an agreed format (including name format) that is consistent through all NZ general election, or are scheduled to be made consistent. Adding another name variant to the category is not conducive to this project's work. Fan N | talk | 09:03, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

This is a ridiculous time to be starting an edit war since I don't think it would serve either of us to be banned just a few days out from the election, or to be changing pactices based on your inability to differentiate between two template names. You talk of consensus, but you offer no proof that you had any consensus to make changes to a standard practice. I suggest you revert your changes and take this to Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject New_Zealand/politics before making changes. Consensus needs to come before change, not after - and my reverts to your moves were in line with that understanding. Fan N | talk | 09:37, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ex BR Mark 2 cars

Hiya

Just looked at your edit, which made me check the Fleet Equipment Diagrams, which show that the figure both before and after your edit arn't quite right. The S-Servery Diagram shows an overall height of 3614mm, and floor height of 1081mm. The SW shows height of 3580mm as you have stated, and a floor height of 996mm. SD's show as 3625mm high and Floor of 996mm. SE shows as 3647mm high, and floor of 1011 (which I am guessing is down to the S-Ride Bogies.

Not saying you are wrong as there seem to be numerous measurements depending what you base the numbers off. Where do you want to go here??

Kaiwhara (talk) 05:16, 17 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

The original measurement was 3.89m, which to me was far too high (probably the original BR specs). I did a Google search and found the KiwiRail specs for the SW carriages to replace it. I may be best to express the heights as a range. Lcmortensen (mailbox) 06:09, 17 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Let me have a think on how best to do this and Ill sort something out. Whether this is the given range of data, or giving data specific to the class. Kaiwhara (talk) 06:21, 17 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Tongariro Power Scheme

edit

There appears to be a wording problem at Tongariro Power Scheme#Tongariro Power Scheme, an article which you created in 2009, and the following is not quite right:

Water from here and 22 other intakes, including from the Waihianoa and Makahikato Streams, into the 8.4-kilometre (5.2 mi) long underground Wahianoa Aqueduct.

Rather than "Waihianoa and Makahikato Streams, into", something like "Waihianoa and Makahikato, streams into" seems to be needed? I'm hoping you will work out what was intended. Johnuniq (talk) 07:03, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
