Hi
editThanks for the comments on the CHP - you're right, irreligious is too strong and you're also right to point out that Christians and Jews (as well as the business éite) have only moved the CHP since the decline of the secular centre-tight
PS - don't be afraid to put in these corrections yourself! That's what wikipedia is all about. After all you are closer to the situation than I am, although I will be in Istanbul again in late September. Kendinize çok iyi bakin. Gerry Lynch 09:50, 16 Jul 2004 (UTC)
Thanx
editThanks for warning, I really made a big mistake about Beşiktaş JimNastik Kulubu. And can you explain me how to write a mesage to users? Erginer 16:07, Nov 30, 2004 (UTC)
- You're welcome. In fact, this is the way to write a message to users. You could also send e-mails to users using the link provided on the left column, if they have specified any e-mails, that is. If you want to leave messages to users about a certain article, you could as well do it on the article's talk page that you can reach by following the "discuss this page" link provided again at the column on the left. I made some more minor changes on the Besiktas Jimnastik Kulubu article, like tidying up the grammar, etc., and I will try to do more later. --leandros 22:35, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Sunbul Effendi
editHi Leandros - as a Turkish wikipedian, I am seeking your comments on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Sunbul Effendi. As it the article topic is related to Turkey, I assume Turkish Wikipedians are more likely than most to know whether the article is Wikipedia-worthy --AYArktos 00:15, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
List of country names in various languages under attack !!!
editDear Yusuf,
The List of country names in various languages, List of European regions with alternative names, List of European cities with alternative names, List of European rivers with alternative names, and others, have come under attack by a certain Mikka, who, having just stumbled into all these lists, having found them of little use to himself, and having repeatedly ridiculed them and their users, has then promptly filed a petition to delete the lists in question.
Please cast your vote to keep these valuable, informative, and indeed fascinating lists at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of country names in various languages.
Thanks! Pasquale 16:36, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
Gracia Mendes Nasi
editYusuf, I moved Doña Gracia Mendes Nasi to Gracia Mendes Nasi. I'd like to fix the double redirect on your user page, but I feel uncomfortable doing that without permission. → (AllanBz ✍) 05:18, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Justification article
editHi,
I noticed that you appeared in the edit history of the justification (theology) article. I recently made major changes to the article in an effort to move it to NPOV. If you have any suggestions for improvement (style, content, whatever), please leave a comment on the talk page for that article. The goal is to get the article to the point that the POV and cleanup templates can be removed.
Thanks, --jrcagle 20:17, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
Help
editI'm trying to place an image (a party emblem) from the Turkish wikipedia which is:
into an English wikipedia article: Nation Party (Turkey), but I cannot get the syntax correct.--leandros (talk) 12:22, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Have you uploaded the image to the English Wikipedia yet? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells•Otter chirps) 12:26, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Actually no, since it's not an image I originally uploaded to the Turkish wiki. I was trying to figure out a way to incorporate it with wiki markup.--leandros (talk) 12:34, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- You have to uploaded it to the English Wikipedia first. I will do this for you. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells•Otter chirps) 12:34, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- I uploaded the image at Image:Ckmp.jpg, giving credit to the original uploader. Since it's a copyrighted (presumably) logo, I would assume that I don't have to get the permission of whoever uploaded it to the Turkish Wikipedia. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters • (Broken clamshells•Otter chirps) 12:40, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you; that would mean, it's not possible through syntaxing.--leandros (talk) 18:50, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Mersin
editYanılmıyorsam, Mersin maddesini siz yazmışsınız.Turkey now plans to construct its first nuclear power plant in the port city of Mersin.
Sonuçta Wikipedia böyle işliyor: Wikipedia:Be bold
NAACP Founding
editAs I explained in the discussion page, I eliminated that paragraph because it is an unnecessary tangent from the founding of the NAACP. There is plenty of information about the relationship between Jews and African Americans in other sections (Civil Rights History, Relations between blacks and Jews). The part that I mentioned- It's really not relevant. Why not mention the considerable contributions of the descendents of abolitionists and Unitarians, (Like Ovington, Vallard- two of the original 4 founders) who were every bit as important in the establishment of the NAACP? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.197.186.213 (talk) 04:55, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- I restored the paragraph because I felt that however redundant or irrelevant it may sound, that paragraph is, imho, crucial to the integrity of the section, and it is indeed irrelevant to mention abolitionsists or Unitarians as a pretext to the deletion of the certain paragraph. If those are to be mentioned, they should be, but independently.--leandros (talk) 22:43, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Hi!
editHi, I'm from the Turkish Wikipedia. I just came across your profile after taking a look at the Istanbul pride march photo you took, and I was wondering, would you be able to help us on the tr:Türkiye'de eşcinsellik article? I think it would be awesome! Please!!! Runningfridgesrule (talk) 15:31, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

Small translation request
editHi Leandros! I understand from Translators available that you are a native speaker of Turkish. I will be grateful if you will offer an English translation of this NTV article (archive). If you have time this Cumhurieyet article covers the same subject, but is less useful. It's for use in the article Julian Assange.
Google translate gives the article title as "FBI agent accusing Julian Assange: I made up all the charges"
Thanks for your help. Cambial foliage❧ 13:58, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Cambial Yellowing!
Sure, gladly. I hope you are not short in time, it might take a day or two. leandros (talk) 15:05, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you so much Leandros. I look forward to reading it. Good regards Cambial foliage❧ 18:25, 2 October 2021 (UTC)
- Hi again!
- Translation done. Kind of awkward wording due to the original, and I tried to keep it as mot-a-mot as possible. Should I paste it here directly? leandros (talk) 13:40, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
- Pasting directly here is the easiest, yeah. Or if you would prefer, via Pastebin.com (link). There is no need to sign up/sign in; just paste the text, check "paste exposure" is set to either Public or Unlisted, press "create new paste" and then copy the web address from your address bar to here. Thank you again! Cambial foliage❧ 23:24, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
- There you go! Glad to learn abt pastebin too!
leandros (talk) 07:04, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks leandros. May I just ask you to double check part of the second line: "iddialarının doğru olmadığını kabul etti". Google translate renders it as "admitted that his allegations were 'untrue", but on pastebin it reads "admitted that the allegations against Julian Assange are true." A crucial difference (!) 🙂 I wasn't sure if it was a typing error. Thank you for taking the time! Best, Cambial foliage❧ 11:20, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
- It is a typo, indeed should be "untrue." Apologies! leandros (talk) 12:13, 4 October 2021 (UTC)

Unicode chart translation request
editHello. I maintain multilingual Wikimedia charts showing roadmaps to the various planes of the Unicode Standard.
I'm hoping you will provide Turkish translations for me. (I noticed your user name on the Wikipedia:Translators available list.)
The specifics are at User:Drmccreedy/roadmap_multilingual.
I machine translated the text as a start. See User:Drmccreedy/roadmap_multilingual#Turkish.
After the charts have been updated they can be added to the Turkish Unicode article.
Thank you for any help you can offer. DRMcCreedy (talk) 22:24, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
- Hello! Thank you for your message. Indeed, I am avaliable for occasional translations, but unfortunately this subject matter is so unfamiliar, I suspect that I would be mistaken with the terms throughout. I hope you would excuse me. leandros (talk) 10:41, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
- No worries. Thanks for letting me know. DRMcCreedy (talk) 20:30, 1 December 2023 (UTC)
