"horse-bells"

edit

Hello. With regards to this edit, can you tell me what a "horse-bell" is? Regards – ὁ οἶστρος (talk) 16:36, 21 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi ὁ οἶστρος,
Thanks for the message! I apologize for the late reply. To answer your question, I must admit I have no idea what "horse bells" are, so I left the wording intact. My source was p. 161 of Lynette Sheridan Burns' Understanding Journalism (Thousand Oaks, CA: Sage Publications, 2002). Here's an excerpt

If they were looking for him and found his boat, they’d go up the Victoria River, not the Fitzmaurice. But they came. Ansell heard the sound of horse bells floating down the river and paddled towards it. He hitched the boat and ran along the horse tracks. Incredibly, he saw a man on a horse. He told the story of their meeting.

I considered leaving the "horse bells" out, but the excerpt seems to imply they played an important part in Ansell's rescue. Regards, Life is like a box of chocolates (talk) 04:47, 27 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
(I hope it's OK that I moved your above reply here, as in isolation on my talk page it doesn't make sense.)
Hey, thanks for your sourced answer. I was just wondering whether this was an Aussie thing or one of those cases where everyone else knows what it's about as a matter of course while I, for whatever reason, just don't have a clue...

If you are amenable, I would suggest adding this passerine image

My Opinion

edit

Hi how are you today? Um, I am really indifferent in regards to whether having multiple images or single images. I feel when you have a clade that is pretty diverse, I feel that it's okay to post two pictures, just to give the idea of things.--4444hhhh (talk) 18:57, 25 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
