Tornadoes of 2026 moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for your contributions to Tornadoes of 2026. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing as a live article at this time because it has no sources and no tornado events have happened so far, so it is pointless to make a blank article. I have converted it to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. HurricaneZetaC 15:20, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- My bad, I thought they were made into an article on January 1st regardless of events. Lightbulb Noob (talk) 15:37, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah it's alright, it's confusing but we generally make the article when a notable event happens so the article has at least one entry (otherwise it's just a skeleton). HurricaneZetaC 15:41, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

File source problem with File:2020 Hampton County tornado memorial.png
[edit]
Thank you for uploading File:2020 Hampton County tornado memorial.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 15:56, 11 January 2026 (UTC)

Good article nominations RfC
[edit]Hi Lightbulb Noob,
There is an ongoing Request for Comment (RfC) at Wikipedia:Good article nominations/August 2026 RfC, which you may be interested in because in the past year, you have nominated or reviewed more than one good article nomination. This message has also been sent to all subscribers to the Good Article Gazette. The RfC contains many proposals (33 at the time of writing), which are split into the following categories: nominators, reviewers, reviews, volunteer roles, reviewing initiatives, and others. However, you are more than welcome to add any proposals of your own that you wish to put to the community.
By the end of September, all the proposals will have been closed by an uninvolved editor, either as a consensus for one of the options or with no consensus. At this point, editors will be invited again to develop these proposals into coherent policy and implement them.
Thank you for your contributions to the good articles project, and I look forward to your input! (in solidarity), JacobTheRox(talk|contributions) 16:02, 11 August 2026 (UTC)

Hi
[edit]Hi Lightbulb Noob
I hope you are doing well.
I am working on my Wikipedia draft. It is about the Akçamezra tornado near the Syria–Turkey border. The Akçamezra tornado caused a lot of damage.İt completly debarked mature pistachio trees, did ground scouring, and destroyed masonry buildings.İt is currently rated IF3+ on ESWD
Since İt is my first time making a Wikipedia article from scratch I am having a hard time to expand this article and to make sure everything is right.
I know you are good at making tornado articles. So I was wondering if you could look at my draft. I would really like to hear what you think and get your help.
Here is the link, to the draft:Draft:2026 Akçamezra Tornado
Thank you for taking the time to help me.
Also @EF5 suggested you. ⚡ StormL00ver ⚡ 18:30, 17 August 2026 (UTC)

- Also This is the Skew-T data for the event. ⚡ StormL00ver ⚡ 18:31, 17 August 2026 (UTC)
- Are we certain this tornado needs an article? Yes, I get it was very historic for the region, but it already has an outbreak article and I'm not seeing the significant coverage that would warrant a standalone tornado article for it. Lightbulb Noob (talk) 12:08, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah I'm Certain this tornado needs an article.İt was both the largest and the strongest tornado to ever happen in Turkey and Syria. Also There is significant coverage on the internet and Local Surveyors are currently focussed on this event. Also Jonathan VOP MENA which works in ESWD made the report for Akçamezra and he said There is currently a discussion on the ESWD about a possible upgrade to the tornado. ⚡ StormL00ver ⚡ 12:41, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- Also This Tornado hapened somewhere outside of USA.Of course there is going to be less coverage compared to USA Tornadoes. ⚡ StormL00ver ⚡ 12:43, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- "İt was both the largest and the strongest tornado to ever happen in Turkey and Syria" - I am aware of that, but this feat by itself does not make the tornado warrant an article.
- "Also There is significant coverage on the internet and Local Surveyors are currently focussed on this event." - The local surveyors have nothing to do with notability, and what kind of "significant coverage"? I can hardly find any news outlets reporting on it.
- "Also Jonathan VOP MENA which works in ESWD made the report for Akçamezra and he said There is currently a discussion on the ESWD about a possible upgrade to the tornado." - Again, none of this really makes the tornado warrant a standalone article. There's been F4s, EF4s, IF4s, etc. that haven't gotten articles. Lightbulb Noob (talk) 12:58, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- I respect your way of looking at Wikipedias rules but records from different parts of the world often use a lot of sources that are not in English. These sources are very important in their countries. For weather events in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe the official field studies and scientific reviews from ESWD are the most reliable. These studies are done by trained people like Jonathan. Are the best source of information. Their work is clearly more trustworthy than news reports.
- Since we clearly don't agree on how the Wikipedia policies called WP:GLOBAL and WP:LASTING apply to weather events outside the United States I'm happy to wait and see what other experienced editors, like @ChessEric say before doing anything else. Lets find out what the group of editors thinks. ⚡ StormL00ver ⚡ 13:14, 18 August 2026 (UTC)
- Also Outside of USA most News don't even mention tornadoes when they happen or rarely maybe they will mention it for a day or two. ⚡ StormL00ver ⚡ 13:15, 18 August 2026 (UTC)

Experts work on and survey EF0 and EF1 tornadoes in the US, but they don't get articles. If it does get an upgrade though, this will likely increase the amount of news coverage.
- "Since we clearly don't agree on how the Wikipedia policies called WP:GLOBAL and WP:LASTING apply to weather events outside the United States I'm happy to wait and see what other experienced editors, like @ChessEric say before doing anything else. Lets find out what the group of editors thinks." - Seeking more input is fine, but I don't see how WP:GLOBAL applies here. Yes, I am from the US, but I am taking into account other international tornadoes that have articles, and the majority have lasting and significant news coverage and the ones that don't should frankly be deleted. Also, I don't see how this tornado will satisfy WP:LASTING if not many people are reporting on it in the first place, unless it gets upgraded but even that is a big "if".
- "Also Outside of USA most News don't even mention tornadoes when they happen or rarely maybe they will mention it for a day or two." - And there's your notability problem. This isn't always true, though, as the 2021 South Moravia tornado has significant coverage, including coverage from years after the event. Same thing with the 2025 Rio Bonito do Iguaçu tornado, it has widespread and significant coverage, and it sustained coverage 6+ months after the event. I just don't see this level of coverage here.
