Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Ceni Parish requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Naukšēni Parish

edit

Hi there. Regarding your revert here: You're correct, it isn't the same, but it's a plausible redirect target because it's a subdivision of Naukšēni Municipality – I redirected it because it was an empty mainspace article that hadn't been edited in 3 hours. I have no objections to you turning this into a fully-fledged article, but I would like to not create empty articles if you're not actively editing them, since they are confusing to readers and may get speedily deleted under CSD criterium A1. Thanks and best, Blablubbs|talk 13:52, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Blablubbs:Yes, thanks for that. Thanks to you I noticed my mistakes and I will be able to fix them. I am trying to fix up articles of Parishes of Latvia but it seems I have made some mistakes. I will try to be more cautious in the future. It's just that there was a message that asked to provide a reason if undoing changes. So I did. I will probably do some similar undo's and editing on other Parishes of Latvia article pages. If you agree with the edits then you don't have to reply but if you don't feel free to undo the edits and/or reply on any of talk pages. Liinisx (talk) 14:15, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply. While I'm here: Can I ask you if you're using some sort of script to add Wikidata infoboxes? You added 16 of them in 60 seconds at 09:33 (UTC), for example. Blablubbs|talk 14:23, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Blablubbs:I am trying to improve English wikipedia versions of Parishes, Municipalities, Towns and Cities of Latvia with wikidata settlement infoboxes so that (population, area) information was up to date. As we have updated all the info on wikidata and plan to do it in the future. And as it is such a tedious task to update everchanging population figures for 500+ pages (most of them until now didn't have any info about population, some of them had 10 - 13 old data which greatly differs from 2020/2021 data). I work for Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia. I asked before on wikidata telegram channel and people there said that I do not necessarily need a bot account for such a task. Isn't that wikipedia and wikidata path to the future? To try and automatize infoboxes by getting info from wikidata so that more time and energy could be spared to writing articles not updating infobox info like population and area? Liinisx (talk) 14:44, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Alright. So there's a couple things to untangle here. I appreciate your efforts to make Wikipedia better, but any automated editing on the English Wikipedia needs to be approved beforehand (see WP:BOT) – even supervised automated editing at very high speeds is subject to an approval requirement. In addition, since you appear to be editing as part of your job, you are required by the Terms of Use and English Wikipedia policy to disclose this. As to whether this is indeed the future of Wikimedia projects, the community has proven to be rather sceptical towards Wikidata integration because it comes with a good number of risks (verifiability requirements are lower on Wikidata, and vandalism may go undetected for longer). While adding new Wikidata infoboxes where no old ones have existed is fine, deleting old, non-WD ones and replacing them may be viewed as a controversial change (but I'm not necessarily the best person to ask about that). I want to ask you to read through our bot and paid editing policies before you continue editing; please feel free to get in touch if anything is unclear. I also want to give a quick ping to Primefac who's a member of the bot approvals group and will probably be able to explain that side of things better than I can. Thanks and best, Blablubbs|talk 15:01, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Blablubbs:Thanks for the information. I didn't know that I need an approval. I will stop automatic editing for now until I learn more about your policy. Liinisx (talk) 15:06, 16 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Briežuciems

edit

Hello, Liinisx,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username JJPMaster, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged Briežuciems for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. You may find our guide for writing quality articles to be extremely informative. Also, you may want to consider working on future articles in draft space first, where they cannot be deleted for lacking content.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|JJPMaster}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Hello, I'm Polyamorph. I noticed that you recently removed content from Cēre Parish without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Polyamorph (talk) 15:21, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did at Rembate Parish. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you think that the page should be deleted, please read Wikipedia:How to delete a page. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. — Smjg (talk) 18:24, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
