Now that we are all getting to know you, Lilaroja, through your fund-raising page on the English WP, I wondered whether it would not be appropriate to write a short WP biography on you. I see you have written a number of books and articles here which is a good start. And you also have a short CV here with additions here. Maybe you could direct me to some third party sources (e.g. newspaper articles) reporting on your activities - or perhaps reviews of your books? BTW, I am surprised you are only on the English WP. Hey guys, WP has rules about creating fan pages, remember? And that's what you're talking about.
Red Lilac's contributions across all projects of WP come to, like, 50, principally on her own page, and her other pages are all ready for deletion due to lack of notability and lack of personal detachment.
So maybe you guys should get back to improving the page on the Peloponnesian War, eh?

I disagree. Here we have an editor who undertook the difficult task of assisting the encyclopedia's fund-raising efforts. Notwithstanding the fawning comments of the IPs now she comes under friendly fire from fellow editors just because she became the object of admiration from a bunch of IPs. It is not her fault that a few IP editors came to express their admiration for her. She did not invite them. Neither did she invite fellow-editors to review her work and comment on her talkpage for no good reason. This line of commenting should cease. Furthermore the fansite tag is valid only for articles and it is invalid in userspace. In addition ad-hominem comments are covered under our NPA policy. The last Wednesday evening of every month, wiki enthusiasts in the San Francisco Bay Area will gather to collaborate, mingle, and learn about new projects and ideas. We have two brief presentations lined up for our kickoff event in downtown San Francisco:

• The Nueva Upper School recently hosted the first ever high school Wikipedia edit-a-thon. We will hear what interests them about Wikipedia, what they have learned so far, and what they hope to achieve.

Please join us in the Mission at Noisebridge (one time change of venue)!

We hope you can join us today, Wednesday, from 6 p.m. on, at our July Bay Area WikiSalon. This month only, we are going to be at Noisebridge, a hackerspace/makerspace 1.5 blocks from the 16th & Mission BART station (see the link for directions). Some of us will be working on the Wikipedia article on basic income. All info here. Some good news - we do not have to be as strict about advance RSVP at Noisebridge, so bring spontaneous guests! We will have no formal agenda to allow people to freely share ideas and perhaps learn about Wikipedia through hands-on editing. Co-organizer Ben Creasy will be looking at election-related articles to enhance the information available in the upcoming November elections.

Co-organizer Stephen LaPorte has suggested doing an upload-a-thon for Wiki Loves Monuments. Niki, the California coordinator for WLM will be in attendance. WLM is an annual event and the official dealine is Friday the 30th for submissions to count towards awards.

Periodically, on the last Wednesday evening of the month, wiki enthusiasts gather at the Bay Area WikiSalon series to munch, mingle, and learn about new projects and ideas.

We allow time for announcements, informal conversation and working on articles. Newcomers and experienced wiki users are encouraged to attend. Bring a friend! Kid/family friendly. Free Wi-Fi is available so bring your editing devices. This months focus is reliable sources!

We will have beverages (including beer and wine) plus light snacks (maybe pizza too!).

Invitation to Local Wikimania Event in San Francisco this Friday

Hi!

Wikimania is happening and hopefully you're enjoying the sessions. While it's fairly last minute, you're warmly invited to participate in the local Wikimania-themed meetup in the Wikimedia Foundation office this Friday (tomorrow!). You will have to register in advance, but we would love to see more people from the WikiSalon community participate! For more information and registration, please check out meta:Wikimania 2022/San Francisco Meetup.

The event will involve hacking, teaching, learning, and celebrating and we'll have snacks. We will have the opportunity to watch live sessions at Wikimania together in the afternoon. The rest of the day we'll have opportunity to participate in the hackathon, and we may have some on-demand workshops/learning sessions.

In case we run out of space, it's first-come-first-serve so let us know soon! Hope to see you there.
