Film infobox related info
Hello Lugnuts. Could you weigh in on this topic here? I think its relevant to your interests and you seem to be pretty level headed when discussing it. Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Anime_and_manga#Request_for_Comment:_Is_it_relevant_to_list_all_production_companies_or_just_main_animation_studios_in_the_infobox_of_film_articles? Thanks! Short descriptions
Short descriptions have already been unilaterally added to all our articles by the WMF (i.e. they are "mandatory" by WMF fiat), they're just getting automatically pulled from Wikidata so that their existence is invisible to most editors on enwp. For a mess of discussions of the problems with this and the approach taken to mitigate them (i.e. adding {{short description}}
to all articles) please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Short descriptions#History (not sure why that section isn't included on WP:SHORTDESC where it belongs). --Xover (talk) 12:58, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Xover: - thanks for the link, but there's a lot of info there. Please can you point to the exact part that states it MUST be added to all articles, including any RfCs, etc. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:02, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell that statement doesn't exist as such anywhere in there, so it's (sadly) a matter of inferring the de facto consequence. I've raised this issue at WP:SHORTDESC because "inferring" a need to mass-change 5M+ articles is not ground sufficiently firm for me to be comfortable standing on. --Xover (talk) 13:11, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- Oh, but out of curiosity, what is your objection to having them? Personally I don't see the need for short descriptions to begin with, but given they have been imposed whether we want them or not, I would much prefer to have them here where we can control them than opaquely pulled from a different project with completely different policies and processes and invisible to enwp editors. --Xover (talk) 13:14, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- I'm more concerned that something like this is being done without any real consensus to do so. It seems to be a fringe-project (at best) with about half a dozen active editors! If there was a discussion to do this, then I apologise for missing it. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 13:18, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- The history section here Wikipedia:WikiProject Short descriptions#History has a whole mess of discussions, including two RfCs, so "fringe" it is not. But I very much agree that for something that has the net effect of mandating something be added to all 5M+ articles on enwp, the lack of a RfC with a direct statement to that effect, including the word "must" (or functional equivalent), is at best uncomfortable. I happen to agree that, given the circumstances, this is the best course of action, so I'm not overly concerned with that side of it; but the lack of something "policy(ish)" to point those who disagree to is a problem in and of itself. --Xover (talk) 14:03, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy Final
Recently you redirected the page of 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy Final, I think final match should be require for every cricket, Can I redirect it?? (Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 07:26, 3 October 2018 (UTC))
- Hi. I think it's a bit of overkill for a tournament with only six matches. For major international tournaments, such as the World Cup or Asia Cup, sure, but not for this. However, if you want to create and expand it, then go for it. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:28, 3 October 2018 (UTC)

APL teams
Hello! I was thinking of creating a few articles for the teams in Afghanistan Premier League. Do you think it's too early or should I go on? Thanks, Knightrises10 (talk) 10:25, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
- @Knightrises10: - if you've got some good sources to make a start on them then you'll be fine to create them. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 11:07, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
- I'll see if I can find some sources :-) However, as the redirects are already there, should I edit them to create the articles? Knightrises10 (talk) 12:02, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, just change the redirects into articles. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:05, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
Mismatch of text and references
Hi Lugnuts, your last two edits of Laura Stigger resulted in references (currently # 9 & 10; two PDF-files) for youth results used at the end of a sentence talking of junior results. I guess you didn't intend that outcome?! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jo-Jo (talk • contribs) 12:26, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
- Ahh, right. I just removed that line that didn't make much sense. Feel free to re-jigg the order. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 12:28, 6 October 2018 (UTC)
- I thought it was a useful sentece. If you consider Remco Evenepoel - there's much talk of his past as a soccer player. Why not talking about Lauras past titles related to her current ones?
- By the way ... do you know Wikipedia:WikiProject Women? It got a top story in Austrias biggest TV-Station's website (in german): https://orf.at/stories/3047921/
- It's about discrimination. Not so positive for Wikipedia.
- I think that your creation of Laura Stigger can be seen as contribution against discrimination.
- For me Laura's youth results are not important. But the ones of Remco neither.
- I would prefer if you re-jigg the order. Because I don't understand what you meant, when writing this.
- If you don't, I will put that sentence back in the article.
- However, I'll have a bike ride now.
- :-)

Hi,Lugnuts Sorry, I will not change the name of the West Indies cricket team as this has been discussed at the Cricket Project before, and on WP it is the West Indies, not the Windes, but West Indies cricket team’s official name changed to WINDIES. The term 'Windies' has been use for a long time as a colloquial reference to the cricket teams that represent the Carribean Islands but it will now be the official name of the side.[1]

Since all the scorecards of women T20I between 463 to 487 are available in Cricinfo that include both African and south American women series... can we add in international calander of 2018...::

HCA seasons
Hi. I created season pages for Hyderabad cricket team over the last two months which extended all the way back to 2000–01 Hyderabad C.A. season. But for 2000-01 season and for 2001–02 Hyderabad C.A. season, I didn't get scorecards for the Ranji ODI Trophy matches they played during those seasons. As you can see inn the cricket match box, I placed info based on the reports I found out on ESPN Cricinfo. I would like to know if I can find those scorecards on cricketarchive and if yes, can you just place those links and also update those match boxes for just those two seasons in the above mentioned wiki pages. I don't have cricket archive subscription. If you can provide me another website which is free and have chance of finding the above info, it will be even more helpful. Thanks in advance. The article Wilhelm Krüger has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
It appears that this is a fake article, because that person never existed : he was confused with Friedrich-Wilhelm Krüger at the time of his creation. It has just been deleted from French Wikipedia where it had been copied from English Wikipedia. Please see that discussion page : [3]. Best regards. Gkml
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Gkml (talk) 16:57, 20 October 2018 (UTC)

Issues
Did you just edit the squads in 2018 BPL article? It looked horrible and much of the links were wrong. Didn't expect that. Human (talk) 14:33, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
- No, I edited them in the 2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League article, per the press release from the BCB. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 15:50, 29 October 2018 (UTC)
There's an issue. The cricketer Tahir Khail's ESPNCricinfo profile doesn't exist anymore and his name has also been removed from the match where he made his T20 debut. Please look into this matter. Human (talk) 08:41, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
- Interesting. If you look at the current scorecard, there are only ten players listed for Paktia Panthers in that match. The page at the internet archive shows him as playing, as the 11th batsman. However, I suspect from this, that they made an initital mistake, and it should be this guy. I'll sort it out. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:51, 2 November 2018 (UTC)
Up to you. You know it better. Human (talk) 09:29, 2 November 2018 (UTC)

Shikhar Dhawan trade
Hi. Someone already posted Shikhar Dhawan trade from SRH to DD in List of 2019 Indian Premier League personnel changes along with the reference from CricTracker which reported based on the ESPN Cricinfo article. But, article doesn't conclusively says if the trade went through or not. I removed their changes but they reverted it back. Can you tell me on who was wrong on that matter? Thanks. - Hi. I'd raise it on the talkpage of the article, citing the above article and asking for the other editor(s) to provide a WP:RS to confirm their edits. I agree, the article doesn't confirm it 100% - "ESPNcricinfo understands that the batsman is likely to have been traded by Sunrisers Hyderabad..." so it needs to be sourced. NCYC as it relates to cyclo-cross
Hey, I was wondering if I could pick your brain about a cycling-related notability question? The talk page for WP:CYCLING seems inactive, so I figured I'd ask you directly, as a prolific contributor in the field. I might have follow-up questions so If you're busy no problem. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 16:27, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
- Hi PMC. Yep, sure thing, fire away. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:15, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks a million. I'm trying to figure out if Geoffrey Clochez meets NCYC, but I'm not 100% clear on how the UCI classifications for cyclo-cross events translate to NCYC. Cyclo-cross events are tagged as C1 or C2; NCYC looks for 1.1 or 2.1 - are the C1/C2 roughly equivalent to those?
- And also, per Cycling Archives, Clochez won the World Championship, Cyclo-cross, Militaries 2007, but he isn't listed anywhere at 2007 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships. I'm guessing that's a different event, but I can't make sense of its significance and Google is no help. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 17:25, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
- No probs. Sadly, cyclo-cross isn't a part of cycling I know too much about (road and track, yes). Looking at his bio on Cycling Archives, the event he won took place in Poland in October, with the the full world champs taking place in January in Belgium. I'm not even 100% sure that the race he won is a top-level "world championship". There seems to be little about this individual online, and nothing that really confirms that he is/was a world champ. Here's the race report for the Belgian event, with no mention of Clochez. IMO, I don't think he meets WP:NCYC. The races he's won that are listed on CA don't seem to be that notable, and his palmares just link to the towns on WP, rather than a race itself. Hope that helps in some way! Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 17:40, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
- That does help, I appreciate it. I was especially thrown off by the use of "militaries" as a descriptor for that race - I didn't get any results when I tried to find out what that meant via Google. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 17:46, 24 November 2018 (UTC)

- Indeed! I was just about to suggest a prod, when I see you've already gone for it. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 07:11, 25 November 2018 (UTC)
- Well, after that thorough analysis of his lack of notability, no point waiting :) If it gets de-PROD'd I'll probably ping you to the AfD, if that's cool. Also, if I run into any other cyclists in the Feb 09 orphans and can't work out if they're notable, mind if I run them past you? I don't expect there'll be too many, but you never know. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 08:06, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

What do you make of Carlos Adames (pl:Carlos Adames) and Carlos Adames. Same day & month of birth, year varies by 1; same country; both welterweights; the pl.wiki article fights finish in 2014, the en.wiki fights pick up from 2015. Currently they have different wikidata items. --Tagishsimon (talk) 23:00, 25 November 2018 (UTC)

List of LGBT-related films of the 1920s
Hey Lugnuts, do you have any idea why Manslaughter is listed at List of LGBT-related films of the 1920s? It seems like maybe you added it in the process of splitting the list off from List of LGBT-related films (as it doesn't seem to have ever been listed in List of LGBT-related films). I'm interested more for the sake of accuracy than attribution, as it isn't obvious why Manslaughter would be LGBT-related. Kaldari (talk) 00:53, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Kaldari. Short answer is - I don't know. As you say, it's always been apart of the bigger list before I did the decade splits back in 2012. This edit added a LGBT category into the film article, also in 2012. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 08:27, 1 December 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks. According to an internet discussion forum, it's the first film to show a same-sex romantic kiss. Waiting to get a book from the library to confirm (The Guinness book of movie facts & feats). Kaldari (talk) 22:40, 1 December 2018 (UTC)

New Template Develop
Hi, I developed a new template ,this template I implemented on Indian cricket team in Australia in 2018–19 as Full Scorecard on 1st t20 match.Should we implement on every Match ,I want suggestion, thanks(Mr.Mani Raj Paul (talk) 14:10, 2 December 2018 (UTC))
- God no, it looks terrible. And there's no need to add the full scorecard for each and every match. While you've obviously spent some time on this, I would strongly recommend not to continue with this, as it won't be used by the Cricket Project. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:11, 2 December 2018 (UTC)

I have edited about two years and mostly in film. A while back I asked you whether you were addicted to Wikipedia and got a similar inscrutable answer. I am a political scientist and I look for patterns of power. Somehow I seemed to see your editing and you seem to have power in the wiki world and yet very independent. One time I made a comment about the powers to be and you added no one is controlled. You are a stranger to me but interesting. I sure do not like what happened to Jytdog but like you I don't know him from Adam. You edit a great deal and I wondered if being in the top ten was important to you. Just a curiosity question. No need to respond. Eschoryii (talk) 03:40, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
- It's not important, it's just a natural by-product of prolific editing. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:11, 12 December 2018 (UTC)
A New stats to be uploaded on Pearl Jam page
Please see on the Pearl Jam page that they have sold over 85 million copies worldwide which is cited from a very reliable source that is Seattle Foundation. But in Pearl Jam's Discography page, there is still that old stats mentioning that the band has sold only 60m copies. Please update it on that page too and if you can then also quote them as one of the best selling music artists ever as done with all others having sold this much. Also the page best selling music artists should have their name so can you also add it there. Thanks. HardSunBadMoon (talk) 08:24, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
International cricket in 2019
This was the reasoning I posted which you decided to revert without explaining why other than the original reason you gave, to which I had given my original reasoning: "When the West Indies host a series, the West Indian flag is used, not the individual countries' flag. Similarly, English flag is used even if Wales hosts matches. See also the flag used for "2017 Ireland Tri-Nation Series" in the page "International cricket in 2017""
What this means is, if the Irish cricket team is hosting, you should use the flag of the Irish cricket team. When Windies hosted the recent WWT20, was the flag for every Caribbean country used? Was the Welsh flag used to show any England ODIs that were played in Cardiff? Furthermore, on previous occasions when Ireland has hosted tournaments, you yourself used the Irish cricket flag, so what is going on with the consistency? Womens tours in International cricket season
Hii. This year in October, Chinese womens cricket team toured South Korea to play Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) (even ESPN Cricinfo has stated it WT20I matches. And now in January 2019 Zimbabwe Womens team is going to play Namibia Women in 5 Women's Twenty20 International (WT20Is). ICC has granted Full T20Is status to members so why these tours are not added to International cricket seasons? Aditya tamhankar (talk) 16:15 PM (IST)

Points details in Ranji Trophy match template
As you know points allocation cannot be deduced simply from result. 2018 County Championship displays the points although it uses collapsible template. I know you would have some good reason or rule for not including the points details in match template but it would be good if you would be able to share them. Shubham389 (talk) 12:47, 25 December 2018 (UTC) Hey Lugnuts did u miss my post? Shubham389 (talk) 14:34, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
- They seem to only be added to the County Championship articles, the vast majority of season articles don't use them. They're esoteric, we don't need to add every little detail and the points table suffices. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 14:38, 30 December 2018 (UTC)
