Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to M1911 pistol. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 20:50, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Re your message: The M1911 was manufactured by Colt Firearms, but it was not designed by Samuel Colt. John Browning is the designer. Samuel Colt died in 1862, which is decades before the M1911 was designed. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:09, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Re your message: Colt Firearms' role in the M1911 is covered in the article extensively. See the entire History section of the article. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:28, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Re your message: I think part of the problem is that they have been many different manufacturers of the M1911 throughout the years, not just Colt. You can bring up your request on the article talk page. A similar observation was discussed in 2008 without any resolution. There are many other editors interested in the M1911, so perhaps this time a consensus can be achieved to further point out Colt in the gun's history. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 21:47, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 21:33, 6 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
