DMySon's socks

Hello. MER-C, thanks for keeping the project clean and filing this Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/John Rayn. I ran through their log and found an interesting pattern: majority of their clients are from India and they review their own socks pages pretty quickly (within minutes!). I've had quite enough of this incompetent paid editor who has flip flopped on their status multiple times, despite partially disclosing once, telling me on the help chat they were paid and now saying they are not. The Notre-Dame fire broke out in the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris on 15 April 2019, causing severe damage to the building's spire, roof, and upper walls. The fire resulted in the contamination of the site and nearby areas of the city with toxic dust and lead. Investigators believed that the fire was caused by a cigarette or an electrical short circuit; the prosecutor of Paris found no evidence showing the fire was started deliberately. The cathedral's wooden spire, or flèche, was built by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc in the Gothic Revival style and installed in 1859, weighing around 250 tons. This photograph, taken during the 2019 fire, depicts the spire of Notre-Dame aflame; it collapsed shortly afterwards.

The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp is a 1632 oil-on-canvas painting by Rembrandt housed in the Mauritshuis museum in The Hague, Netherlands. The painting is regarded as one of Rembrandt's early masterpieces. In the work, Nicolaes Tulp is pictured explaining the musculature of the arm to a group of doctors. Some of the spectators are various doctors who paid to be included in the painting. The painting is signed in the top-left hand corner Rembrandt. f[ecit] 1632. This may be the first instance of Rembrandt signing a painting with his forename (in its original form) as opposed to the monogram RHL ("Rembrandt Harmenszoon of Leiden"), and is thus a sign of his growing artistic confidence.

Haboku sansui (破墨山水図, Broken Ink Landscape) is a splashed-ink landscape painting on a hanging scroll. It was made by the Japanese artist Sesshū Tōyō in 1495, in the Muromachi period. Sesshū Tōyō was a Zen Buddhist monk and painter. The work is a development of suibokuga paintings made with Chinese ink, using dark and light shades on a silk or paper medium. The monochromatic style can result in artworks similar to calligraphy. In spite of its title, the work is not one of "broken ink" (haboku) but rather one of "splashed ink" (hatsuboku). In this style, the painter avoids strongly defined outlines, with shapes indicated by colour washes in lighter and darker tones.

The red wattlebird (Anthochaera carunculata) is a passerine bird native to southern Australia. At 33 to 37 centimetres (13 to 14+12 in) in length, it is the second-largest species of Australian honeyeater. The species is found in open forest and woodland, and is a common visitor to urban gardens and parks. Loud and conspicuous, the red wattlebird is generally found in trees, where it gets most of its food; occasionally it forages on the ground. It is one of the largest nectarivorous birds in the world, feeding from a wide variety of flowering plants, though insects also comprise part of its diet. It is territorial and at times aggressive towards birds of other species, often defending rich sources of nectar. Although it has declined in places from land clearing, it is classified as a least-concern species on the IUCN Red List.

Hi MER-C. I want you to look into this page Ryan Kavanaugh when you have the time. This editor named "Throast" has consistently edited this page more that every other editor for months now. He claims to be the sole editor who has right to update the page as he wants. He obviously has COI issues judging by the nature of his edits on the page. Because he claims to be an extended user, he reverts edits by others or asks them to discuss their edits on the talk page. But most often, he won't discuss his edit on the talk page. At one occasion, he tried asking for a consensus on the talk page only to proceed to effect the changes without hearing from others. He makes changes on the page at will. He makes sure both COI and non-COI editors who attempt to edit the page are banned by all means while he keeps having fun editing the page as he wills.

Recently, he added a "Controversy" tab just to keep emphasizing the negative aspects of the subject as against the rules of WP:BLP. Please look into it. I believe he needs to be sanctioned. Thanks.46.252.47.133 (talk) 20:15, 26 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Its common name, the mossy frog, arises from the fact that its skin is a mottled green and brown that resembles moss growing on rock, forming an effective camouflage. It has large sticky pads on its toes and a soft underbelly, with a snout–vent length of 61 millimetres (2.4 in). The females grow larger than the males and can reach sizes of 8 to 9 centimetres (3.1 to 3.5 in). When frightened, it will curl into a ball and play dead. This T. corticale frog was photographed at Karlsruhe Zoo in Germany.

The northern gannet (Morus bassanus) is a seabird, the largest species of the gannet family, Sulidae. It is native to the coasts of the Atlantic Ocean, breeding in Western Europe and northeastern North America.

Nesting takes place in colonies on both sides of the North Atlantic, the largest of which are at Bass Rock, St. Kilda, and Ailsa Craig in Scotland; Grassholm in Wales; and Bonaventure Island off the coast of Quebec. Colonies are mostly located on offshore islands with cliffs, from which the birds can more easily launch into the air. The northern gannet undertakes seasonal migrations and catches fish (which are the mainstay of its diet) by making high-speed dives into the sea.

The northern gannet was previously hunted for food in certain parts of its range, and although that practice still continues in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland and the Faroe Islands, the bird faces few other natural or man-made threats.

The human genome is the complete set of nucleic acid sequences for humans, encoded as DNA within the 23 chromosome pairs in cell nuclei and in small DNA molecules found within mitochondria. This includes both protein-coding DNA sequences and various types of DNA that does not encode proteins. This schematic representation of the human diploid karyotype shows the organization of the human genome into chromosomes, as well as annotated bands and sub-bands as seen on G banding. The diagram shows both the female (XX) and male (XY) versions of the 23rd chromosome pair. Chromosomal changes during the cell cycle are displayed at the top center. The human mitochondrial genome is shown to scale at the bottom left.

The rosy-faced lovebird (Agapornis roseicollis), also known as the rosy-collared or peach-faced lovebird, is a species of lovebird native to arid regions in southwestern Africa such as the Namib. A loud and constant chirper, they are very social and often congregate in small groups in the wild. They eat throughout the day and take frequent baths. Coloration can vary widely among populations, and plumage is identical in males and females. Lovebirds are renowned for their sleep position in which they sit side-by-side and turn their faces in towards each other. Females are well noted to tear raw materials into long strips, "twisty-tie" them onto their backs, and fly substantial distances back to make a nest. These photographs of a rosy-faced lovebird of the subspecies A. r. roseicollis, seen from the front (top) and the back (bottom), were taken in Erongo Region, Namibia.

A mudpot, or mud pool, is a type of acidic hot spring, or fumarole, with limited water. It usually takes the form of a pool of bubbling mud. The acid and microorganisms decompose surrounding rock into clay and mud. The mud of a mudpot takes the form of a viscous, often bubbling, slurry. As the boiling mud is often squirted over the brims of the mudpot, a sort of mini-volcano of mud starts to build up, sometimes reaching heights of 1 to 1.5 meters (3 to 5 ft). The mud is generally of white to greyish color, sometimes stained with reddish or pink spots from iron compounds. When the slurry is particularly colorful, the feature may be referred to as a paint pot. This video of a bubbling mudpot was captured in Lassen Volcanic National Park in northern California.

Wilhering Abbey is a Cistercian monastery in Wilhering in Upper Austria, about 8 km (5 mi) from the city of Linz. The buildings, re-constructed in the 18th century, are known for their spectacular Rococo decoration. According to the German art historian Cornelius Gurlitt, "the abbey church of Wilhering is the most brilliant achievement of the Rococo style in the German-speaking world". This photograph depicts the interior of the church, looking towards the high altar, featuring the intricate ceiling frescoes and stucco work.

The Adoration of the Shepherds is an episode in the story of the Nativity of Jesus in which shepherds are near witnesses to Jesus's birth in Bethlehem. It is based on the account in the Gospel of Luke and follows the Annunciation to the Shepherds, in which the shepherds are summoned by an angel to the scene of the birth. Like the episode preceding it, the Adoration of the Shepherds is a common subject in art, where it is often combined with the Adoration of the Magi. Depictions of the shepherds' adoration of the Christ Child as a subject distinct from that of the biblical Magi began to appear around the 15th century in artworks and altarpieces in the western Christian world. The shepherds are sometimes shown presenting simpler gifts than those of the Magi, such as lambs. This Adoration of the Shepherds is an oil-on-canvas painting by Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, a Spanish Baroque artist. Painted around 1650, the work is now in the Museo del Prado in Madrid.

The Orchid Pavilion Gathering, also known as the Lanting Gathering, was a cultural and poetic event held in China in 353, during the Jin dynasty of the Six Dynasties era. During the Spring Purification Festival, forty-two literati met at the Orchid Pavilion (Lanting) on Mount Kuaiji, near present-day Shaoxing in Zhejiang. This 7th-century scroll, now at the Palace Museum in Beijing, is considered to be the best of the surviving copies of the Lantingji Xu, written by Wang Xizhi as a preface to the collection of poems produced at the Orchid Pavilion Gathering. Copies of the work were made throughout Chinese history. The text reads, in part: "Reading past compositions, I can recognize the same melancholy from the ancients. I can only lament before their words without being able to verbalize my feelings. [...] The future generations will look upon us, just like we look upon our past. How sad! Hence, we record the people presented here today and their works; even though time and circumstances will be different, the feelings expressed will remain unchanged."

Sphaerechinus granularis is a species of sea urchin in the family Toxopneustidae, commonly known as the violet sea urchin. Its range includes the Mediterranean Sea and the eastern Atlantic Ocean, from the Channel Islands south to Cape Verde and the Gulf of Guinea. It favours sheltered locations and lives on rocks covered with seaweed or gravelly substrates. It is usually found in the neritic zone down to about thirty metres (100 ft) but occasionally down to a hundred metres (330 ft) in more exposed locations. It is also found in meadows of the seagrass Posidonia oceanica. It grazes on algae, especially encrusting coralline algae, seagrass blades and their epiphytic organisms and detritus. This S. granularis sea urchin was photographed off the coast of Madeira.

Temporary PMR on my mobile account

Hi MER-C, you might be aware that my laptop got accidentally damaged and I'm not in a position to access my main account until the laptop is back. The service provider says it'd be by 7 July because there's some sort of lockdown in China and the part (LCD) is in transit. I need to push some articles back to draft (and I don't want to burden admins by leaving behind redirects) and also help at RMT; could you please add temporary page mover rights to my mobile account? I asked Primefac, but it looks like they are occupied and busy elsewhere. Regards, ─ The Aafī on Mobile (talk) 16:35, 4 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Done. MER-C 08:58, 5 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks MER-C. Do you have idea about why are the redirects left behind after a page move left as unreviewed? I moved a few pages and then received notifications that the redirects left behind were marked as reviewed? Is this usual when one doesn't have autopatrolled flag? Cephalanthus occidentalis is a species of flowering plant in the family Rubiaceae native to eastern and southern North America. Common names include buttonbush, common buttonbush, button-willow, buck brush, and honey-bells. It is a deciduous shrub or small tree that averages 1 to 3 m (3.3 to 9.8 ft) in height, but can reach 6 m (20 ft). The flowers are arranged in a dense spherical inflorescence 2 to 3.5 cm (0.79 to 1.38 in) in diameter on a short peduncle. Each flower has a fused white to pale yellow four-lobed corolla forming a long slender tube connecting to the sepals. The stigma protrudes slightly from the corolla. The fruit is a spherical cluster of achenes (nutlets). This C. occidentalis plant, of the occidentalis variety, was photographed flowering in Point Pelee National Park in Ontario, Canada.

Laetiporus sulphureus is a species of bracket fungus (fungi that grow on trees) found in Europe and North America. Due to its taste, Laetiporus sulphureus has been called the "chicken polypore" and "chicken-of-the-woods" Many people also think that the mushroom tastes like crab or lobster leading to the nickname "lobster-of-the-woods". The authors of Mushrooms in Color said that the mushroom tastes good sauteed in butter or prepared in a cream sauce served on toast or rice.

The Divine Comedy is an Italian narrative poem by Dante Alighieri, begun around 1308 and completed in around 1321, shortly before the author's death. The poem's imaginative vision of the afterlife is representative of the medieval worldview as it existed in the Western Church by the 14th century. It helped establish the Tuscan dialect, in which it is written, as the standardized Italian language. It is divided into three parts: Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso. The subject of the narrative is the state of the soul after death and presents an image of divine justice meted out as due punishment or reward. In the poem, Dante travels through Hell, Purgatory and Heaven, and is accompanied by three guides: the Roman poet Virgil (who accompanies him for all of Hell and most of Purgatory), Dante's muse Beatrice (at the end of Purgatory and for most of Heaven) and Saint Bernard of Clairvaux (who guides him in the final cantos of Heaven).

This oil-on-canvas painting, titled Dante and Virgil and completed by the French artist William-Adolphe Bouguereau in 1850, depicts Dante with Virgil observing two damned souls in eternal combat in Hell. Capocchio, an alchemist and heretic, is being bitten on the neck by the trickster Gianni Schicchi, who had used fraud to claim another man's inheritance. The painting now hangs in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.

Hargreaves Review Deletion (2019)

Hi, I'm sure you don't remember this routine deletion from 3 years ago, but I'm curious as to why it happened and would be interested in remedying the issue. However, I can't find any record of what the alleged copyvio within Hargreaves Review of Intellectual Property and Growth was or its page history. Does that mean the article itself was suppressed? All it points to is a copyvio investigation page for a user who edited the article that notes that Hargreaves article was blanked before it was deleted, but I'm not sure what that means, either. Low-priority, no stress. It took me a few years to even notice it was missing, after all. Thanks for your time and any help you might provide. lethargilistic (talk) 09:51, 17 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Unlinking deleted articles

Hello, MER-C,

I hope you are having a pleasant summer. I have noticed that you often delete articles that have been tagged for having copyright issues. Frequently, these are articles that have been around for a while and are linked to other Wikipedia articles. It would be great if, when you delete them, you could remove all of the red links that are caused by the article's deletion. Doing this manually is a time-consuming task but if you have Twinkle installed, it happens very fast. If you delete a page using Twinkle, the tool not only deletes all redirects to the page but a box pops up offering to unlink all mentions of the deleted article. If you don't use Twinkle to delete pages but you still have it installed, in the Twinkle menu (last tab to the right in the menu at the top of the page), there is an "Unlink" option. Just put in the reason, like "Deleted article" or "Deleted PROD", and submit and the program will remove all of the red links leaving the subject's name in ordinary black color like all over unlinked words.

Sometimes, it is worth the extra effort to go and remove any unlinked reference to the deleted article, for example, I often find older biographies often have a mention on Surname listing pages that is worth removing. But an unlinked mention is not as jarring for readers as those red links to articles that have been deleted and are unlikely to be recreatd any time soon. Any way, I thought I'd pass this tip along. Stay cool! Liz Read! Talk! 20:39, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

When deleting something for copyright problems, I am not making any judgement as to whether the subject merits inclusion. Many of the BH deletions do get recreated, some quite quickly. The spam however, needs to be orphaned manually. MER-C 15:51, 31 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
