Communities
editPlease stop creating unreferenced stubs about individual communities or neighbourhoods inside incorporated municipalities. I don't know how many more times you're going to need this explained to you — and trust me, the fact that you always end up in and around Milton is a dead giveaway here — but the municipality is the lowest level at which a place is "entitled" to an article just because it exists.
Anything lower than that — neighbourhood, community, hamlet, subdivision, whatever — may have an article only if you can add real reliable sources which demonstrate why the place is notable enough to warrant a separate article, rather than merely being mentioned in the main article on Milton or Quinte West; if such references are not present, then the community is not entitled to anything more than a redirect to the municipality that governs it. Unreferenced stubs are not acceptable, and the mere fact that the place exists is not good enough if the place isn't actually a fully incorporated municipality in its own right. - Referencing also does not mean that you can add any random weblink which demonstrates that the place exists; references have to be to reliable sources, such as books, newspaper articles or other media coverage about the community in sources independent of the topic. The fact that you can add a link to a page on the city's website about the Appleby arena does not demonstrate that Appleby is notable enough for a separate article; the fact that you can add links to pages which merely use Kilbride's geographic coordinates to automatically generate a "tourist guide" which just lists the distance from Kilbride to things in other places does not demonstrate that Kilbride is notable.
- You need sources such as ongoing coverage in the Toronto Star or The Globe and Mail or other major newspapers, history books which delve into the community, and other sources which provide in depth coverage of Kilbride or Appleby themselves — the article is not "referenced" just because you can add a link to some random web page which happens to mention the neighbourhood's existence, if that web page doesn't meet our reliable sourcing rules. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Kilbride Ontario Satellite.png
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on File:Kilbride Ontario Satellite.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
