The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. @MaggieSteinb I came here to ask the same as the above message: please start using edit summaries when you are making changes.
While your edits are often quite good contributions, in some it is completely unclear what you changed or what the intention of your edit was.
It takes a lot of time for other editors to review tons of small changes with no edit summaries, and it's better overall for an accurate history of page changes if you leave an indication of what you were trying to do with an edit. August 2024 - Why Refuse To Use Edit Summaries?

  Hello MaggieSteinb. You have been reminded several times before - why won't you provide a summary of every edit you make?

According to Wikipedia's consensus policy, all edits should be explained —either by clear edit summaries, or by discussion on the associated talk page.

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit and a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. As a reminder: When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

If the edit is minor, the "This is a minor edit" box can be checked. See, Help:Minor_edit. A good rule of thumb is that only edits consisting solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of the content may be flagged as minor edits.

Inexperienced editors often fail to recognize the need for edit summaries; however, for an experienced editor, failure to provide edit summaries appears arrogant and inconsiderate specially since summaries are so easy to add.
