Speedy deletion nomination of Alexander Beauchamp Cameron

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Alexander Beauchamp Cameron requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.alexanderbeauchampcameron.co.uk/about.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi I have now edited my website so having followed the wikipedia guidelines so that they information on Alexander G beauchamp cameron can be shared but I can see that his page has been deleted anyway :( what can we do? Thank you

Don't worry, the content hadn't been deleted. It was just temporarily hidden. I see that you've changed the license claim on your website so I've restored the content. Also, I'm no expert on this topic but it's not entirely clear to me that you hold the copyrights for the images. If a painting is owned by a museum or gallery, then they probably hold the rights to the photographs of those paintings. You should probably clarify their status. Again, I'm happy to help as best I can. Pichpich (talk) 21:15, 27 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
(follow-up) I've tried to clean up the article a little bit and added some wikilinks and categories. I can't assess the copyright status of the pictures of paintings but I am absolutely certain that the two images scanned from newspapers are copyright violations and have asked for them to be deleted. Thanks so much! This looks great! We defintely own the copyright to the pictures shown.. As they are all photographs taken by myself of works in my grandfathers own photograph album which he was allowed to share pictures of in any capacity having painted them himself. Regarding the newspaper aritcles again he was allowed to photograph these as long as he gave reference to the source which of course is on the actual article but I understand if you would feel uncomfortable showing it here. I greatly appreciate your help :)
