Notability of Angela Marcela Pérez Mendoza
editA tag has been placed on Angela Marcela Pérez Mendoza, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Metropolitan90 04:06, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

- Actually, I did not delete the article. I am not an administrator, so I do not have the power to do so (nor do I desire it). I merely marked the article as likely meeting the criteria for speedy deletion. And administrator then actually determines whether or not it will be deleted. The article seemed to be pretty obvious is meeting the speedy-delete criteria. If you wish, you may post the article again, and if it is marked for speedy deletion again, immediately post a {{hangon}} tag to announce that you contest the speedy deletion. That will tell admins that you would at least like them to take a look, but it will not guarantee that the article will not be speedily deleted anyway. If you simply need more time to develop the article, put an {{underconstruction}} tag at the beginning to let editors know this is a work in progress. Realkyhick 04:58, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- An addendum: I went back through my browser to see just why I had tagged the article. The thought of a 21-year-old college student being notable enough to meet Wikipedia notability policies is pretty farfetched, to put it mildly. It is not a matter of authoritarianism, but just common sense. Realkyhick 05:02, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- If you're basing notability on your own interviews and talks with her, that is considered original research, which is also not allowed on Wikipedia. As for local magazines, you'd have to be a bit more specific, especially if they don't have something you can link to on the Internet. You can get by with just citations of printed matter (see WP:ATT and WP:CITE), but in this case, you're really facing an uphill battle. Someone of her age is simply not likely to have established enough notability in her field to meet Wikipedia's notability standards. She may at some time in the future (and I wish her the best in her endeavors), but she doesn't now.
- You can go ahead and try again, but be advised that once you are done, it is highly likely that an editor will put a {{prod}} tag on the article, which proposes it for deletion within five days without objection. If someone (including you) objects, then it is nominated as an article for deletion and undergoes a formal review process. If you should lose that, then you are out of luck until the day came when the subject does establish notability. Realkyhick 05:19, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:PDVSA.gif)
editThanks for uploading Image:PDVSA.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 20:41, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

The increased vandalism is probably due to UEFA Euro 2008. As for AoE3, I actually don't play too often anymore (though I've certainly not forgotten how ;). Send me an e-mail if you ever want a game. · AndonicO Engage. 20:03, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey
editHey, I'm the author of the Klaas-Jan Huntelaar article, thanks for helping out with the article. I'm curious, how does a Colombian get a username like Mannschaftskapitän???? :) JACOPLANE • 2008-06-19 22:04
- Hehe, I hope that the final will be Holland - Germany, actually, so we Dutch can take revenge for the 1974 FIFA World Cup final (guy you see at the beginning speaking Dutch is Rinus Michels, the best coach ever, btw). Thanks for the compliment on the Huntelaar article :) I've put a lot of effort into improving the article. Cheers! JACOPLANE • 2008-06-19 22:42
Don't you think these articles would look better if the Club performances and International goals sections were both near the bottom of the article, with all the text first followed by these charts? It just looks out of place or something. Hubschrauber729 (talk) 04:37, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yes the Michael Ballack page would be a good format to use. Hubschrauber729 (talk) 05:08, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Header standards?
editHello. Can you please point me to the header standards you are coding to in articles such as Athletics at the 2008 Summer Olympics - Men's 100 metres? I'm not familiar with placing level 3 sections immediately following the lead (level 1) section and TOC. The section appears like a level 2 in the TOC, but doesn't display as such. Most articles I can find have a level 2 section after the TOC. Thanks. -- Tcncv (talk) 01:40, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Even WP:MOS follows the TOC with a level 2, not a level 3. -- Tcncv (talk) 01:43, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I'm certainly not using the word "standard" as a whole but only for the single aporting events articles that are being held at Beijing 2008. Since Day 1, the people who are working in the events single articles (just like the one you cited, Men's 100m) have used and enforced the use of a slightly different header style for the Medalists chart. You won't find a big discussion in the Olympics portal about the issue because of its relative unimportance and since the start of the games, it has been more like a consuetudinary agreement, not an explicit one. Just as your pointing, in the TOC, the section "Medalists" is listed like a ==H2== but it is not: the reason to use a ===H3=== is that the the header is bolder and more visible for the reader who, we imagine, will be searching for the athletes who managed to win the medals in a specific event. Besides, we consider that the medalists table is part of the starting section as it gives a summary explanation of the main highlights of the event, complete results come further in the article. Mannschaftskapitän (talk) 01:59, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- When I compare H2 and H3 styles, I see both are bolded, but the H2 is slightly larger and has a horizontal rule. Are you seeing something different? I'm using Firefox 3.0.1 and the default Wikipedia style (monobook, I believe). -- Tcncv (talk) 02:08, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

- Believe me: ===H3=== is no bigger than ==H2== but it is bolder. Besides the line that goes below ==H2== makes the medalists table look out of place as it should be attached to the starting summary section. Complete finishing results are below. Mannschaftskapitän (talk) 02:17, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- I don't mean to argue, but when I look at the monobook CSS], I see "h2 { font-size: 150%; }" and "h3 { font-size: 132%; }", and see a distinct difference here viewed from both IE and Firefox.. Perhaps your browner is using a different style. But I also see the logic of making the medals a subsection of the lead section, so I'll stop bothering you. Oh, ... and thank you for your contributions. -- Tcncv (talk) 02:37, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

editThank you Byron for providing the medal table for Equestrian at the 2008 Summer Olympics - Team jumping With kind Regards from Metro Vancouver, Canada, Leoboudv (talk) 03:58, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- The Equestrian team jumping results are at the bottom of this Olympics table from NBC. [2] Both Canada and the US had 20 points so I don't know why they weren't tied for gold. But what's done is done. Regards, Leoboudv (talk) 08:02, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

New record table
editThanks for catching and fixing my errors in Athletics at the 2008 Summer Olympics - Men's 50 kilometre walk. I didn't pick up the recent record and than assumed evrything that was final that I didn't have a record for, was a no-new-record. That one stilled through the crack, and screwed up in my haste to fix my original omission. -- Tcncv (talk) 06:20, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invite to the African Destubathon
editHi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)
