New article question
editThanks for the message on my talk page. Whether you want to edit existing articles or create new articles, you have to follow applicable policies and guidelines, as I listed in answer to your question on Wikipedia:New contributors' help page. The overriding question is whether your business is notable as described in WP:CORP. If it is not, or notability cannot be verified by reliable sources, then the article will be deleted - not every business is notable enough per WP standards to deserve its own article and WP is not a directory or advertising medium. In addition, because it is your business, you have a massive conflict of interest and are advised against creating such an article - if it is notable, someone will write an article about it sooner or later. Hope this helps. – ukexpat (talk) 21:23, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- No, you don't have to demonstrate your credibility in order to create an article. New editors are advised to start off editing other article just to get the hang of how things work round here. I have set up a user sandbox for you to experiment in: User:Margelennon/Sandbox. I suggest that you write the article there so that it won't be subject to deletion -- I will add it to my watchlist and stop by to help out. – ukexpat (talk) 21:45, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
