Speedy deletion nomination of User:Markmegee/Gary Alexander (martial art pioneer)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Markmegee/Gary Alexander (martial art pioneer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Gary Alexander article suggestions

edit

I have a couple of suggestions that might help improve the article on Gary Alexander. It's better to improve it before it's placed in the article space and is subject to deletion. First, you might want to change "martial arts pioneer" to "martial artist" in the title because it's more neutral sounding. Second, a list of articles he's had published in magazines will improve the article. Third, you might want to get an online link to the Black Belt magazine article you reference. Finally, his fighting championships could use more sources. For example, did you check the New York Times archives? An event held at Madison Square Garden should have drawn some press coverage. Papaursa (talk) 18:01, 25 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Changed from pioneer to martial artist. Black Belt magazine does not have online links, and back then karate was not front page news for New York Times so I got the newspaper that listed it, Black Belt magazine has been around for fifty yars and is considered the premier matrial arts magaizne in the country. Thanks for your help... ~~ Mark Megee ~~

American Chinese Kenpo Karate

edit

American Chinese Kenpo Karate is a unique mixture of Ed Parker's American Kenpo Karate, the Tracy Brothers' Chinese Kenpo Karate, and the additional techniques derived by the system’s founder, Grandmaster George Elmer of NJ. "Chinese Karate" relates to Mr. Elmer's training with the Tracy karate chain, and "American Kenpo" with his training with the Parker lineage. These two arts combined, create the foundation for the ACKKS. [1]

There are names for all the techniques in ACKKS, based originally on the names for various techniques and actions from the numerous Chinese Kung Fu systems. In ACKKS, we us two formats to assist the students in remembering the numerous techniques in ACKKS. First of all, there are certain Kenpo "code words" that are used to describe attacks, targets, and or "salient features" of a given technique. ACKKS uses elements of Mr. Parker's "synonyms" and Technique names ["Delayed Sword"] in certain instances, and the names of certain Tracy Kenpo techniques ["Breaking the Cross"] in others, as well as the unique terminology and names that Mr. Elmer has designed for his own system ["Crossing the Blades"]. [2]

The founder of American Chinese Kenpo Karate (“ACKKS”) Grandmaster George Elmer has been training in Kenpo Karate since 1965 and is a member of the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame, World Karate Union Hall of Fame and the World Combat Arts Federation. Grandmaster Elmer has trained hundreds of students locally, nationally and internationally. [3]
