Please be careful with your selection of references

edit

Hi Martin Hipangwa. I noticed that you recently used fampeople.com as a reference in Henri Bergson. I am unable to find any evidence or discussion indicating that it meets reliable sourcing criteria for such information, instead I'm seeing many discussions where it is rejected outright. I've gone ahead and removed it. If you disagree, let's discuss it.

I find it helpful to use WP:RSP and WP:RSN before I use a reference that I'm not familiar with. --Hipal/Ronz (talk) 22:47, 29 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Draft:Lisa Matomola

edit

If this was the first article that you created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

The page Draft:Lisa Matomola has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appeared to be a direct copy from https://economist.com.na/68060/human-resources/human-resources-specialist-to-share-strategies-for-2022/, https://neweralive.na/posts/be-ambitious-and-ready-for-every-phase-of-work, and https://twitter.com/mieyolisa/status/1346078260904521732. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition has been be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion Review. Sarah Iyaloo Negumbo moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Sarah Iyaloo Negumbo, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 18:16, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Isabella Guriras. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:43, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Liz
Thank you. What happened was that, I published the article prematurely while I was still editing it. and someone in a blink of an eye moved it already to the draft space while i was writing. I lost the original article, which only reappeared later. Since I did more retouching on the draft, I just moved that information to the article. If you can merge the article for attribution, please assist. Kind Regard Martin Hipangwa (talk) 09:30, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm DarkAudit. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Patience Masua—because it did not appear constructive. DarkAudit (talk) 08:53, 28 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello DarkAudit
I am not experimenting with anything; rather, I am just updating the Namibian women's biographies. To revert the changes could possibly mean that they don't add any value at all while, in essence, they do. I implore you to familiarize yourself with the subject and use the provided references to see how this information adds value to these pages. I am writing from an informed point of view. I would suggest that you improve the article rather than reverting the contributions.

Proposed deletion of Lidwina Ndeshimona Shapwa

The article Lidwina Ndeshimona Shapwa has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

While accomplished, not enough in-depth coverage to meet WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Miss Namibia

Hello

When adding the name of a winner of this pageant, you MUST cite a reliable source OR add a citation needed tag. Adding the name is not enough.

I have added the CN tag for you.

If you do not do the above, you could be prevented from editing on Wikipedia in the future.

Heidi bradshaw (talk) 22:40, 20 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate your insightful criticism on my most recent edit. I wholeheartedly agree with your previous statement that simply adding the name is insufficient.
This is quite recent, and the mainline media houses only published the pageantry coverage today, since i could not rely on one source of information or let alone Facebook or X where information was published first. However, as this is a collaborative encyclopedia, as you are undoubtedly aware, I have not finished revising the page or adding references to the material I have just added. It was not necessary for this engagement to determine whether or not I would be prohibited from updating Wikipedia in the future.
Plus, how can you just determine that a citation was not added when I was just still busy with the article?
The fact that you did not include a CN tag despite there being 39 winning entries in the table just serves to highlight your biassed assessment.
In my view, you were just suppose to add a CN tag so that the next person can improve the article. My request is now for you to provide CN tags to those names where there are no references because we need to provide references to them.
But, well thanks for the intervention. Martin Hipangwa (talk) 17:47, 21 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
