Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead.
Using detailed edit summaries is the best way to ensure that your good faith edits are not reverted by recent changes patrollers or other wikieditors. Thanks and happy editing! — SpikeToronto 05:53, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
Hi MaryEllyn. I see at Linton Chamber Music Series you are trying to insert inline, verifiable references/citations. This is terrific! Unfortunately, you are not doing it correctly and so are being reverted by recent changes patrollers. (Your not using edit summaries is not helping the matter.)
I would like to suggest to you that you take a look at WP:REFBEGIN. It is a great primer on how to insert references into wikiarticles. Also, take a look at WP:CITE for policies/guidelines regarding citations. Good luck! — SpikeToronto 05:53, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- I’ve fixed your footnotes. If you have the URLs (i.e., the web addresses) for any of the articles cited in the footnotes, give them to me and I’ll insert them into the footnotes. Thanks! — SpikeToronto 06:31, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
