File source problem with File:Chandima Weerakkody.JPEG

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Chandima Weerakkody.JPEG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:33, 20 June 2009 (UTC). Speedy deletion nomination of File:Lal Dharmapriya Gamage.JPEG

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Lal Dharmapriya Gamage.JPEG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of Ranil Mallawarachchi

edit

A tag has been placed on Ranil Mallawarachchi, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.  Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 01:33, 26 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Prasanna Hennayaka. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:31, 30 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello Masu7! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 3 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Nalanda College Crest.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Nalanda College Crest.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Cut and paste moves

edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. --Cameron Scott (talk) 06:52, 21 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Carl Obeysekera

edit

I use CricketArchive to search for players. It's maintained by members of the ACS, so is rarely wrong. A search using CricketArchive's player oracle reveals one Obeysekera, a Brian Obeysekera who played one first-class match. I can find no mention of Carl. Prior to Test status, few domestic matches in Sri Lanka/Ceylon could be rated as first-class. During the 1949/50 season two first-class matches were played. Obeysekera featured in neither match. Nalanda has never been a first-class team. The Nondescripts Cricket Club didn't play a first-class match until 1989. In all likelihood Carl never featured in a major match!

As you seem to have an interest in Sri Lankan cricket, you might be interested to know lists exist of Sri Lankan first-class cricketers needing articles: here, here, here, bottom of this page and here. Good to see someone taking an interest in Sri Lankan cricket on here! AssociateAffiliate (talk) 10:42, 29 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

None of those matches are major. Major is classified most simply as being first-class, List A or Twenty20 (or for early matches, as historically important, like Hambledon v White Conduit Club). None of the matches he played in were major, as evidenced by his lack of a page on CricketArchive (even I have a page on CricketArchive!). Cricketers who played for Nondescripts prior to first-class status in 1989 would only be notable if they had played at the time first-class or List A cricket for another team. Stanley Jayasinghe and Ranil Abeynaike come to mind. There's nothing in the articles to be proven wrong because the articles don't asert that any of the matches were notable. Speedy deletion nomination of Chandra Mendis

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Chandra Mendis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Proposed deletion of Haris Wijesinghe

The article Haris Wijesinghe has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Blanking of redirects

edit

Please do not blank redirects. If there is a problem with the redirect, please follow the instructions at WP:RFD to try to get them properly deleted. Blanking of content causes problems for the project, and is (almost) never the correct way to go about removing bad content. This is not an argument from me that the redirects should (or should not) remain. Rather it is simply that you are going about getting them removed in the wrong way. - TexasAndroid (talk) 22:09, 5 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

RCC

edit

Please. Stop adding the claim that Royal College Colombo is the only college that can "officially" use the word "Royal" in Sri Lanka until you have a reliable secondary source that verifies this claim. Period. This is a disputed point (obviously, by the simple fact that other colleges have the word and the government has never tried to stop them). So you need a rock solid source, and even then we'll have to phrase in terms of "Source X has argued that ..." But until you have that source, it cannot be in the article, per WP:V. Stop it.

edit

Only warning: stop trying to start a massive war with Cossde across multiple pages across Wikipedia. IF you have a message for him, leave it, in English, on his talk page. Do not use article talk pages, do not use Wikiprojects. I've reverted one of your such posts; please go now and revert the rest. Any further disruption of Wikipedia like this and I will block you. Qwyrxian (talk) 11:19, 8 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

It's even worse than I thought: you're copying my words onto other people's talk pages, making it look like I wrote there. That is absolutely unacceptable. Your messages don't even make any sense--why would you take my message that I wrote to Cossde and copy it to Swarm's talk page? Then it looks like I was accusing Swarm of something, which I most certainly was not. As such, I cannot wait for you to self-revert, and have to do it myself because I do not want other users thinking I tried to comment to them when I did not.
