Sorry man, the only middle name I can find for Wilshere is Andrew, which you seem to have already. Fairly sure the G doesn't stand for Gaylord though. Perhaps User:Bocanegra would be kind enough to provide a source :-P – PeeJay 17:22, 22 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello there, just stumbling upon your excellent list of the york city seasons and i noticed at the bottom one of the templates doesn't seem to line up with the other. If you have a minute
please could you look up Johnny Garvie's Lincoln City stats in the Hugman book. The club say 78 goals from 184 league games, but Neil Brown says 73 from 183... thanks, Struway2 (talk) 10:39, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks Matty, tisn't often Neil Brown gets stuff wrong, perhaps I ought to let him know... cheers, Struway2 (talk) 13:53, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
Back again, sorry, I really must buy a copy... Please could you look up Andy Graver's Lincoln City stats. He spent three spells at Lincoln, which according to Neil Brown add up to 276 games 144 goals (172/107, 15/4, 89/33). However, Lincoln have 274/143, and what with him being their all-time leading scorer, you'd think they should know... thanks, Struway2 (talk) 08:44, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks again. Mr Brown reckons it's probably down to Mr Hugman changing his figures each new volume he brings out :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:42, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Hull City A.F.C. : Status of Brown and Dowie
Hi Matty,
Would you mind taking a look and chiming in on who's who? I'm inclined to match what the official website states, but someone named Pippin has been changing the manager and managing consultant in accordance with an article in the Hull Daily Mail. I don't want to revert war so I thought I'd seek more input. Thanks, Northumbrian (talk) 20:53, 10 May 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Teresa Pearce
A tag has been placed on Teresa Pearce requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Lil-unique1 (talk) 01:27, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

When Team Changes League
Surely a team changes league once a league's entry list for the new season has been published (not when they play their first match). They are then considered part of the new league and not part of the old one. --Half Price (talk) 20:06, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi MTW, I was wondering if you could be so kind as to add a couple of pictures of Graham Westley to his page – if there are any pictures available for public use. I'm always a bit confused regarding copyright regulations when adding pictures to profiles, but if you could find one or two pictures to add to the profile that would be great. Request / Opinion
Hi there MATTY, VASCO from Portugal here, longtime no "see",
About João Pedro Pereira Silva, a request: please don't remove again the ZEROZEROFOOTBALL.COM link, i think it's most pertinent, because it's a Portuguese link to a Portuguese player. My list is as follows, for sites/players (Portugal - Zerozero.pt (being that Zerozerofootball.com is the English version of the site) and Foradejogo.net; Spain - Bdfutbol.com; Germany - Fussballdaten.de; France - Lequipe.fr; i suppose the most "savvy" in the case of English footballers is soccerbase.com).
Done with the request, here's the opinion: i think that there is no need (for now) for a section INT.CAREER for this player, which contains one sentence which says the same that box (played twice for U-20, now i added some more national team stuff per LINK#3). However, should you choose to reinstate it again, fine, i won't revert it back.
Second part done too! To finish the stuff about JPP SILVA, one more thing: how about the level of vandalism on a player that i bet few people knew about in England four months ago (and maybe Portugal too, i am one of those)? Simply pathetic, can't find an appropriate name for these lowlifes, even if they are 15, 16...Pathetic.
Nothing more, for the moment, keep up the good work, sorry for any incoveniences, and enjoy the World Cup!! - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 01:28, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- Wow, no reply, although User:Matthew hk, a chap who adds a lot of refs, i'll have to admit, but is also never friendly (has accused several folks of vandalism - me included - and then of course the truth surfaced, and he never apologized - to me included), did get an answer.
Fair enough, sorry to have disturbed you, only wanted to help - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 13:51, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry for my hastiness, MATT. Cheers - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 20:45, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

Joe Hart as new England goalkeeper during the World Cup 2010
Dear Matty,
While my observations on the current (Jun-14th) state of goalkeeping in the squad that England has taken to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup may me offensive to you personally. I do not believe that you have the 'right' (just because you are No 147 in edits in Wikipedia!) to completely disregard them.

Yep, I'm certain he's still at Vancouver. He played (and scored) yesterday against Austin - http://ussf.demosphere.com/stats/2010/1634203.html - and he's still on the official rosters at http://ussf.demosphere.com/Teams/20945465/20945490-20952154/TEAM.html and http://www.whitecapsfc.com/men/roster/default.aspx. His bio on the Vancouver site says he's available until June 16th (http://www.whitecapsfc.com/men/roster/players/marcus_haber.aspx), which means he will likely be playing in Vancouver's game against Puerto Rico on Wednesday, and *that* will be his final game. --JonBroxton (talk) 22:09, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Stephen Spargo
Hi there. If you have time, would you consider adding some information about Stephen Spargo's time at York City in the 1932–33 season. I'm currently in the process of writing and improving the articles of the Nelson players from their time in the Football League, so this would be much appreciated. No worries if you aren't interested. Cheers, BigDom 18:57, 3 July 2010 (UTC)
- Cheers for the extra info. In an ideal world, I would try and get some of the articles to GA or better, but the sources just don't exist. It's a shame really because I'm sure some of them wil have had interesting careers but short of writing an account of every single game they played in I don't know how to expand them any further. Christian Nzinga
Hi Matty. Playerhistory here
Has anyone verified the profile of Christian Nzinga? All senior club except last two are fake. He did play for Finnsnes but only appeared 3 times with no goals. I have all the match reports from that league. AC St. Louis is also correct, but not sure of the appearances. He was released by AC St Louis last tuesday. He has never played any games for Cercle Brugge, at same time as Cercle is mentioned here we found track of him in KSK Maldegem in Belgium. They play on level 4. He didn't appear any matches for them. He played for reserve team of Saabrucken, never played for Marbella. When he signed for Finnsnes the Norwegian FA got his international clearance from a small club in Italy USD Sorianese as amateur. The Norwegian FA has confirmed it for me by phone. Hope you have a look into it

Duane Courtney
Just seen that York have signed Duane Courtney. Ouch. There's a reason he only played a handful of games at Burnley, take that from someone who had the misfortune to see him play. Nevertheless, what I'm really here to say is that I'll do the GA review in the morning. After a cursory glance, it looks pretty much there so there shouldn't be too much work to do. - I'll add a little about his second Watford spell tomorrow, which should give the middle of his career a bit more balance. Also, a few of the hits here might help expand the Palace section. Hi Matty, Am I missing someething obvious? At least 2 editors (or one using 2 different IPs) have removed Sol Campbell from the 1st team list in Arsenal F.C., but the ref cited for this section still includes him. If you get permission, any chance the following photos (links below) can be added to their respective profiles: Bostwick – http://www.flickr.com/photos/34050178@N06/4802417366/in/set-72157624398125583/ and Wilson – http://www.flickr.com/photos/34050178@N06/4802132714/in/set-72157624398125583/. Cheers lad. SBFCEdit (talk) 03:32, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hey, how do you get photo's from Flickr onto Wikipedia? How do you get permission?--EchetusXe 18:27, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Begging again, sorry
Please could you see if Mr Hugman confirms that Johnny McNichol made no appearances for Newcastle United before he went to Brighton, and give me a page number. I've got him in for a DYK, the reviewer doesn't think much of Neil Brown as a source, and it's not easy to find a WP:RS-type reliable online source to verify a bloke not appearing for a given club... many thanks (again), Struway2 (talk) 11:07, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
Re: Sylvan Ebanks-Blake's middle name
Are you sure that Findmypast.com is entirely accurate? I know it's possible that Ebanks-Blake's middle name was spelled "Agustus" on his birth certificate, but it's more likely that it should be "Augustus" and that Findmypast.com has made a typo, don't you think? – PeeJay 16:51, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- A typo like the "Emily William Ivanhoe Heskey" one? BigDom 16:58, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- You're right, Matty, there is an RS that supports "Augustus". Both the 2008-09 and 2009-10 editions of the PFA Footballers' Who's Who give his name as "Sylvan Augustus Ebanks-Blake". But you're right, as long as the info is sourced, it's fine. – PeeJay 17:20, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
I have nominated List of York City F.C. Clubmen of the Year, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of York City F.C. Clubmen of the Year. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Thought you might be interested in Jack Brooks, an article I just created about a footballer who used to play for York. If there's anything you can add to the article, that would be appreciated. Cheers, BigDom 11:00, 15 August 2010 (UTC)

Hull City player list article under discussion at Hull City talk page
Hi Matty,
An editor recently added a Notable Players section to the Hull City article. It's good raw information but was poorly sourced and formatted. A discussion started on the article talk page about formatting and sourcing the data and moving it to its own article, like many other club player lists. Keith D noted that you have one of the books we might use as a reference. Anyway, I just wanted to make you aware of the discussion; please feel free to chime in if you like. Cheers, Northumbrian (talk) 14:21, 4 September 2010 (UTC)

The article Levi Mackin you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold. I haven't failed it because it's basically a good article, but there are some problems that need to be addressed. FC Barcelona
Being a regular contributor I thought you would like to know that FC Barcelona is currently at FAC with 1 support, but could do with more reviews. See Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/FC Barcelona/archive3. Cheers, Sandman888 (talk) 08:16, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
The article Ian Cameron has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Does not meet WP:BIO No meaningful claim to notability or importance, and no improvements in two years
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Korruski (talk) 09:39, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
The article Sunderland A.F.C. is schedule to appear as the main page featured article in the near future
Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of this article know that it will be appearing as the main page featured article on October 21, 2010. You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/October 21, 2010. If you think that it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured article director, Raul654 (talk · contribs). If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! Sunderland A.F.C. is an English association football club based in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear that competes in the Premier League. Since its formation in 1879, the club has won six First Division titles—in 1892, 1893, 1895, 1902, 1913, and 1936 and the FA Cup twice, in 1937 and 1973 (see Sunderland A.F.C. seasons). The club was founded by schoolteacher James Allan and was elected into The Football League in 1890 where the team performed well in the league, earning plaudits such as a "wonderfully fine team". The Sunderland team won their first FA Cup in 1937 with a 3–1 victory over Preston North End, and remained in the top league for 68 successive seasons, losing the record to Arsenal when they were relegated in 1958. Sunderland's most notable trophy win after the Second World War was their second FA Cup in 1973, when the club secured a 1–0 victory over Leeds United. The team has won the second tier title 5 times in that period and the third tier title once. Sunderland play their home games at the 49,000 capacity all-seater Stadium of light having moved from Roker Park in 1997. The original ground capacity was 42,000 which was increased to 49,000 following redevelopment in 2000. Sunderland have a long-standing rivalry with their neighbouring club Newcastle United, with whom they have contested the Tyne–Wear derby since 1898. (more...)
