Speedy deletion of "The Hard Travelers"
editA page you created, The Hard Travelers, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a band or other musical group, but it does not indicate how they are important or significant, and thus why they should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and the guidelines for musical groups in particular.
You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.
Thank you. Blanchardb -Me•MyEars•MyMouth- timed 18:18, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Surely the coming together of Dave Sharp, lead guitarist with The Alarm, who had several top 10 hits worldwide, and legendary guitarist Henry McCullough, who has been in international charts with Paul MacCartney's Wings, and Joe Cocker's Grease Band - including the seminal Woodstock appearance in 1979, gives this article significance. Also in the new lineup are two members of Joe Strummer's Mescaleros - Smiley also drummed for Robbie Williams, and Tymon Dogg has worked with a very extensive list of major names. The Hard Travelers are a supergroup in the making and this short article only represents their beginnings. MaxLondon (talk) 23:49, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

Dave Sharp web page
editHi,
Have tried to reinstate Dave's page, but the WikiPolice are all over it with their red tape.
Please have a word, as there is no point in Sharp fans adding to the page only for it to be destroyed again.

Speedy deletion nomination of Driver 1976
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Rainbow Dash 22:10, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
The article TaM Management has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Delete for issues of notability, verification and advertising. An entirely unreferenced article (sources provided are not about the company nor even mention it); Page appears to exist only as self-promotion
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — CactusWriter (talk) 16:12, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Hi again CactusWriter ... this page is not intended to be promotional or advertising anything ... merely a history of the company. In the light of the above I will endeavour to improve the article as soon as possible to address the issues raised. Cheers ... MaxLondon (talk) 19:24, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Possible Conflict of Interest
editHi, MaxLondon. A review of your contributions shows that you may be affiliated with TaM Management and its clients (Dave Sharp, Jimmy Pursey, etc.). That type of close connection creates a conflict of interest and is considered problematic on Wikipedia.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about following the reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Cheers. — CactusWriter (talk) 16:18, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Point taken CactusWriter ... I will edit with care. Cheers ... MaxLondon (talk) 19:15, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Birth name
editHi, MaxLondon. Although Dave Sharp's birth name is mentioned in reliable sources (for example, All Music Guide and registered with ASCAP), and birth names are usually included in encyclopedic articles, I don't feel it is so important as to be necessary right now. If Dave Sharp has reasons for not wanting it mentioned, than I have no problem with that. Although, in the future, he should address his concerns directly with an administrator or the Wikimedia Foundation. (See WP:BLPSELF). Issues of privacy in the biographies of living people can take precedence over inclusion of available information, especially for individuals of lesser notability. We understand that not everyone is a Robert Allen Zimmerman or a David Robert Jones.
Additionally, because you have stated a relationship with this person, I advise you to refrain from making major edits to the articles of clients. Instead, please discuss any changes on the talk page or request help from an administrator. This will allow you to avoid the inherent problem of conflict of interest. If you have further questions, plese feel free to ask. Cheers. — CactusWriter (talk) 18:43, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
Appreciated CactusWriter. Point also taken regarding major edits to client's articles - most edits I have made are minor however. Cheers MaxLondon (talk) 19:11, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
The article Howard Werth has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Disambiguation link notification
editHi. When you recently edited Howard Werth, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Genesis, Clapton and Trevor Williams (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:03, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:DaveSharp.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:DaveSharp.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 20:17, 6 June 2012 (UTC)
Sham 69 - legal use of name
editThe band name Sham 69 has been registered as a trade mark by Jimmy Pursey. As such the so-called 'Tim V' lineup purporting to be Sham 69 are infringing the trademark, and passing themselves off as Sham 69.
Jimmy Pursey wishes that all reference to this unlawful use of the name shall not appear in the Wiki page on Sham 69.
The reference for the trademark registration can be seen at http://www.ipo.gov.uk/types/tm/t-os/t-find/t-find-number?detailsrequested=C&trademark=2613069

The change of external link to the existing one is valid under the terms:
An official link is a link to a website or other Internet service that meets both of the following: The linked content is controlled by the subject (organization or individual person) of the Wikipedia article. The linked content primarily covers the area for which the subject of the article is notable.
Although the edited link is described as 'official Sham 69' this is, in fact, not the case. (See trademark ref above). I will shortly insert the trademark reference into the body of the article for clarity.
Speedy deletion nomination of Howard Werth
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Howard Werth requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 15:13, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
