Village pump discussion

The {{Expand Bengali}} template already does what you were proposing, see my answer at Wikipedia:Village_pump (idea lab)#Enriching English articles from the local. Fences&Windows 17:00, 17 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks very much. It is resolved. It is exactly what I proposed. Thanks for your assistance.Mayeenul Islam (talk) 18:44, 18 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. When you recently edited TRX2, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Greek (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Abed Khan

edit

Hi Mayeenul Islam, I've been hard at work copyediting Abed Khan over the past few days (mostly adding references, copyediting, improving the article's chronological flow and other cleanup). I noticed that you had posted on the talk page, so I figured I'd run a few questions by you.

Do you have any sources/references for Abed Khan's involvement in the Bangladesh Liberation War? I can't find anything on the Internet—anywhere—to back this up, but I don't speak Bengali, so I'm probably missing a whole treasure trove of information.

Looking forward to hearing back from you! Cheers. wia (talk) 20:53, 6 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for interest in Mr. Abed Khan. Actually I don't have much time to assist you just now to dig out some information about him. But I'm taking it in my knowledge, and if I get anything, can assist you to quote, I'll inshALLAH, let you know. Thanks for your interest in notifying me. Good luck. —Mayeenul Islam (TALK) 08:31, 11 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Followup on Abed Khan article

edit

Salaam, I last posted here over two years ago about the English Abed Khan article after I noticed that you had written on the talk page. I've finished sourcing nearly all the claims in the article, but I am missing a bit of information and I had a quick question for you. The section about Khan's broadcast of Jobab Dao in Kolkata is an important one. However, I cannot find any English-language sources for these facts at all! (I have scoured hundreds of Google search results for "abed khan", to no avail.) I was wondering whether the Bengali-language Abed Khan article had cited any sources for the claim that Khan broadcasted "Jobab Dao" in 1971.

If you don't have the time or aren't able to find anything, that's totally okay. I just thought I'd see if we could track down a source for those claims! Dhonnobad, wia (talk) 04:52, 31 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Wa'alaikumAsSalam oaRoHmatuLLAH.
Thanks for the check. With a little search I found only this blog cited this:
it means: In 1971 his youthful voice on Jobab Dao, a program broadcast from Akashvani Radio Station, made huge popularity among the Muktijoddha (the Freedom Fighters). And found no other authentic traces about the fact/fiction. And as blog is not a trusted source, so we can easily deny the claim for now, until any good source come into live. And in Bengali article I found the mention of 25th March but it's about the Ittefaq office, not about his Jobab Dao program. And the next mention is about he left Dhaka by 29th March. But found the mention about a program (no mention of Jobab Dao) and the program held in June 1971. The claim is cited by this Newspaper column. And for the sake of argument, the newspaper Kaler Kantho is under the supervision of Mr. Abed Khan. So any claim here in this newspaper should be rechecked by any third party (and the article published in the reign or Mr. Abed Khan - in Dec 16, 2010).
So, here's all from me now. Under these circumstances, for me, I think it's not enough cited by third party sources to let the claim stay there for now. Hope you can take your decision now. —Mayeenul Islam (TALK) 06:17, 31 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much! I have tried using Google Translate to understand the Bengali sources, but the translations are never great. Your help with these sources has been invaluable and is greatly appreciated. Now all of the major claims in the article have been sourced! wia (talk) 13:26, 31 January 2015 (UTC)Reply

Mahajanpara dePRODed

edit

Thanks for helping keep Wikipedia accurate and up to date. The URL for the GeoNames database changed a few years back, and not all articles were updated to use the new URL. Mahajanpara has now been updated. If you follow the link, choose Bangladesh, enter the village name, and click Search Database it will return a result.

The article also has been updated to use the latest GeoNames coordinates. Whether the coordinates changed in the database in the nine years since the WP article was created, or whether they were originally copied incorrectly, I don't know. The coordinates place Mahajanpara about 3 km NNE (in my edit summary I mistakenly wrote NNW) of what was marked on your GPS track as Jurbharong Para. --Worldbruce (talk) 02:14, 21 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Worldbruce, Thank you for the edit. Hope, Goole Maps will soon fix it up. —Mayeenul Islam (TALK) 15:12, 23 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Monirul Khan moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Monirul Khan, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
