editI moved your comments to a more appropriate place, as it's not really an "error". You can now find them at Talk:Main_Page#Video_on_Main_Page. Cheers. --Dweller (talk) 10:46, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
RfA canvassing ;-)
editHi!
Given your good-natured and humourous posts on Talk:Main Page, I thought you might be interested in participating in this request for adminship...? Even if not, you'd probably enjoy reading it! I !voted to oppose, but there's nothing to stop you supporting, remaining neutral, or even !voting several times ;-) You might even fancy asking - or even answering - questions to the "candidate"!

Last and first are the author's name, publisher should be in italics if it's a paper (use double apostrophes each side of the word). If you can't find author name or date etc just delete that part or simply leave the space empty.
Remember to add {{reflist}} if no reference list exists. Michael of Lucan (talk) 10:54, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Question
editAnd what does your so-called "life" consist of? Sca (talk) 17:27, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- My life used to belong to Mrs. Xanthippe McGillicuddy of Tallaght, County Dublin. Following protracted negotiations, including intervention by senior government members, full ownership has now transferred to me. It is a very enjoyable life, and I have developed it substantially, with assistance from friends and colleagues. Photographs are available for a token fee of €1,000 to cover costs. Michael of Lucan (talk) 11:40, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- Are you sure? I'm fairly certain I've seen you in New Zealand, where you were owned by a possum. The McGillicuddy part makes me think you're not being entirely serious... Cheers, TFOWRThis flag once was red 11:44, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
- As you suggest, until adopting my new life, I was formerly known as Lord L---n. As must be evident to all except the most evil-minded, I have been taking an extended, and much-needed holiday for some time. I will return in due course to deal with some surprising and defamatory stories which have arisen during my vacation. The state of the nanny is bad, sorry the nanny state is bad, and must not support such accusations. Michael of Lucan (talk) 12:34, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

- I can relate, having myself become sole possessor of my alleged life as a result of cross-cultural tensions on the part of an ex-Soviet bride 26 years my junior. Currently I am at work on my second (unpublished) novel and resurrection of a 42-year-old VW Bug (Käfer). Sca (talk) 23:45, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Irish republican legitimism
editI find it amusing you are yourself aware of the NPOV policy, yet choose to add your own unsourced analysis into articles, please refrain from doing so again. Also my talk page is no place for your extremist soapboxing, please do not use it for those purposes again. Thank you. O Fenian (talk) 21:10, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
I am surprised by the terms of your comment, which may indicate which of us is an extremist. I was very puzzled by your revert of my notes, which reverted the article to a very unsatisfactory form, which any trained historian must reject.
The article on Irish republican legitimism which you are protecting is absurdly one sided. It reflects a view held by a tiny group on the edges of Irish society - some of whom are still armed, and trying to kill people against the will of the majority as expressed in the ballot box. To maintain NPOV, the article must make that clear. It should have a section which clearly shows that it not a normal view of reality, and is not shared by the overwhelming majority of Irish people.
I note that most attempts to do so have been gutted, so they appear to be mere quibbles, and not reflecting reality.
It is unreasonable to demand cites for this other than the self-evident proof of elections, referenda, opinion polls, etcetera, over nearly a century. Refusing to allow anyone to cite actual votes by the real electorate is intellectually dishonest, since Irish republican legitimism is based on an alleged electoral mandate.
I took the view that the matter was demonstrated clearly by the voting facts cited in the second paragraph. If you feel that this does not speak for itself, then, as a resident expert on the subject, I rely on you to cure it immediately.
I will assume that you are honestly trying to ensure that cites are included, and not trying to block the alternative view. On that basis, I invite you to add a balanced section referring to articles such as Elections in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland Assembly elections, 2007. Note also the Belfast Agreement, and the votes in support of it in both parts of Ireland. These should be referred to in a clear section demonstrating that the principle is absurd and held by a tiny group - showing that (1) the people have voted many times since, and (2)they have also explicitly rejected RSF which supports this view.
I await your action on this to demonstrate that your reverts are fair and honest.. Michael of Lucan (talk) 00:33, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
