editThank you for uploading File:Lorenzo Sassoli de Bianchi.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. . Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:37, 12 August 2015 (UTC)- Please note that if you want to create a blank page to use as a space to create an article, you can do this in draft space; instead of creating Promo-Bologna, create Draft:Promo-Bologna, and when it contains enough information to qualify as an article, move it to Promo-Bologna. bd2412 T 13:40, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Michael,
- I've unblocked you (that was pretty abrupt and uncalled for). But please visit the ANI thread mentioned above and let people know what you're doing. We typically don't create blank pages first, and fill them in later. If you don't return before the thread is archived, then feel free to {{ping}} me when you do return to discuss further. --Floquenbeam (talk) 14:01, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll just delete them all for the time being.
Michaelbenis (talk) 14:02, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
- I think that's been taken care of. BD2412's advice is good; draft space is a good place to work on an article, and people will leave you alone while you're working. You don't have to get anyone's permission to move to article space when it's ready, just move it. Thanks for the content you contribute (if you just double your productivity, you'll make up for me, who doesn't produce any!). --Floquenbeam (talk) 14:09, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
Conflict of Interest policy and disclosure
editHi Michaelbenis. I work on conflict of interest issues here in Wikipedia. Your edits to date seem to be heavily centered on companies in the Italian advertising business called Utenti Pubblicità Associati Promo-Bologna and others. I'm giving you notice of our Conflict of Interest guideline and Terms of Use, and will have some questions for you below.
Hello, Michaelbenis. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Utenti Pubblicità Associati, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.
If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:
- Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
- Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
- Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.
Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.
For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.
Question
editWikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. As in academia, COI is managed here in two steps - disclosure and a form of peer review.
DIsclosure is the most important, and first, step. Would you please let me know if you have any relationship with Utenti Pubblicità Associati, [romo-Bologna, its management, or contracting agencies hired to write about them?
You can reply here - I am watching this page. Once you do, we can take it from there. Thanks in advance for talking! — Brianhe (talk) 14:55, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
Answer
editThanks Brian,
I shall reply as fully as possible. I have answered this in three stages (telephone interruption).
I am an advertising freelance branding consultant, copywriter and creative director.
I have no relationship with UPA or Promo Bologna and have never worked for either organisation (either directly or through agencies).
The new pages I had hoped to create were simply to provide more information on the organisations referred to in the article on Lorenzo Sassoli De Bianchi that I was updating mainly to inform that he was knighted for services to enterprise in 2015.
I created the English page at Sassoli's request in 2010 and it was translated and expanded upon quite well and impartially (including with some accurate additional research e.g. place of birth) in Italian by someone who as far as I am aware had no connection with the company. I thought it would be a good idea to update both pages.
I have provided occasional consultancy services to Valsoia (a of the company that Sassoli owns). I have also worked for UniCredit Bank through an agency but this was prior to Sassoli's involvement and I have not worked for them since. I have no involvement in any other companies owned by Sassoli or by which he is employed or on the board in a voluntary capacity etc.
The original entry in English and updates in English and Italian on Sassoli have been at his request and paid for, but written by me to impartial academic standards (I used to teach literature at the University of York). All the information on the Sassoli page (in English) has been provided by Lorenzo Sassoli himself but has wherever possible also been externally verified and referenced. In deference to your concerns I shall not create the new pages on UPA, Promo Bologna and the rest. In fact I have very little time left to do so today.
I have now finished editing this answer having completed the updates (18:45 GMT) and this is my complete disclosure. Please do not hesitate to get back in touch if you have any further questions, which I will be happy to answer in detail.
Best regards
Michael

Speedy deletion nomination of Valsoia
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Valsoia, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
