Jack Manners

edit

Hello. The English National Football Archive does indeed give 27 December 1877. According to death records (free via FreeBMD) his death was registered in the second quarter of 1946 at the age of 68, which is compatible with late 1877 but not with 1880. See these snippet reports from the Northern Daily Mail (British Newspaper Archive, search and snippet view of results free, or 3 articles free to view with a trial account, otherwise paid subscription, which I haven't got). Top one gives age at death as 68, bottom one (inquest) gives his trade as master window cleaner, with an implication that he was at work when he fell off the ladder. Anyway, definitely 1877. Hope this helps, cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:17, 8 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Struway2 Thank you very much for looking that up for me, I really appreciate it! Michaeldble (talk) 12:51, 8 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Luke Shaw FA Cup winner

edit

Hello. I added Luke Shaw as an FA Cup winner in his honours as recognised by Manchester United in his official player profile. You reverted this as an independent source was not provided. I don't believe an independent source is required as he would have received his medal from the club. The winning team of the FA cup receives 40 medals to distribute to players and staff, so it is ultimately the clubs decision who is recognised as an FA cup winner. As they acknowledge Luke Shaw as an FA cup winner in his official player profile, I believe this is valid as a primary source. Isfearr (talk) 23:57, 17 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

As far as I'm aware, the club's own website is usually not accepted as a reliable source for this type of thing. Might be worth a discussion on the talk page though to see what others think Michaeldble (talk) 22:50, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
