User talk:Mike Rosoft/archive7
Just a quick note: User:Lemansbjw has been sending me email, and I basically explained the exact same things to him about the Webdisc article and why it was deleted repeatedly. I've also given him a very detailed explanation about why I blocked him. As is pretty common in situations like this, he proceeded to call me a "tool" and cussing me out over my action. Charming, really.
I warned him in email that I will take it to the admin noticeboard if he continues to harass me off-wiki, and I may also send a message to his ISP. Just thought you should know. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 22:32, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
- ...aaaand he's still at it. Seems to believe that the vast majority of users out there would agree with him that his article was just fine and shouldn't have been deleted. *shrug* I will be recommending that his off-wiki harassment of me be taken into account when other admins go to review his block. — KieferSkunk (talk) — 23:26, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
Social software in Education
Hi noted your note that this page looks like a research paper. Actually its a guide that is part of a series called "what research has to say for practice" so its not surprising that it looks like a research paper to the observer, there are a lot of researchy type references there. I've removed the removal notice. The article is under construction and please hold off judgement for a few days and untill you have read it in detail Thank you Markvanharmelen (talk) 22:24, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Mike, cleanup will be in process Markvanharmelen (talk) 11:08, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
Mike, I am the author of the Social Software in Education (but inexperienced in the ways of Wikipedia). Mark uploaded the article with my agreement but having seen the discussion around it, it now seems to me that it would have been better for me as the author to upload it. Since, currently, only Mark and I have made minor edits, would it be better for Mark (or you) to remove the article, and me to upload it again? --FrancesBell (talk) 08:48, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply Mike. There are two reasons for Mark to take down the article: 1. Since he uploaded it , it looks as if he is the author (see discussion on Deletion page). 2. It has the wrong title - should be Social Software in Learning. 3. I will think about what to do - may upload article as it stands. I am sorry to mess you about - I am a newbie --FrancesBell (talk) 17:12, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
Mike, please could you explain what is a null edit.--FrancesBell (talk) 12:13, 1 November 2008 (UTC) OK Mike, I have checked out the page and see that you have done that edit.--FrancesBell (talk) 12:33, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
Hello. I see you added a speedy deletion template to Junio Hamano once. I'm AfD'ing this article. Your speedy deletion was promptly removed by the article's original author, which I don't think people are supposed to do...
Proposed deletion of Junio Hamano
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Junio Hamano, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. 71.61.220.126 (talk) 22:46, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Quick question about Just Plain Brittish. Did the IP block fall in the range 79.74.0.0/17 or similar? I have a sneaking suspicion that the user is (yet another) Tom Sayle sock based on some behavioural similarities. [ roux ] [x] 18:24, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Another Mother for Peace
Hello! In response to your incredibly speedy deletion of this far-from-complete article from my user page, I must say I disagree with your log note. This article is researched and is neither arguing for or against the organization; it explains how the group began, who was involved and what it did. This organization was especially active and visible during the VietNam war and its yellow&black logo a very prominent sign of those times. Many celebrities, including Paul Newman and Joanna Woodward were involved with the organization. It is part of American history. Wikipedia has many articles about not-for-profit advocacy organizations including Ducks Unlimited, Women Strike for Peace, and the anti-abortion group Operation Rescue, to name just a few. Hi,
You deleted the page below twice today:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amo,_amas,_amat
The first time you said that I was trying to promote a book (which I wasn't) and so I removed the reference to the book that you mentioned. Then you deleted it again, because you said wikipedia is not a dictionary or a source for grammar (which I agree) but the page refers to a Latin phrase, and there are many wiki pages that explain Latin phrases, such as:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_litem
In fact, the only reason why I created the page was because I couldn't find a description in Wikipedia for the Latin phrase in question. Can you please help me understand what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks, Mr. C.
(By the way is this the right way to "Talk" to someone. It seems strange, but I can't seem to find a way to send you an email personally). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Khidhir (talk • contribs) 20:48, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Your speedy deletion
This article certainly DOES NOT certify as a "speedy deletion." What. I am working on it. It was just created a few minutes ago. And now its subject to deletion? Does that mean that other articles, while being worked on by the original author, should also be deleted? I don't think so. Please view the history before making that judgement again. Prowikipedians (talk) 13:02, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

The list of meerkat manor meerkats page
Hi, I was just wanting to get an opinion from an admin about this. On the talk page, I suggested a less confusing way of ordering the meerkat bios so that dead meerkats are grouped together and alive meerkats are grouped together, but everyone said I was trying to avoid spoilers and trying to make it fancrufty. procedural advice on rerwrite of deleted page
Hi Mike
I would like to have a go at rewriting a page that has been deleted and has a "bot", it happened a couple of years ago here is the link to the deleted articles current page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Marcome
I have read the guidelines re spam, notability ect.., also I have searched the FAQ and other sources as to the process in this case and the only useful info I have found is that it is a good idea to write the article in a sub page in your user area first which of course I will do.
If I manage to produce an article that meets and satisfies all the relevant criteria for an Encyclopedia entry can you guide me to the information as to the correct process to follow in this case. I am writing to you as I believe you may have had some input previously in tagging the deleted article and hence possibly understand the background and related issues
Nigel447 (talk) 06:59, 5 January 2009 (UTC) Thanks Mike for the quick reply, just for clarity my previous contributions were under the user name Nigelsa, I lost my password and my old email address was closed so following the suggestions in the help section it said it was easiest to set up a new account.
My main article previously is Humanistic Sociology, I believe I can address all the issues regarding the criteria and Hroðul has setup a directory were I can construct it in my user area, I will invite a few admin to look at it when it is finished and if anyone says they would recommend it for deletion I will not post it so there need be no angst, just an encyclopedia, thanks for all your helpNigel447 (talk) 10:09, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
I am not Mikerosoft but I spotted your question. I assume from the original username that the article was written by the musician Marcomé, or her agent or producer, in which case there is another guideline worth reading:
It is much more difficult than it seems to write a neutral objective article about your own livelihood. There are some tips there on what to do after creating a draft on your user page. Here is a link you can use to create your draft, but bear in mind that "blatant advertising" can get deleted from user subpages too (as User:Marcome was) , so write with balance from the start. Here is a link to create your user sub-page: User:Nigel447/Marcomé.

Chipmunk
Why on earth did you delete the Chipmunk (artist) page? Search his name in youtube or on myspace, he is a notable artist with hundreds of thousands of fans, he's won plenty of music awards also. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.108.252.252 (talk) 21:49, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Yes he does have fans on Youtube, but if you look they are professionally made music videos, also shown on TV and he has tonnes of airplay on mainstream radio. That surely warrants a Wikipedia page (just as much as any musician), so please restore it. I'm not even a fan but, for someone with complete ignorance of the person, to delete the page is very unreasonable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.108.252.252 (talk) 21:27, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Flourish/Card Manipulation discussion.
Card Manipulation and Card Flourishes are the exact same thing. Card Flourishes use manipulations for "magic", and card manipulation or Extreme Card Manipulation (XCM - published in 2004 Genii Magazine) uses manipulation for manipulation (no magic.) Card Flourishes should be merged with Card Manipulation.
Thank you for your time. Drlmagicman (talk) 09:59, 16 February 2009 (UTC)Drlmagicman
Card Manipulation Revert discussion.
Card Manipulation is not magic, it's shuffling, card throwing, and many more things. The article is off base and inaccurate making it appear as if it is magic. 99% of card manipulation is for non-magical use. Even dealing is a form of card manipulation. I agree that a small section could be used for magic, but most of card manipulation is not and has nothing to do with magic.
Thank you for your time. Drlmagicman (talk) 17:55, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

Second Reply to Administrator Mike Rosoft RE: 2D-FT NMR Imaging
At this point no additional material is needed than the one presented in the current version. Please restore promptly the page on Wikipedia with its correct title : "2D-FT NMR Spectroscopy and Imaging"
so that I can implement the Latex2e to HTML conversions needed for the latter part of the article. Thank you. Bci2
>>Please note that three of your comments are incorrect:
1. about being from "PlanetMath" -- incorrect; 2. I am its author on PlanetPhysics, not PlanetMath
and: 3. It is not copied from Wikipedia, as there is no such entry as 2D-FT NMR Imaging on Wikipedia.
I must therefore, respectfully ask you that you withdraw your three comments that are factually incorrect.
This article , as stated at the bottom of my first draft:
"incorporates material from [[PlanetPhysics:{{{planetphysics.org/encyclopedia/2DFTImaging.html}}}|{{{2D-FT MR- Imaging and related Nobel awards}}}]] on PlanetPhysics.prg, which is licensed under the GFDL.
PlanetPhysics is *up* and running--and you can see now my article there, it is not down as you stated (although PM is indeed down!). I accept however, some of your other comments. However, it is *not* a copy of an Wikipedia article as you suggested.
The format is as follows:
This article incorporates material from PlanetPhysics
(Title on PlanetPhysics, which is licensed under the GFDL. where:
The id variable is the PlanetPhysics article's object id, found at the bottom of the PlanetPhysics page: planetphysics.org/encyclopedia/2DFTImaging.html

I am trying to recreate the page for David Choi. His page has been deleted several times for a few different reasons. ONe being that the page was blatant advertising. Another because the page didn't have enough sources to back of the information and the facts were thought to be false. Anoth time it was deleted because it was felt he was not a person of value to be placed on the wiki. I have reasearched him and put together alot of facts regarding him. As far as his worth, I think I have put enough things and sources to back them up to prove that. I wanted to message you because since you are one of the people who has deleted his page in the past I was hoping that you might find time to look over the page and see that it is accurate, and well written. This is also my first Wiki page and I read the rules, and formatting information over MANY times before creating the page. Please feel free to make me aware of any issues with the page, as I would like to adhear to all of the rules of the site, while being able share information about this artist. When I created the page I did not capatolize the last name. When I went to move it I noticed the long history of deletion and the fact that the David Choi page was blocked. I do not wish to step on any toes in this situation but I am new to WP and do not know the proper procedures for unblocking a page. If my newly created page is even worthy of being left up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am leaving this message for everyone on the deletion log of the page, not for redundancy but I do not wish to offend/upset anyone who feels this page should have been deleted in the past. One Dark Cloud
Just a quick question as to why "one dark cloud" was deleted as a topic. This is a London band with a web page (www.onedarkcloud.com) who've played a few gigs around the town. If there is there a minimum level of fame for a band, that's fair enough but it seems a little arbitary.
I should add that I didn't create the original entry (it was a friend of the band), but the page on notability doesn't appear to require general recognition of the band. If I'm wrong then I'd be grateful if you could explain the deletion a little clearer, if not then i'm interested in a little more detail as to what would be required to be a valid entry.
Thanks for your help.

The article in question is not based on the deleted "-cide" article (as I lack access to it) and (I would conjecture) is probably substantively different from it by being a proper glossary (there being precedent for such recovery in Glossary of graphies attempted deletion). Good Morning,
Though it has been some time since I have been on Wiki, I returned to find my section about "me" gone. Being an actor/vocalist from the US, I spent some time reviewing similiar pages and adding content about "MYSELF" and what I was working on. Bio, etc.
I'm not sure if someone added some untrue things to the page, but I have no understanding of how my page about me is "Attack Page"
Please help me solve this and get my area relisted.

Deletion of The Syndic
The deletion of "The Syndic" seems to be based on a misunderstanding. The deletion message says that the reason for the deletion is that it is "patent nonsense" that in the future the rulers of the U.S. will be divided up into a Syndic, the mob, etc. Well, "The Syndic" is a NOVEL by C. M. Kornbluth, and these things are elements of its plot. It appears that a description of a science fiction novel has been deleted because it was thought that this was a description of possible real world events which were being predicted as a definite future possibility. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.127.200.152 (talk) 23:20, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
