Image tagging for Image:Gardhab.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Gardhab.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Notability of Seema Mustafa

edit

A tag has been placed on Seema Mustafa, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Pekaje 10:23, 21 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, you had earlier used {{CopyrightedFreeUseProvidedThat}} for Image:Seemamustafa.JPG. The image is not Copyrighted free use -- free use means you can use the image for commercial purposes, and have derivatives. So, I removed CopyrightedFreeUse template. The image might classify as fair use, though. utcursch | talk 12:11, 23 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, you're quite right. I didnt even see the interview was with Javed; I just thought "blast, someone's added Varsha's accusations" and deleted it per WP:BLP. Thanks for catching that. Hornplease 09:49, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Incidentally, if you want to start an article on the Pak-India Ppls Forum I would be willing to help out... an assumption made on the basis of your recent edits to D'Souza's bio. Hornplease 09:53, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
The Career break part in the VB article may have been authentic, but WP:BLP, the wikipedia policy governing bio articles, does not permit linking to or sourcing from blog posts or newsgroups.
About AID, WP:RS requires that we find a reliable source saying "AID has worked against IDRF"; the reason being that if no reliable source - a mjor paper, or peer-reviewed work of scholarship, or book, has written about it, then it isnt notable enough to be in the article. IN particular, merely looking at stopfundinghate.com and inferring details from there might be original research. In any case, placing it under 'criticism' might be questioned.Hornplease 04:31, 27 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Apologies for the late reply. I was overwhelmed with work for much of the past week and didn't have a chance to check Wikipedia until the weekend. Thanks for posting the links to the wiki talk page and to my own. I'll try to take a look at all of them in my free time. --Yuje 02:10, 30 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry about that. I didn't notice that you added in stuff about casualties. I took a glance through the diffs, and there were several pages of deleted material, so I probably didn't notice your additions in the mess of things. Please add it back again. I appreciate your efforts in helping us find more sources on various aspects of the article. Please don't take my accidental deletion as my objection to it or a deliberate revert. --Yuje 06:48, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please read WP:BLP and WP:NOR. On WP you must restrict yourself to strictly what you can find on reliable sources, not the 'obvious inferences' one could draw. Please note that I have retained your HT link, and indicated that that link groups her in with several individuals as 'pro-left'. Hello Mikeslackenerny, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:PiledHigherDepper-Slackenerney.PNG) was found at the following location: User:Mikeslackenerny. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not readd the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 04:55, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Gardhab.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Gardhab.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 12:15, 3 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Seemamustafa.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Seemamustafa.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 17:26, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Rajdeep Sardesai 2008.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 04:25, 24 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Joseph Stein (Architect), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Seemamustafa.JPG

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Seemamustafa.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Katherine Liddy.jpg

The file File:Katherine Liddy.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

File permission problem with File:Joseph Allen Stein 1986.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Joseph Allen Stein 1986.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 02:54, 25 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
