User talk:Mitaphane/Archive 5
Hey!
editHow's it going? I noticed that you put your username on many EGM issues, but did not fill in the information for said issues. I just want to let you know I put my name as a first reference since I put up the actual content of the magazines (on a few). Is that ok with you? Thanks!
SamuraiFez (talk) 10:49, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, works for me. I'm a little too busy to fill in the content for each mag so I just listed what issues I had.——Mitaphane Contribs | Talk 01:20, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
Next Gen request - Heavy Gear 2
editCould I have access to the 2 issues of Next Gen that cover Heavy Gear 2? Issue 46 includes a preview, 1999 - Issue 2 includes a review. I'm more interested in the review, but would appreciate both and anything else that you have of relevance. Thanks. -hahnchen 23:59, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
Next Generation request
editHi, I was wondering if I could get the info on Q*bert in the May 2001 issue of Next Generation Magazine? (Guyinblack25 talk 16:46, 1 April 2009 (UTC))
- It was a review of 2000 port on the Dreamcast, referenced in the Ports section of the Q*Bert article. I hope you weren't looking for any info about the original.——Mitaphane Contribs | Talk 03:04, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- I figured it might have been. It'll be perfect for the legacy section. Thank you very much. (Guyinblack25talk 03:44, 2 April 2009 (UTC))
Fair use rationale for File:Pilotwings Helicopter.JPG
editThanks for uploading or contributing to File:Pilotwings Helicopter.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NanohaA'sYuriTalk, My master 23:41, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Assistance
editI nominated a video game for FA status, and someone there mentioned you were the person to speak to about VG magazine scans and information. So in that vein, do you have any from 1998-99 that mention "Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver"? The Clawed One (talk) 20:20, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

From one magazine collector to another...
editHello Mitaphane! I recently discovered WP:VG/M, so I added my stock of Nintendo Powers and Game Informers to the lists. Anyway, I noticed a few of the issue numbers didn't line up with the correct months in the GI list. I fixed the list, but I felt it best to remove your name from Issue #175 because I couldn't be sure you actually own that issue due to the list's inaccuracy. Just letting you know in case you want to re-add it. Cheers. -sesuPRIME talk • contribs 11:50, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- That works for me. ——Mitaphane Contribs | Talk 00:41, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Planescape:Torment Review
editNextGen Magazine request
editHi Mitaphane, I'm not an official member of WP:VG so I hope this isn't improper of me, but I was wondering if I could get a copy of the Satellaview information from Next Generation Magazine Issue #26 (Feb 1997). It looks like the specific article is called "Nintendo's Download Dream." I've been trying to improve the article on the Satellaview, and I think this NextGen source could serve as a valuable English-language source/citation. If it's not too much trouble, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks so much,-Thibbs (talk) 18:19, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
- Here it is, but you'll probably be disappointed as it only mentions the creation of the service. I'm guessing English language sources are going to be scant since it was only ever released in Japan. —Mitaphane Contribs | Talk 01:56, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
- Perfect. Thank you! -Thibbs (talk) 06:58, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Empire II: The Art of War
editHi there, I saw you as the contact available for WikiProject Video games' Reference Library for Next Generation Magazine Issue 14 (Feb 96). The library lists this issue as having a review for Empire 2, which I was researching (though still considering whether to make a full article or keep it as a subsection of the Empire series). Would you be able to scan a copy of the review for me, or help me out on this game? Please email me at xensyria at gmail.com with any scans etc. that you can provide! Thanks! --xensyriaT 15:44, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
- Here's the review. I've sent you an email as well.—Mitaphane Contribs | Talk 01:56, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks very much sir, I appreciate it! --xensyriaT 15:31, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Thief: The Dark Project
editHey, Mitaphane. I noticed that NextGen reviewed Thief: The Dark Project in their April 1999 issue (issue 52). I'm currently collaborating with several other users to bring this article up to snuff, and this review would be a valuable source, particularly due to the article's current lack of magazine reviews. If you have time to scan it, that would be great. Thanks.JimmyBlackwing (talk) 00:43, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
- Also, I just noticed that the March 1997 issue has a preview of the game, under the working title "The Dark Project". If you have time to scan that and the review, it'd be even better. Thanks. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 19:41, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- Here's the review (1) and the preview (12). Along with the preview was aninterview with Warren Spector that might be useful as well. —Mitaphane Contribs | Talk01:56, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
- These look great. Thanks! JimmyBlackwing (talk) 03:49, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Technoclash in june 2003 EGM
editGamerankings tells me there's a review of Technoclash in a 6/22/03 edition of EGM. Since there's a ten-year gap it's probably a retro-review of some kind. Could I please get a copy thereof? Nifboy (talk) 05:47, 29 August 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I'll post it on here sometime early next week. ——MitaphaneContribs | Talk 00:36, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm, I looked through the issue and didn't find any retro review. It looks like it was reviewed inissue 51 on 10/93 (which unfortunately I don't have) according to this page. I went forward to the 10/03 issue to see their "Ten years ago in EGM" page and Technoclash was no where to be mentioned. Sorry. ——Mitaphane Contribs | Talk 01:04, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks a lot. I knew the 2003 date was suspicious so it's good to at least have the right issue cited.Nifboy (talk) 01:42, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Electronic Gaming Monthly, October 2006
editApparently you own the October 2006 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly. I need the review to add to Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. I don't know if it's legal to transcribe an entire review in a talk page conversation or email, so if you can find the issue, just give me some memorable quotes (particularly in the areas of the characters and cutscenes' "adorable"ness and "cute"ness, difficulty, or the Game Boy Advance or DS versions). I also need the review score, the name of the author, and the issue number. Thanks, by the way. Tezkag72 (talk) 22:25, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
- What I normally do is just send the scan of the entire article in a link (see conversations above). No worries about copyright violation, I'm sure the scan would almost certainly fall under Fair use since the scan exists solely as educational reference material. Plus, the scans sit on my FTP server not the Wikipedia's so if EGM has a problem with it the burden falls on me to just take it off my server. The only problem right now is I'm in the process of moving; both my scanner and server are offline for about a week. When they come back online I will respond back with the scan for the review. ——MitaphaneContribs | Talk 19:43, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- Here's the review you asked for.——Mitaphane Contribs | Talk 03:35, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
Request for a Next Generation article
editHi Mitaphane, can I have a look at the review on Sacrifice in the February 2001 issue of Next Generation? Jappalang (talk) 01:39, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- Once my scanner/server come back online after I move, I will post a scan of the review here. ——MitaphaneContribs | Talk 05:20, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- No problem, I can wait. Jappalang (talk) 22:04, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Next Generation Magazine Issue 6, 2001
editHi there, I was wondering if you could somehow get me the Star Wars: Battle for Naboo review from this issue. I have the article up at FAC, and they are requesting more print reviews that I don't have access to, so I hope you can help. Thanks!
