Thanks for uploading Image:Aerican Flag.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. Proposed deletion of Francoism (Gaming)

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Francoism (Gaming), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.  Ravenswing  15:00, 16 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:Ulster-Banner.GIF

edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Ulster-Banner.GIF requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is a redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Ulster-Banner.GIF|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Fair use rationale for File:Sky tigers.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Sky tigers.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. "Republic of Canada" flag

edit

Please address the concerns expressed on the articles talk page before reverting the current version of the article. It seems quite clear on the website being cited as a source for this flag, that it is not the correct one. A far more likely candidate appears further down the page, although I'm somewhat dubious about the overall usefulness of that page as a reliable source according to Wikipedia's policy. More substantiation from another source would be helpful, this one appears to be lacking peer reviewed authority in my opinion. Please don't just ignore legitimate concerns, before making these kinds of edits, engaging with other editors first on an article's talk page is always appreciated. cheers Deconstructhis (talk) 04:24, 21 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:NonFreeImageRemoved2.svg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

File permission problem with File:Aericaflag.jpg

edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Aericaflag.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 19:57, 18 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Just so you know, the standard practice of Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada is actually to propose a page move for discussion first, rather than moving it arbitrarily, so that we have documented proof on the talk page that people have done the research to ensure that the name actually is unique. Wikipedia is a work in progress to which people are adding new articles all the time, so the fact that the plain title is still a redlink isn't by itself sufficient proof that the title can be undisambiguated — so we need to have a documented record of the research. Just letting you know for future reference. Bearcat (talk) 17:30, 5 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's not a major problem, and I haven't even moved the page back — it's a pretty straightforward move in this particular case. I just wanted to let you know that we do prefer proposal and discussion first. The other thing is that sometimes people who aren't familiar with (or dislike) our naming convention have come along at a later date and moved pages back again, so it's just good practice for us to have a discussion that we can point to as proof of consensus if that happens. Tamil Eelam Vs. LTTE Terrotory

edit

Please discuss before reverting chnages made after discussions. Area held under LTTE is not the Tamil Eelam in Sri Lankan Tamil people's minds but LTTE tried their terrotory 'Tamil Eelam'. It is not the opposite as you are suggesting. Most of the Sri Lankan Tamils are in favour of Tamil Eelam but only a handful were with LTTE. On the other hand the idea of 'Tamil Eelam' predates LTTE as suggested by sources given in the article. LTTE simply killed other Tamil leadership. Unless it can be proved that LTTE and its leader Prabakaran, a terrorist according to many recognized states, are the 'Authority of Tamil Eelam' your claim has no basis.

Page renames

edit

Hi Mnmazur. You recently moved two pages on the March 8 Alliance and the March 14 Alliance. I've moved them back to their original titles. Could you open a discussion on the talk pages explaining why the renaming should occur? Thanks! ← George talk 20:28, 27 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

WP:DATE says that "articles on topics with strong ties to a particular English-speaking country should generally use the more common date format for that nation." Lebanon does not have particularly close ties to a particular English-speaking country that uses the little endian date format, so the guideline doesn't really apply. The real problem with making this change is that the name "14 March" is far less common than "March 14". For example, Google returns 31 news articles for "14 March Alliance", versus 1,630 news articles for "March 14 Alliance". ← George talk 20:48, 27 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
edit

Well, I've never seen a logo being used separately in the infobox when an image is already there. I have seen a logo being used alone, but that's also pretty discouraged. It's difficult for an anime series, since usually the manga, novel or video game cover is used in the infobox for a manga, novel, or video game. For an anime, character artwork is sometimes used, while other times a DVD/BD cover is used, though it varies. For Angel Beats!, that promo image was uploaded back before the BD/DVDs were released, so those images couldn't be used at the time, and that image was more or less meant to be temporary until a better image could be found anyway. If you want the logo to appear in the infobox, we could use the image on List of Angel Beats! episodes, or possibly one of the other BD/DVD covers.-- 23:58, 5 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Using the logo in the media or anime sections would be seen as decorative, and thus not supported per WP:NFCC, specially point 8. There wouldn't be any contextual significance in those sections, or anywhere but the infobox, to warrant the addition of the logo. It's not all that uncommon to use the same image for the main article and the episode list for anime articles.-- 00:12, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Basically, just using a logo in the infobox for the main article is discouraged. At one time, it was common, but it's very uncommon nowadays for that to happen. Instead, a manga/novel/video game/DVD cover is used, which oftentimes (though not always) uses the logo/title of the series. The only place the logo should appear is in the infobox of the main article, but it can't just be the logo. That's why the only other alternative is to use a DVD/BD cover for the infobox, which already has the logo in the image.-- 00:41, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

On "Occupy Toronto"

edit
  Greetings,
I agree that you should not delete the "Occupy Toronto" entry from Wikipedia. My name is Andrei Neacsu and I am one of the many, many people living in St. James Park, as part of the Occupy Toronto movement. We are indeed living down-town Toronto in solidarity with all the other "Occupy" movements taking place all over the world but in my opinion we do all (all the "Occupy" groups, that is) have our own personality/character.
"Occupy Toronto" has been very peaceful. For the most part, the community supports us - I live in my tent in the park so, I see all the food donated, tents, blankets, money, etc. Our relationship with the Police Department has been simply great too; City Hall just voted to allow us to stay and so we are getting ready for winter - it does get a little chilly up-here.
The main media outlets are more or less ignoring us because there has been no violence, vandalism or anything spectacular but there are now over 250 tents set-up and there is hardly any more room available. "Occupy Toronto" is honestly doing great and for now, we foresee a smooth continuation of our protest regarding issues such as economic disparity, aboriginal and environmental matters, corruption, etc.
A main difference between us ("Occupy Toronto") movement and other movements happening all over the world, is that half of our encampment is in St. James Park but the other half has been settled within the grounds of St. James Anglican Cathedral. We have a letter from the Dean, allowing us to remain on their private property thus, even if anyone tries to kick-us out of the park, we will just shift-over to the church grounds ...
We won that battle before it even started - the thanks goes to our logistics team, which planned the location of the occupation.

This remains an on-going event. For that reason at least, I encourage the choice of leaving "Occupy Toronto" as a separate entry, on Wikipedia.
Thank you for "listening".
   All the best,
      I (Andrei Neacsu - dope_31@hotmail.com) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.65.32.26 (talk) 20:21, 27 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
