Speedy deletion nomination of Sanam Arora

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sanam Arora requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of Sanam Arora

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sanam Arora requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.pbd-india.com/speaker-profile.asp?sp_id=139. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 07:20, 17 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

You seem to be under a misapprehension - it looks to me as though Beeblebrox didn't say that he thought the subject of the article was notable (it looks like he just restored it so you could fix the copyright issues) but even if he did say that then it doesn't count for very much. The mechanism we use for addressing disputes about notability is deletion discussions, such as this one, and Beeblebrox didn't say anything there. Granted, the nominator there has a very short contribution history, but their claim that you are the General Secretary of an organisation the subject of the article is President of appears to be accurate. If you would like to dispute the close of the deletion discussion further you can go to deletion review. Hut 8.5 07:44, 17 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'm unblocking you

edit

After having something brought to my attention and after looking through the revision history of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/National Indian Students Union UK, I now see exactly why you were removing content from that page repeatedly. I have redacted the information you were trying to remove from the page history and contacted the appropriate team on your behalf to have it suppressed. Even though you did not use the other account to remove the information, I feel that part of the reason that you used another account was to try and keep the information removed. If I were in your shoes and weren't familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, I'd probably do the same thing you did. I don't feel that I could, in good judgment and in my position, hold that against you. Because of this, I'm going to unblock this account (however, your other account will remain blocked). This will allow you to continue editing under one account, which is all you need (unless you have a legitimate reason otherwise - see Wikipedia's sock puppetry policies).

Please know that using multiple accounts to evade blocks, appear as more than one person to "vote" in a discussion page, or cause other disruption -- is not allowed and will usually result in being blocked. If you see information like this posted next time, the best thing to do is email an administrator (such as myself) about it so that they can take care of the issue quickly. You can also email the oversight team for assistance as well. I'm sorry that this happened. Rest assured, this information has been removed from the page history and will not be able to be viewed by the public.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. You're always welcome to message me on my talk page, or email me. Best regards -- ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 09:17, 17 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
