James D. Ewing
editI saw your note at the Teahouse, and looked in on your article. I hope you don't mind, but I added some paragraph breaks. Also added some items under awards, which you can change, of course. Looks very nice, indeed, very good work! Best of luck to you, Sincerely, Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 01:18, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
Added a section on Philanthropic works, re: "The James D. Ewing Lecture on Ethics in Journalism, at Duke University, endowed by Ewing", with a new source! Tribe of Tiger Let's Purrfect! 01:34, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
Thanks 😊 I had those on my list! Great idea for the new section, I have been trying to decide how to write/describe the. There are so many. I've actually been inspired by his contribution to society and find it difficult to leave out some of my personal thoughts about him :) I appreciate your input. A kitten for you!

I'm so laughing out loud right now 😏
Mollifiednow (talk) 02:51, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
FYI... I submitted my first draft and its been a interesting journey from my first "experience" ; ) I guess you could say that I went from being knocked out of the baby carriage, in just my diaper and into the sandbox. So I suppose you could say I'm now in my big kid "pull-ups. Where will I go from here? It Depends😏 Mollifiednow (talk) 18:26, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
Could I borrow your eyes?
editHello Mollifiednow. It seems we've had a few similar experiences. We are both on here with good faith and are enjoying the editing, but have been surprised by some of the feedback.
I'm wondering if you might look at a draft I'm doing and give me your suggestions on my talk page? I know I've done a few things incorrectly and would just like advice without a gigantic sign on the draft page. :^D Katherine311MH (talk) 01:08, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
I'm humbled that you asked me to help :) I just logged in for a moment to tag an article for deletion. I'm a newbie as well, so as long as it doesn't take me FOR-EV-ER ;) to figure out how to do it, I will take a look afterwards. Otherwise, I will definitely take a peek tomorrow. Hopefully, I can help, but I am a newly minted Wikapedian. You made my evening 😁 Mollifiednow (talk) 02:52, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
- Awesome, thanks for agreeing to look! So, this subject has a long list of credits as a producer and is famous in the experimental and commercial animation world. Otherwise, he's published/curated a big film collection, and edited a book. I wasn't 100% sure how to cite the published section and am not sure if I should continue adding credits. What are your thoughts? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Ron_Diamond — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katherine311MH (talk • contribs) 11:50, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
I just took a look and I think you've done a great job. My suggestion is to draw on your experience with your previous submissions and/or post your question at the Teahouse. I posted there and it was a great experience :) I appreciate you reaching out to me for advice, but you have more experience at this than I do. I have only submitted one draft for review, just recently, and I don't want to steer you in the wrong direction. Best of luck! Mollifiednow (talk) 12:53, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
- Ok, that is promising! I appreciate you taking a look. Have a great day! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katherine311MH (talk • contribs) 13:26, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
Hi! Just an fyi, I just learned about this, and thought I'd pass it on. It's a way to get that second pair of eyes. You can request a peer review. I'm adding a link, not sure if it will work, if not, search for peer review :) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:PR Best- Mollifiednow (talk) 15:29, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
Because its prose hasn't undergone a fivefold expansion in the last seven days, it doesn't qualify for the Did you know (DYK) process. When submitting for Mears, please use this corrected link instead. Thanks! Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 03:46, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
Thanks, Very Much! You have been so helpful. Best Regards - Mollifiednow (talk) 03:52, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
No problem! For Carollo's article, you can request a peer review instead. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 03:59, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
cool beans! Will do :-) Mollifiednow (talk) 13:52, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
fyi: after I stumble my way through the Walter Mears DYK process, I'll try the peer review on Carollo (I may be a little slow on the learning curve, but I'm determined (or stubborn) :-) Mollifiednow (talk) 02:07, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
I owe you an apology for my unclear answer to your original question on Talk:Walter Mears. I suggested "Did you know" (DYK) over peer review because in my personal experience, peer reviewers do not get to every request, whereas much fewer DYK nominations lapse. Having Mears' article appear on the front page will also give it more visibility. That is the answer to your original question: the vast, vast, vast supermajority of articles do not go through any kind of review process. The ultimate review is more eyes on the article: the more well-trafficked, the more likely someone with the skills to improve the article will come along. The less traffic, the more likely the article languishes. I've caught errors that've gone unnoticed for more than a decade simply because no one ever looks up the article subject on Wikipedia. So this DYK serves the purpose you want in two ways: first, it is a review because we have to make sure whatever makes it onto the front page passes muster, especially if the article subject, like Mears, is a living person. Second, it will (hopefully) attract the attention of people who see it on the front page, some of whom will offer improvements. It just isn't as straightforward as my initial answer had suggested; I'm sorry about the lack of clarity in that response. Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 03:06, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
Thanks so much for your explanation. I'm new and want to do my best, especially with a BLP. I understand now and see why you recommended the DYK nomination. I welcome any input and critique. It's the only way to have to know if I'm doing a good job. I'm a little "skittish" right now, I don't want to do the wrong thing and I don't want to bother others too much. You and User: Mandarax have been so patient, I can't thank you enough. Hopefully, one day, I can PassItOn Mollifiednow (talk) 03:23, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for fixing my nomination. You have been so helpful! :-) Mollifiednow (talk) 21:06, 6 September 2020 (UTC)
DYK nomination of Walter Mears
editHello! Your submission of Walter Mears at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) at your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Yoninah (talk) 21:33, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! I have added content to the article and added an additional citation. I see that an alternate was added and I like it. I attempted to add an alternate and I have no idea why it isn't shown(?) Please excuse my inexperience. Thanks again :) Mollifiednow (talk) 00:30, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
DYK for Walter Mears
editOn 22 September 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Walter Mears, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Walter Mears has compared Donald Trump to populist senator Huey Long? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Walter Mears. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Walter Mears), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Help- Question on using information from one BLP in another BLP
editThis help request has been answered. If you need more help, you can , contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse. |
I expanded the article for Margie Mason (Journalist), and part of the work I did includes a list of a series of articles that won multiple awards, and a list of the awards.
I'm currently updating and expanding the article for Esther Htusan and I'd like to copy the same lists into the article for Htusan. Htusan was part of the staff who wrote the award-winning articles and shared in the awards.
Question: Is that acceptable on Wikipedia? Since I did the research and created the lists, it's not "plagiarism." Right?
Thanks in advance for your help. Mollifiednow (talk) 00:37, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
