- A copypatrol school isn't a bad idea, given that there have been more eyes on the area recently.... maybe when there's a few more editors in the area, though, since there's still only a small group of people in the copyright area compared to npp. Me, you, Berrely, ProcrastinatingReader, L3X1, Diannaa, MER-C, Sphilbrick, Justlettersandnumbers, Wizardman, Hut 8.5, Crow, DannyS712, Sam Sailor, and MrLinkinPark333 are the main editors of the area; it's a fair amount but the 15 of us are a bit dwarfed by the 100 or so NPP people. As for the edit, it wasn't the best executed quote with a small amount of prose outside of the actual quote; I added some parentheses to make it more obvious. I think we should try and make copyright less restrictive, since it can cause so many headaches, but that's just my opinion; feel free to come up with your own. - I would agree with you as it would save me a lot of head smashes. (And it my opinion Infomation should be free, but that is just me) As for the School, I feel with the number of editors in Copyvio removal a mentorship program would be good for right now. (Like Offical mentorship, not like me and you that I just ask questions, and it is not offical "Mentorship") When we gain more hands, we could open a school of copyparol. Bahrain National Space Science Agency
Dear Moneytrees. I have created a draft for Bahrain National space agency, I have copied content from nssa.gov.bh and have added references for all the content. Why has it been removed? Many thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ralamad (talk • contribs)
- (talk page stalker) You are allowed to cite sources, but copying from a non-public domain source, as the Bahrain National Space Agency's website is bu saying "All rights reserved" you are breaking the copyright violations guidelines on Wikipedia (read WP:COPVIO) as you are not allowed to copy directly from a source as it breaks copyright regulations. Dholera Airport total edit reversal.
Recently You undid me edit on Dholera Airport page. IF you look yourself, the edit was proper with refrences. At least you should Put This on my talk page rather than permanently reversing the edits. How am I supposed to edit the article all over again. If there is phrasing issue, let me correct it. But I can't access my old edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rajeevsingh007 (talk • contribs) 18:24, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- (talk page watcher) Rajeevsingh007, it wasn't the sources that were the problem, but because you made a copyvio from [1], as Moneytrees said in their edit summary. Copyrighted content is not allowed on Wikipedia, please read WP:COPYVIO. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this:

Draft:Fadda Dickson
The copyvio on Draft:Fadda Dickson was mostly resolved by the time I handled your G12 nom. The score had been whittled down to 10ish percent in a piecemeal manner. I felt it was best served by removing the G12 and, since it lacked a clear divide between copyvio and clear copies, revdeleting the entire history. Please let me know if there's any of that you have a problem with. Cabayi (talk) 09:30, 14 July 2020 (UTC)

Child marriage articles at a CCI
Hello. I was looking through the child marriage articles that were already checked at Wikipedia:Contributor_copyright_investigations/BrugesFR. To my surprise, some still had infringing copyvio text. The worst one was Child marriage in Mali that I requested a RD1 for, (it was from an archived copy of the Girls not bride website that predated the Wikipedia article). I also stumbled across copyvios by another user at Child marriage in Nigeria that was there since the article creation. So, I think the child marriage articles in the CCI should be rechecked just in case. I've done Mali, Togo, Mauritania and working on Nigeria. I haven't looked through the ones that have no check or X next to them. Let me know what you think. Thanks! --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 23:50, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- MrLinkinPark333, That's weird, I should have noticed that. My guess is that Internet Archive may have been down that day? I've rev'd it and the other, and will check the other articles. That CCI is pretty deceptive; some listings are easy, others are a real pain. Moneytrees🌴Talk🌲Help out at CCI! 01:22, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

Second opinion
Hi Moneytrees, I've got another copyvio question. Take a look at Complex of Sultan Bayezid II Health Museum. Earwig is telling me that it's an exact match for content here and here. I was going to G12 it, but it's written by a fairly well-established account, and one whose talkpage isn't plastered with COPYVIO warnings, so I wondered if it might be a case of these pages copying our content. Internet Archive doesn't have anything on either of those sites - is there another way to check? GirthSummit (blether) 11:24, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
- Girth Summit, Thanks for coming to me; those were copied from us. Our article is an attributed copy of Complex of Sultan Bayezid II (see the page history); as for the sites, the first site lists facebook as it's source, and the facebook page lists us as their source. The second site seems like one of the many cheap travel mirror sites; when it comes to global destinations, several sites copy us with no attribution. - Moneytrees, hey - you're good at this! Thanks :) GirthSummit (blether) 14:29, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

Second opinion 2
Hey there. Was attempting to clean up some of the old copyright problems and came across Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2020 January 18, where I can't tell if there's a copyvio or if it's a backwards copy. Normally gossip sites just pull information so I was ready to tag it as a backwards copy until I saw the writer. Given that it's part of Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/Dr. Blofeld 16, I'm wonder if it should be stubbified (as the copypaste was very blatant) or if it was in fact a backwards pull and can be tagged as such. Thoughts? (p.s. also saw your note on Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2020 June 16, and I actually uncovered that edit from a follow-up check on Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations/20101122, so yeah, definitely should be indeffed if there's another copyvio). Wizardman 21:26, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
- Wizardman, I'm pretty confident that's a violation; it looks similar to other blatant pastes I saw in that investigation, and sentences like "Reece recently reunited with Nike as a spokeswoman, and she is a new expert and writer for Yahoo-Health" are pretty suspicous Moneytrees🌴Talk🌲Help out at CCI! 00:41, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you have inserted Creative Commons licensed text into Wikipedia, as you did at W. You are welcome to import appropriate Creative Commons licensed content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Compatibly-licensed sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any Creative Commons content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. Moneytrees🌴Talk🌲Help out at CCI! 14:50, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

Zvezda (ISS module)
Fair enough if you dislike the direct copying of material from the Spaceref site.
But I fail to see the need for totally erasing my article update without warning, which means (as opposed to a mere "revert" which would have given me the chance to correct) I cannot rewrite / reformulate the information that I added!
Now I have to waste another hour trying to remember from scratch the important missing details regarding life support, propulsion, ECLSS for that space station module.
What exactly is your point?

Hi Moneytrees, hope you've recovered from the baptism of fire that was your RfA .... anyway, can you quickly take a look at this newly created article. It looks like a copyvio, but earwig gives a very low score of 1% on it. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 18:57, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
- Ritchie333, Hey Ritchie, nice to see you. Honestly, things have been pretty laid back since the rfa, the copyright area is pretty uncontroversial since we're all on good terms with each other. The initial article was mostly copied from the source, before it was reworded and cleaned in these two edits. The copypatrol report is just the source compared to the infringing edit, not the current article, which is why earwig said there was nothing. Copyright and the Fair Use doctrine
I am aware of copyright laws. To remind you of the Fair Use Doctrine, here is what Wikipedia says about it.
"Fair use is a doctrine in the law of the United States that permits limited use of copyrighted material without having to first acquire permission from the copyright holder. Fair use is one of the limitations to copyright intended to balance the interests of copyright holders with the public interest in the wider distribution and use of creative works by allowing as a defense to copyright infringement claims certain limited uses that might otherwise be considered infringement.[1] Like "fair dealing" rights that exist in most countries with a British legal history, the fair use right is a general exception that applies to all different kinds of uses with all types of works and turns on a flexible proportionality test that examines the purpose of the use, the amount used, and the impact on the market of the original work. The innovation of the fair use right in US law is that it applies to a list of purposes that is preceded by the opening clause "such as." This has allowed courts to apply it to technologies never envisioned in the original statute including Internet search, the VCR, and the reverse engineering of software." [1]
Since I did not use most or all of the copywritten material and cited it using the APA method of citation, I believe, the information can be added to the profile of Sylvia Allen. I am not claiming to be the author, nor am I seeking to gain financial benefit from the content, therefore I should be able to post it and still be within the Fair Use Doctrine. I will be sure to add quotation marks in the future.
Since I used and cited information that is readily available to the public already, I do not feel your removal of the information is valid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SterlingSpots (talk • contribs) 03:00, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
- SterlingSpots, Please read our guidelines on the use of non free content; we unfortunately have to be stricter than most when it comes to fair use. Moneytrees🏝️Talk🌴Help out at CCI! 16:52, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Copyvio you removed
Hi Moneytrees, thanks for cleaning up the copyvio here. Given that the editor who added it has 6000 edits and 14 years tenure, though, I do wonder if the newbie warning you gave them is quite enough. They've been here longer than the two of us combined; they ought to know what they're doing. Vanamonde (Talk) 16:00, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
- Vanamonde93, (sorry for the delay!) The reasoning behind that was that they already received a stronger worded copyright warning, so a kinder more informative notice might do better. But if I see another copyvio from them, they're being indeffed and a CCI will have to be opened. Moneytrees🏝️Talk🌴Help out at CCI! 22:15, 13 August 2020 (UTC)
