The West Country Challenge

edit

Hi, Are you going to join in at: Wikipedia:WikiProject England/The West Country Challenge. I'd particularly appreciate your help with getting the right things included in the core articles & missing articles lists at this stage as we are still preparing for the contest.— Rod talk 20:41, 7 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Rod. I'm sorry, but I'm busy in real life for the next six weeks, so I don't see myself finding much time for this. I could manage the odd hour if you could point me to some particular area that you think I could help with? Moonraker (talk) 22:01, 7 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Wikipedia:WikiProject England/The West Country Challenge will be run from August 8-28 now. A chance to win £250 as well! If contests aren't your thing we welcome independent contributors too. Anything you can contribute, even just an article or two is fine. If interested sign up at participants. Cheers!♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:53, 16 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Ship COs

edit

Rather than break out the notable commanders, could you please integrate them into the text wherever convenient? Thanks in advance.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 22:33, 30 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the suggestion, Sturmvogel 66. I do agree that's better than a list, but in some cases a list might also be worth creating, at least for the more important ships? Moonraker (talk) 04:08, 31 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
I think a list of anything at the bottom of the article looks horrible. See USS Saratoga (CV-3) for an article where the captains are integrated into the main body. It may be a little bit more work, but it's not hard, and works better if the captains need to be cited as doing something significant.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 15:55, 31 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for dropping me a note about that, Psychonaut, I thought we had a fun discussion and the outcome was fine, at least for now. I do think my way forward is the path of sweetness and light. There was a real doggedness on the part of one or two who won't accept that until the 1930s the Liberal Party was more of a widely shared dream than an organization with a cheque book.
