NRHP missing refnums project
Hi Multichill ... Unfortunately, the NRHP Focus database is no more up-to-date than the database you used to create this list. So people can't look up the refnums of more recent listings there. The only way I know of is to find them in the weekly listings announcements. I and several other users keep the tables updated with the new listings each week. This is about as much time as I'm willing to devote to Wikipedia. Recently, as I've updated tables, I've checked for listings that are missing refnums and added them. So I'll do my part that way.
I've been meaning to ask you about adding the NRHP template to photos out on Commons. When a site's photos are in a category, is it best to just add the template to the category or should I also add it to each photo in the category? --sanfranman59 (talk) 21:59, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Hi again Multichill ... any guidance re the NRHP template on Commons? Also, could you respond to my comment on WT:NRHP#formerly listed subtables re the new 'NRHP former header' template? --sanfranman59 (talk) 21:53, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- I replied at WT:NRHP#formerly listed subtables. As for the NRHP templates at Commons. I first wanted to do some automated runs before the humans start investing time. As you might have noticed, Commons:Category:National Register of Historic Places with known IDs increased a lot in size. I would add the template to both the categories and the images. Currently the template isn't clickable yet like the Rijksmonument template at this example, but that might change in the future.
- A lot of images have known IDs right now. I plan to extend the monuments api to make it possible to easily fetch these images for reuse. So you enter "82001192" and you get a lot of images of the Empire State Building. Multichill (talk) 21:16, 2 January 2012 (UTC)
MtC drive
You seem to have forgot to add yourself to the logs subpage. There is a link for that above the button to join the drive. Ebe123 on the go! (talk) 23:20, 30 December 2011 (UTC)
- Just added myself. It's a lot of work to keep track of all the files there. Can't that be automated? Multichill (talk) 18:49, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- I guess that we could get a bot. ~~Ebe123~~ → report on my contribs. 22:45, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
Bot going into unauthorized place
About your bot: So the request on commons is only for nl:, and not enwiki. I think that you should request re-approval for that. ~~Ebe123~~ → report on my contribs. 22:43, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- What would be the point of that exercise? The enwp bureaucratic rules fortunatly don't apply at Commons ;-) Multichill (talk) 22:45, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know! I hated those (and other) rules here. ~~Ebe123~~ → report on my contribs. 23:26, 1 January 2012 (UTC)
?
Just curious why don't you upload the files that are eligible (User:Multichill/Free uploads) to commons ? Am I missing something here. Mlpearc powwow 02:47, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
- Because a human has to check that the file is really free. A lot of files which are tagged as "free" are actually now I'm afraid. Multichill (talk) 20:25, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
Categories
Your bot transfers are creating new issues, the photos you've transferred via you bot have incorrect and even missing categories. Moving one type of backlog but creating another isn't want Commons wants. Please work away on fixing it, even if you have to do it manually. Bidgee (talk) 00:19, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- My current focus is to get lot's of free files in one piece to Commons. I'm going to worry about categorization later on. Multichill (talk) 00:39, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- Trust me, its best to do it all now and not later. It may take more time but it saves you in the long run and the added mess (on having missing or poorly categoriesed photos) on Commons is avoided. Bidgee (talk) 00:53, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- I've done this before. I'm now focusing on getting a lot to Commons. Later on I'm going to worry at more about categorization. I don't want to be bogged down right now. This is a community effort. Other people are already helping out :-) Multichill (talk) 20:38, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

Non-free files in your user space
Hey there Multichill, thank you for your contributions! I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:Multichill/Kladblok.
- See a log of files removed today here.
- Shut off the bot here.
- Report errors here.
- If you have any questions, place a {{helpme}} template, along with your question, beneath this message.
Thank you, -- DASHBot (talk) 05:07, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
Your bot
It seems your bot is removing "do not move to Commons" tags, making itself free to proceed to then move them to Commons. --Sable232 (talk) 17:25, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
- That's correct. I was moving the files at User:Multichill/top self uploaders/Sable232 to Commons. Multichill (talk) 17:41, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
- So... why is "please do not move this image to Commons" ignored? --Sable232 (talk) 17:47, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
- {{Do not move to Commons}} says that the file can not be moved to Commons because it is unfree in some way. Your files was not unfree so the template was incorrect. Now that the files are on Commons they can be used in other Wikipedias. --MGA73 (talk) 18:41, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oh... The addition made the part about the unfree disappear. Anyway when the file is on Commons it can be used on other Wikipedias so it is better to have free files there. --MGA73 (talk) 21:17, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Request for Interview Regarding Wikipedia Bots
Greetings Multichill-
My name is Randall Livingstone, and I am a graduate student at the University of Oregon, currently collecting data for my dissertation on Wikipedia editors who create and use bots and assisted editing tools, as well as editors involved in the initial and/or ongoing creation of bot policies on Wikipedia. As a member of the bot community and bot operator, I would very much like to interview you for the project at a time and in a method that is most convenient for you (Gchat, another IM client, Skype, email, telephone, etc.). I am completely flexible and can work with your schedule. The interview will take approximately 30-45 minutes.
My dissertation project has been approved both by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at the University of Oregon, and by the Research Committee at the Wikimedia Foundation. You can find more information on the project on my meta page.
Please let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to hearing from you to set up a time to chat. Thank you very much.

- Sure. Next couple days during the evening (Amsterdam time) using Skype would be nice. I'll send you an email for details. Multichill (talk) 18:14, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
- That would be great. I'll look for your email. Thanks! Randall UOJComm (talk) 21:39, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
MtC drive subpage
As the page is getting very long (330,842 bytes), and it's hard to write in different sections even for some users, I will be moving your logs to Wikipedia:WikiProject Images and Media/Commons/Drives/Jan 2012/Logs/Multichill. You're doing well and keep it up! ~~Ebe123~~ → report on my contribs. 01:32, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- Or just link to http://toolserver.org/~multichill/temp/queries/uploads/my_jan_2012_transfers.txt . Multichill (talk) 01:33, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not sure how you're doing the transfers, but all of the ones I randomly spotchecked still have the bright yellow template indicating that they need to be manually reviewed, and some of the ones I checked were categorized. Please make sure that you find some time to go through all of the transfers and make sure that they're complete. Sven Manguard Wha? 17:07, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- I'm using a bot optimized to efficiently and correctly transfer files which are own work to Commons. Every transfer is tagged to know what image still needs some categorization attention. Multichill (talk) 20:40, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- Lots more files needs the template removed and categorized. I checked a lot of the files. When awarding comes, we might have to dis-count all of them. ~~Ebe123~~ → report on my contribs. 23:42, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
- The goal of the drive is to properly move as many files as possible. That's exactly what I'm doing. You should wonder why one person on it's own moved more files than all other people combined instead of leaving discouraging notes like you did. Multichill (talk) 15:45, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- Quantity is no substitute for quality. You should not be comparing yourself to others either. The reason why you're moving more images is with mass-transfer scripts and one of your bots. ~~Ebe123~~ → report on my contribs. 01:59, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
