list of jewish mathematicians: add grothendieck's awards
editCould you please add next to Grothendieck's name the following awards:
1966 Fields Medal 1988 Crafoord Prize (declined) 1977 Émile Picard Medal — Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.95.23.49 (talk) 18:37, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- I attached the Fields Medal to his entry per your request; I didn't think it was necessary to be exhaustive regarding awards though. If you feel differently, by all means, go ahead and add them.—Myasuda (talk) 18:49, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

editBefore adding a category to an article, as you did to Olivia Newton-John, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Thank you. TJRC (talk) 23:01, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- The support for categorization already exists at List of awards and honours received by Olivia Newton-John. Specific referral to the honor could be added to the Olivia Newton-John article itself but due to the hatnote under "Awards and honours", did not strike me as necessary.—Myasuda (talk) 00:16, 6 December 2021 (UTC)
- You should reference it, please. Nothing keeps those multiple articles in sync. TJRC (talk) 00:45, 6 December 2021 (UTC)

Cascade Clash?
editWhat's up with adding the reference to the name Cascade Clash to Wikipedia page for the history of the rivalry between UW and Oregon? ESPN was pushing that name when they broadcast the game on Saturday, but as a fan of the Huskies for many years I have never heard anyone use this name for the rivalry and I haven't been able to find anyone else who has either. I also haven't found anyone who likes the name. Do you have any documentation that this name for the rivalry is one that has been popular over the years?
Thanks,
- James Rapson JamRap (talk) 12:25, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
- I didn't add the name Cascade Clash to the article. If you had done some simple research, you would have noticed that that name had been added in the October 12, 2023 edit by Char3290 (talk · contribs). Go bother him instead of me. —Myasuda (talk) 12:42, 19 October 2023 (UTC)

- Its a name used simply by fans to represent the historic rivalry between, the two sides, like saying 'the Civil War' instead of 'the Oregon-Oregon State Football Rivalry'. Char3290 (talk) 21:12, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
- "The Civil War" and "The Apple Cup" are famous rivalry names that have been widely used by virtually everyone for many decades. "The Cascade Clash" is about as far from being in the same category with those names as possible. I've been a Husky fan for 40 years and despite being passionate about the rivalry with Oregon I had never heard of the "Cascade Clash" until the announcers on ESPN used it on air a few weeks ago. I did a search and found it in this Wikipedia page, then saw that you had recently added it. I also discovered that it was one of a number of names that people had tried to give to the rivalry over the years, along with The Border War and a few others. A Google search for "Cascade Clash" gave more responses for a fencing tournament than for the Oregon-Washington rivalry.
- Bottom line, it seems insufficient to keep it in solely because it's one of the names used by fans. Putting it here uses the weight of Wikipedia to grant the name a false level of validity that it simply has not earned in its flimsy history. JamRap (talk) 23:25, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
