SVG files

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I see that you have discovered GlobalReplace and are converting articles to use SVG files. Please note the following:

  • You should not edit archives or old discussions as you've done here and here. Doing so can change the context of discussions and it is inappropriate in any case to edit posts made by other editors. This discussion is about a comparision between the png version and the svg version, and replacing the png with an svg makes the discussion confusing for readers unaware of your change as it did to the related discussion that you also edited.
  • You should not use SVG inages when it is inappropriate. As explained in the not adjacent to the image that you changed here, the png version is used because it is the actual coat of arms, which is the subject of the article, and the SVG version is not an accurate reproduction of the coat of arms that is in use.
  • There is no obligation to use SVG files. This is acknowledged at c:Transition to SVG which says PNGs should not just be replaced en masse the instant an SVG replacement becomes available. It is often sufficient to label the image description page with a {{vector version available}} tag, and it will be migrated over to the SVG version by editors where appropriate. Note especially use of "where appropriate". Changing archives, previous discussions and user pages, where a user has specifically chosen to use a file is not appropriate.

Please do not continue to change images to use SVG versions without ensuring the change is appropriate. --AussieLegend () 18:27, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Before replacing images with SVG versions, please ensure that the SVG versions are not inferior to the existing version. As was explained in this edit summary (for example), File:Northern_Territory_Coat_of_Arms.svg is inferior to File:Northern Territory COA.png because the RH kangaroo is wrong (it is looking in the wrong direction) and the shading is incorrect. --AussieLegend () 01:05, 31 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Cassiopeia. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Shamil Abdurakhimov, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Cassiopeia talk 08:15, 1 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Zubaira Tukhugov, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Cassiopeia talk 08:15, 1 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Akop Stepanya, you may be blocked from editing. Cassiopeia talk 08:16, 1 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

I was just trying to edit the patronymics into their names. Chechen people use Patronymics due to Russian influence, and some of them such as Shamil Abdurakhimov even have them stated on top. Others, I used Russian Wikipedia as my source for the Patrynomics. Mywikimediaaccount (talk) 15:44, 1 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
