Reference errors on 12 November
editHello, I'm ReferenceBot. I have automatically detected that an edit performed by you may have introduced errors in referencing. It is as follows:
- On the Mushika Kingdom page, your edit caused a URL error (help). (Fix | Ask for help)
Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, ReferenceBot (talk) 00:24, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- I am not sure where to reply as this is a message from a Bot. I intended the language Tamil for which I used Tamil. I would have used Tamil people if it is they that I meant. The so-called Sangam was a literary conglomeration in Tamil. NYCLover2016 (talk) 08:20, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
- Tamil links to a disambiguation page. If you want to link to the language, link to Tamil language as Tamil. In any case, the bot isn't complaining about this link. It's complaining about a URL error. If you scroll down to the bottom of Mushika Kingdom. you'll be able to see the error highlighted in red. If possible, please also convert all the other bare Google Books links to structured references; you can save a lot of time by using the "Cite" option in the toolbar: choose "cite book", enter the ISBN number of the book and click the magnifying glass icon next to it and most of the work will be magically done for you. Good luck.--Cpt.a.haddock (talk) (please ping when replying) 08:55, 22 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hello and belated greetings for the New Year. I logged in only once since the last time I edited (when was when you also left me this message). That time I did intend to reply to you but could not as you can see my edit took a long time. The method you suggested was very good and I was not aware of it. However clicking on the mag glass did not bring up any list and I put in the ISBN manually which is fine by me. For all the references through Google Books I used the option you told me of. I fed in the name of the pub/book, the address, the ISBN (where available) and the page number. Am not sure if the address is to be given (which is why you probably tagged this article). Do let me know if the address is not be added and I will rectify all my earlier edits the next time I log in. My other point is regarding the "disestablished" date. Also the text and the supporting references prove that the Nannan Dynasty went on to be called Mooshaka (and their variants like Mushaka/Mushika etc) and finally Kolathiri. Much like their mother/sister dynasty Ay ==> Venad ==> Thiruvithamkur. In fact I feel if we desire to have coherence and contiguity all together we need to club all the articles like Mushika/Kolathiri/Kolathunad etc together. - Happy New Year to you too :) You need to add the ISBN (or doi in the case of journals) first and then click the magnifying glass. (See this video for a quick walkthrough.) Re: the merge request, please explain your reasoning on the talk page (the merge request template includes a Discuss link).--Cpt.a.haddock (talk) (please ping when replying) 07:39, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Please be careful
editNot sure what you were trying with this edit and assume it was a mistake of some sort (how?). Regardless, you shouldn't be changing comments made by others on a user talk page (or anywhere else). --RegentsPark (comment) 15:41, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
Please do not revert without reason
editYou removed the pictures that I added on my edit on Muslim India. Please do not do this next time or I shall report you to the administrators for unexplained removal of images.UserNumber (talk) 20:09, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
Walls of text
editYour arguments might get better reception if you kept them to a few lines, of ell structure text. At this stage I am not wholely sure what your point is. Slatersteven (talk) 15:21, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
- NYCLover2016. I do not know whether you believe in your argument at Talk:Coerced religious conversion in Pakistan, but if you do then none of the sources used in the article are valid, because none of them are written by notable people. So, why not take the article to WP:AFD and make the case that the article should be deleted because it has (in your view) no valid sources?-- Toddy1 (talk) 15:43, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
- I have said nothing of the kind. I have commented on (I think, I am less sure now) one source. Slatersteven (talk) 15:56, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Toddy1
- UPR - https://www.upr-info.org/sites/default/files/country-document/2023-03/JS21_UPR42_PAK_E_Main.pdf
- OHCHR - https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2023/01/pakistan-un-experts-urge-action-coerced-religious-conversions-forced-and
- US State Dept - https://www.state.gov/reports/2022-report-on-international-religious-freedom/pakistan/
- A bit late as I was not in a position to reply before. With all the above saying what they are saying how could I possibly get the article removed??? How about that you write to UPR OHCHR and the US State Dept to rescind their observations and I will then take it forward on Wiki???
- Differences apart wish you and your Family and your Near and Dear for the Christmas - both Dec 25 and Jan 7 (have multiple Russian and Ukrainian relations by marriage though distantly) - and for the New Year. Hope the unfortunate war comes to an end very soon. NYCLover2016 (talk) 19:48, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Slatersteven Hello. I could not reply at that point and later too. That page, I felt makes a pathetic excuse for what is clearly religious fanaticism, and the cultural anthropologist is just an apologist for the same. The immediate point I wanted to make is that scores of very similar instances have occurred in India (in the North and West and East Zones) ending tragically for the girls. And the larger point (though outside the purview of the article) is that the instances cited in India do not suggest behavior of a "persecuted community". Yes I know my writing style is cumbersome. I shall try to improve it besides keeping my messages shorter. Also wish you and your Family and Near and Dear for Christmas and for New Year. NYCLover2016 (talk) 19:46, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
- You could have said all that exaclty how you said it here,. without a wall of text. Slatersteven (talk) 10:58, 25 December 2023 (UTC)
Introduction to contentious topics
editYou have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
