Notability of Charles Abell Long
editA tag has been placed on Charles Abell Long requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Accounting4Taste:talk 05:13, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Your RFA
editI've closed your RfA, because you're not experienced enough. According to here, you only have 37 mainspace edits here. Just because you're a visitor doesn't make you automatically ok for adminship, although there are no minimum requirements, and I've saved you from being heavily opposed.
Here are some suggestions that I would take before requesting another RfA:
- Get an editor review
- Get an admin coach
- Prove that you can serve the wiki by reverting vandalism, etc, you're probably eligible for rollback.
Hopefully that helps, feel free to ask any questions on my talk page! BoL (Talk) 05:17, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- Also, please be sure to sign every post (except for changes to an article) with 4 tildes: (

Dunbar
editRight, I forgot to mention if you have close relations with anyone that you know, like the Dunbar thing, you should stay away from those subject fields due to conflict of interest. If you want, I know someone that might want to take you for mentoring... BoL (Talk) 22:22, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Walter Ogilvy
editI rescued this, which was tagged as a copyright violation, although the book is from 1905 and thus in public domain. Could you clean this up? Your copy and paste job provides no context. Was he Baron or Laird something? Most of the places listed are redlinks. Why is this guy notable, if at all? --Orange Mike | Talk 15:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- I've nominated this article for deletion. I'll be happy to withdraw the nomination if you or someone else can establish some notability. AniMate 14:19, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Dunbar's Guerillas-- speedy deletion declined
editI declined to delete this as I assume the subject to be historically notable. However, we'll stand a better chance of keeping the thing if you can follow the following suggestions. 1)Sourcing-- Wikipedia articles need information that is verifiable from reliable sources. Please cite your source(s). The more sources, the better. It need not by an online source. ISBN's are helpful if it's a book. Be wary of primary sources. 2)Tone-- please review our manual of style. Writing for an historical society or historical magazine is usually different from encyclopedia article writing. Think dry. The more stilted, colorful or flamboyant the language, the more likely a reviewing editor is to seek deletion. 3)Notability-- You mentioned awards and decorations? These need a mention in the article, preferably in the lead. These are more important than the names of the (probably not notable) participants and what happened to them after disbandment. Keeping the article may hinge on any decorations and honors, and any historical battles/actions that they took part in. Hope this helps. Dlohcierekim 16:19, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Dunbar's Guerillas
editA proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dunbar's Guerillas, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hello. It would really be good if you could cite your source(s) for this. Otherwise, it will be deleted. We've like five days to source the thing. Cheers, Dlohcierekim 01:57, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Verifiable sourcing
