Speedy deletion nomination of Yodel Australia

Yodel Australia

Hello. I saw your note at WP:AN/I and decided to take a look. For what it's worth:

I think the article still has issues with promotional tone. Parts of it simply sound more like advertising than like something you'd expect to find in an encyclopedia. I think one main causes of this are the numerous very short paragraphs (almost like a bulleted list), which are made up of very short sentences. Another reason would be the constant repetition of "Yodel" and "fulfilNET" -- the same sort of brand-name repetition you see (or rather, hear) in many television commercials.

On a more specific note, I see no reason to cover the history of fulfilNET in such detail; the article is about Yodel. It's certainly appropriate to mention that fulfilNET is the parent company, but I wouldn't expect to read about their web design services.

There are three external links -- two to Yodel and one to fulfilNET. That's two links too many. Just stick with the link to the main Yodel site.

I'd suggest trying to rewrite the article into a more newspaper-like prose-paragraph form, incorporating both the current history and location sections. The products section might also be incorporated, but should at least be refactored into the same sort of paragraph form. Watch those sentences like "Yodel is a certified Google Adwords Qualified Company and has met Google's requirements to gain the certified status." -- if it's a certified company, then the reader can assume that it's met Google's requirements to be certified. That's empty redundancy of the sort seen in corporate PR, but not in neutral reporting. Basically, it needs to be tightened up a bit.

Since you mentioned the sourcing, I'll also add that you have a couple of solid sources in there, and I think the notability and verifiability guidelines are met. Good work. Shimeru 09:00, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

I have to say that I agree with the user above. Your new draft is significantly improved from what it previously was, but it still reads a little choppy. Try to rearrange the wording into paragraphs and prose, rather than the dot-point style of writing you have at the moment (which one would not seen in an encyclopaedia). One other piece of advice I would have is to trim down the non-independent sources, the stuff from the Age and the SMH is good for notability, but maybe not so much the company's press releases. I didn't get to see the original, but unfortunately, I have to agree, it is very promotional in tone. While you may have tried to keep it neutral, I'm guessing you are close to the company, and just don't realize how it is coming across. It does not read like an article written by a neutral party, it reads like someone in the PR department was aware of Wikipedia rules, and tried unsuccessful to tone it down a bit.--SPhilbrickT 19:59, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

i've had a look at the article and also feel that it still rings a tad promotional. I know that you ave tried to make it as neutral as possible, but I will agree with the suggestions that you might be connected with the company in some way. I've edited a couple of Wikilinks for you, and if the article survives a move to mainspace, I'll have another go at copyediting it.--Kudpung (talk) 02:32, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
