List of Pakistani Peace Laureates moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, List of Pakistani Peace Laureates, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. MfD nomination of Draft:Farhan Wilayat Butt

Draft:Farhan Wilayat Butt, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:Farhan Wilayat Butt and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Draft:Farhan Wilayat Butt during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Yunshui  07:44, 13 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Nawab Afridi (talk) 08:00, 13 March 2020 (UTC) I am agreed for removal of deletion of that page. This is true that I uploaded the profile/ article about that person without his prior consent and permission. I am afraid he can also sue me for this. I therefore request you to please remove that draft and relevant discussion about that subject.Reply

Nawab Afridi (talk) 05:29, 19 March 2020 (UTC) In continuation to our above communication. Please be apprised that only draft of Farhan Wilayat Butt needs to delete. The subject is not demanding me for removal of his pictures from wikipedia. So, please do not remove my other uploads. I have just noticed this post on wikipedia according to which my various other posts are not recommended for deletion which is not fair. When the subject has not demanded deletion of those photos then why those files are recommended for deletion. Please do not delete my other stuff which has been captured under my own copyrights and with my own camera. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_uploaded_by_Nawab_Afridi#Files_uploaded_by_Nawab_Afridi_%28talk_%C2%B7_contribs%29Reply

  • URGENT REQUEST - Dear Mr. Yunshui , Mr. SmokeyJoe (talk), Mr. Sulfurboy (talk), Mr. Robert McClenon (talk) - Please I need your understanding regarding this urgent matter. The subject (Farhan Wilayat Butt) only demanded for removal of the draft I wrote about him. He never demanded for removal of my other uploads (files/ photographs) which I took through my own camera and I solely hold the copyrights. So, please do not remove my other uploads. I have just noticed this post on wikipedia according to which my various other posts are not recommended for deletion which is not fair. When the subject has not demanded deletion of those photos then why those files are recommended for deletion. Please do not delete my other stuff which I have uploaded by spending lots of efforts and time on wikipedia.

Hello Nawab Afridi, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Valmiki Mandir have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Money emoji💵Talk💸Help out at CCI! 16:29, 16 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Photographs

edit

Thanks for supporting Aurat March article with relevant photographs. Some one else changed section arrangement in the article that is why you might have been confused for some time.

My only suggestion is to have photos visible after every two paragraph for better to keep article easy readable.

Since I was browsing your uploads on commons realized that about deletion notice so I did add my personal comment on the page. Hope it helps to some extent.

Thanks and warm regards

List of Pakistani Peace Laureates

edit

Thanks for your message re List of Pakistani Peace Laureates. I am not a "moderator" ( I assume you mean admin). I would just point out that the article is not "your page" once the article is on wikipedia anyone can edit it. It appears that User:Keith D and User:Diannaa have edited the article - they are both experienced editors and I don't see anything wrong with what they did - I can not see all the edits as a copyright violation was, correctly, removed which means part of the edit history is hidden. If you are also User:72.255.58.50 then some of the comments on the talk page are not very constructive or helpful.— Rod talk 18:01, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Nawab Afridi (talk) 18:19, 25 May 2020 (UTC) Yes, I have noticed all the comments and correspondence between User:72.255.58.50 and User:Diannaa which is not quite pleasant. It took more than an hour to trace the actual person using this system at that time. The thing is, this system is under use of a various volunteers who by and by helped us making and updating this page. I understand it is no more my page but I meant to say that it took our hours, days and weeks to generate that list and to mention each and every international peace award received by Pakistani people. The person who misbehaved with User:Diannaa told me that he tried many times and wrote the details in his own words and requested User:Diannaa to help but instead of helping/ guiding he got blocked by her. I shall try to again update the details but I shall also seek help and cooperation from admins/ editors. Most importantly, some information shared by User:72.255.58.50 has really made me worried because still in case we prepare a description in our own words, we shall be blocked (just like him).Reply

The problem is that the IP was copying text unaltered from various copyright websites. This has been going on for two weeks, right from their very first edits to the page. I have had to remove text that is identical or nearly identical from many websites. After today's additions, my spot checks revealed that pretty much everything added by that person was a violation of our copyright policy, so I removed it all. I did not remove any of the listings from the article, only the descriptive prose that violated our copyright policy. It's okay to add content such as the fact that a person received an award or who presented it or where the award ceremony was held, but that's not what he added - he copied whole paragraphs of text from copyright webpages. I do know the difference, as I am highly experienced at detecting and cleaning copyright issues. I have specialized in this type of cleanup for over 5 years and have cleaned tens of thousands of articles. — Diannaa (talk) 20:28, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I see that you have also received warnings for copyright violations. It makes me wonder if you are the person who was editing while logged out from the IP 72.255.58.50. It's okay for people to edit Wikipedia without logging in to an account, but it's not okay to edit while logged out to evade scrutiny. If you are the person who was editing while logged out from the IP 72.255.58.50, and you thought doing so would prevent copyright or other issues from being detected, you are in violation of our policy against sock puppetry.— Diannaa (talk) 20:41, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

After reviewing your recent three edits, I am pretty sure that IP was you. You have now received extensive explanations and warnings both here on this talk page and on the IP talk page. So please note, this is your final warning. Further violation of Wikipedia's copyright policy will result in you being blocked from editing.Diannaa (talk) 20:51, 25 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Nawab Afridi (talk) 21:12, 25 May 2020 (UTC) I wrote a very detailed answer which was not posted here due to some errors. I do not have exact idea why it happened but after pressing publishing changes button, I saw your another message in the same page instead of my response. Anyways, let me clear a few things here. I will have to write the same message once again along with some additional answers (as per your last comment). 1). I did not violated copyrights but few things happened because some times I fail to logout successfully due to electricity failure and power-off and today, I was more worried and now, I planned to take care of such cases because I shall have to logout successfully every time in order to secure my id. But I am a bit relaxed as well because now no other volunteer would be able to make any edits/ additions because that IP is blocked. Now all the editions/ additions shall be possible through my personal user id only. So, this is a plus point for me. 2). Being a learner I shall need more guidance and education from the admins and editors because I am not much educated about wikipedia, so the teams of editors should take an additional responsibility to guide us accordingly. No matter if you can't spend some time for correction of text but at least spend some time to guide us. 3). I am a bit confused about your allegations and warnings when I have already explained that I was not behind that matter. You have started writing "final warnings" without investigating the matter. I am a beginner/ learner on wikipedia and there would be so many people like me who shall definitely feel disappointment after reading such allegations. And by the way, what is wrong with the recent edits I have done? I have not copied them from anywhere. Those are written in my own personal style, same as I am writing here in simple English (though it is not my native language). If you are observing any mistakes in my English then you can at least point out the mistakes. But in case you do not wish to help me out then you can simply tell me, I wont spend my time on wikipedia anymore.Reply
Nawab Afridi (talk) 21:16, 25 May 2020 (UTC), I need a kind favour from Rod. Can you please check the recent edits made by me on the page List of Pakistani Peace Laureates? And please let me know if I have really violated any copyrights. Though I was expecting that the admins/ editors shall raise objections in my English but instead of some grammatical mistakes, I have received a "final warning" from Diannaa with an allegation that I was the same person. Can you do me a favour and personally check the recent edits? Do I write that much perfect English?Reply
Nawab Afridi (talk) 11:34, 26 May 2020 (UTC) Brother Rod, your kind response is awaited. I am not making any editing/ addition on that page again, till your kind guidance. Diannaa has already blamed me with allegations & warnings and I am wondering he/she is criticizing my last 3 edits as violation of copyrights (though I didn't copy any text, I just wrote those descriptions in my own words and in most simple English). If this type of response shall be given by the admins/ editors then of course, I shall never be able to perform. Just imagine, I made three edits and she quickly blamed me without any proof or evidence, and even he/she is threatening that my usder id shall be blocked. If such kind of response is a normal behaviour of admins/editors then I shall surely not spend any more time on wikipedia. It is certainly unfair that somebody call my writings as violation of copyrights though I have not copied them, I wrote in my own words.Reply
Nawab Afridi (talk) 22:03, 26 May 2020 (UTC), the silence from admins/ editors really means they do not wish me to work in wikipedia. Though my request was not a big deal but I think it would be much better if I do not work on that page. It is a weird place because one admin starts blaming allegations without any evidence and mentions "final warnings" and claims that my posts are violations of copyrights. If I really made that violation then why Diannaa has not removed those descriptions? One day he/she claims that after watching my editions/ additions, he/she gets the authority to blame me but after passing a whole day, he/ she has not removed those descriptions, may I ask why? On one part, he/she starts threatening me, and on the other part, he/she is silent and is unable to prove his/her claim. To be very frank, I can not work in such environment (especially with such an insulting attitude from admin's side). If somebody has problem with my recent edits then prove it wrong/ violation. Why are you silent after writing baseless claims?Reply
Hello Nawab Afridi. Sorry for the delay in replying. There's a few reasons why I thought you might be the same person as that IP. (1) Both of you have been warned multiple times for copyright violations. (2) both of you have a similar incorrect way of writing a date ("in year 1986" is incorrect. The correct way is "in 1986"). And (3) you are pretty much the only two people to have edited the article. Coincidences of this type do not actually happen very often. So that while the suggestion that you might be that IP may be incorrect, it is not baseless. Regarding your few recent edits to the page, they are okay from a copyright standpoint. — Diannaa (talk) 10:45, 27 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
Nawab Afridi (talk) 14:42, 27 May 2020 (UTC) Thanks for your response Diannaa. First of all, let me clear one thing that English is not my native language. We (South Asians) are not very expert in this language because we do not belong to any English Speaking country. Neither we speak English in our daily routine. 2ndly, I told you this IP is same because it is a shared computer which is being under use of various volunteers. 3rdly, here in Pakistan, we learn the same way of writing the year (year 1990 instead of 1990; you may also find another way of writing date from South Asians, that we mention date before month, like if we have to write 4th February 2020 then we shall write it as 04-02-2020, instead of 02/04/2020 as you people usually write), so it is a different way (which relate to South Asia). 4thly, it is not a co-incidence that we all volunteers make edits in the same style because we all were totally blank about wikipedia. Only one learner guided our entire team how to use wikipedia and how to make edits. We have not learned it from any institute. NOW, all I need from you admins/ editors is some sort of cooperation, decency and guidelines which are quite mandatory. You told me you have over 5 years of experience on wikipedia then why don't you update yourself as well because being an admin/ editor, you should be kind enough with learners and new commers. You never gave any positive response to any of our team members. It is quite unfortunate that we received threats from your side instead of any cooperation. You should at least understand the reality that what you are today, is happened after 5 years of your experience. You can not expect the same intellect from us because we are learners, not experienced ones like you. So, I suggest you to be a little kind with new commers. Such attitude is not suitable to admins/ editors.Reply

Hi Nawab Afridi. I have been checking daily, and your recent additions are okay from a copyright point of view. Just a note, you should sign your posts at the end of the post, not the beginning of the post. — Diannaa (talk) 14:14, 1 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hello Diannaa, thank you very much for your guidance. I shall learn in more better way through your support and guidance. Once again thanks. Nawab Afridi (talk) 17:53, 3 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hello Diannaa, hope you are fine. I need to discuss something. In our wikipedia page List of Pakistani Peace Laureates, we added detail about "Nigerian Peace Award" a few weeks ago, which is being copied by an online magazine, Pakistan Christian Post in their web-article (https://www.pakistanchristianpost.com/regional-news-details/1288) on 07-June-2020. I have mentioned the same link in reference too. I asked Monika to make some changes in our paragraph and she has tried too but I need to discuss it with you. Please check it and kindly confirm as it is not a copyright violation at our end because that website has copied our content on 7th June 2020 (which was actually written by us on wikipedia) many days ago. Your cooperation and guidance is needed please. Nawab Afridi (talk) 09:30, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hello Nawab Afridi. I have confirmed that you are correct, the external website copied from Wikipedia rather than the other way around. I have removed https://www.pakistanchristianpost.com/regional-news-details/1288 as a citation from the two articles in which it was used and replaced it with a different citation. (It's not a very good source though, so a better one is needed if such can be found.) I also added a template to the talk pages of both articles where this citation was in use to indicate that we had the content first. Thank you for reporting this problem.— Diannaa (talk) 13:10, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hello Diannaa, thank you really very much for your kind help and support. I shall try to find out some better citation source for that content. Thanks once again for your cooperation. Nawab Afridi (talk) 13:45, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hello Diannaa, as per your instructions, I have added a better reference/ citation for Nigerian Peace Award on both pages List of Pakistani Peace Laureates and Nigeria–Pakistan relations. You are requested to please check and confirm.
Yes that is much better.— Diannaa (talk) 22:24, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Images used in List of Pakistani Peace Laureates

edit

Hi Nawab Afridi. I've noticed that you've uploaded quite a number of the images being used in this article are ones that you've uploaded to Wikimedia Commons as your "own work". Normally, it's best to discuss images uploaded to Commons on Commons, but after looking at your Commons' user talk page (c:User talk:Nawab Afridi) and seeing all of the image related notifications which have been added there, I've decided to bring this your attention here since this seems to be where you're more active.

Commons really only accepts photos which have been released by their original copyright holders in accordance with c:Commons:Licensing. Generally, the copyright holder of a photo is considered to be the photographer who actually took the photo; so, when you upload a photo of someone under a claim of "own work", you are basically saying that you are the person who took the photo. Finding a photo online taken by someone else online, etc., scanning it or otherwise downloading it onto your computer, and then uploading it to Commons doesn't not make the photo your "own work". So, even though you probably meant well, if you didn't take the photo you're uploading, you shouldn't be licensing them as your "own work". Instead, you will need to follow instructions given in c:Commons:OTRS#If you are NOT the copyright holder and obtain the permission of the original copyright holders of the photos (i.e. the persons who took the photos) so that their WP:CONSENT to release the photos under a free license can be properly verified. If you did take some of the photos, then you can email your WP:CONSENT to Wikimedia OTRS for verification purposes. Unless the consent of the original copyright holders can be properly verified, most if not all of the files you upload will likely need to be deleted from Commons.

While I think it's possible for you to be the copyright holder of some of the files you uploaded, it doesn't seem likely that you are the copyright holder of all of the files you uploaded. Some of the photos of people who have been dead from quite some time, so it would've been possible for a recent photo of them to have been taken. The quality of the photos also varies quite a bit (some even look like scans), which has the look of them being taken by different photographers, and there is pretty much no EXIF data which indicates the photo were taken by the same person using the same equipment/camera. In addition, you've also upload some logs of organizations as "own work", which seems unlikely because the copyright holders of these logos would be the organizations the logos represent and their consent would need to be verified.

It's OK if you just made a mistake here and misunderstood Commons licensing requirements. Lots of people do make such a mistake since image licensing can be a bit complex when it comes to Commons. However, all of the file deletion notifications added to your Commons' user talk page is not a good thing. Commons and Wikipedia are Wikimedia Foundation operated sister projects, but they each have their own respective policies and guidelines. Commons takes image licensing quite seriously and will not host files it thinks are possible copyright violations. Moreover, while it understands that mistakes are going to be made when it comes to image licensing, Commons administrators will block persons who continuously upload files with licensing problems, even such persons are just making honest mistakes. So, before you try and upload any further images to Commons, I suggest you try and sort out the ones you've already uploaded and make sure their respective licensing is acceptable for Commons. Making a mistake once is OK, but repeating the same mistake over and over again is not and that's the point you're pretty close to if not already passed right now. If you've got any questions about this, you can ask them below or you can ask for help at c:Commons:Village pump/copyright. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:29, 8 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Dear Marchjuly, thank you very much for your very detailed message. This is not the first time. Wikipedia has removed a huge number of my photos in past with different allegations. Once, I uploaded photographs of different cultural programs (related to different festivals, colourful gatherings, customs, dances, artistic works etc.) but some editors/ admins raised their objections that the artists appearing in the pictures are not notable. Though I told them that the purpose of my picture was not to highlight any notable or unknown artist. But I was trying to highlight different festivals/ customs/ costumes/ rituals etc. But after a long bargain, my clicks were deleted. Now, you have come with a different objection and of course you guys will remove them because most of my clicks were saved on facebook (though I have complete record of most of my clicks saved in DVDs and USBs) but definitely I shall not waste my time anymore. This place is actually not suitable to me. Wikipedia does not pay me but actually I gave my days and hours to create/ develop List of Pakistani Peace Laureates but I understand now that my time was totally wasted. I shall not waste any further time in proving myself or my work because I am not employee of wikipedia. I just volunteered my services and in fact, I actually wasted my time. You may delete the photographs on immediate basis. I seriously have no further interest to stay here. Thanks to the entire Wikipedia family. Take care, Nawab Afridi (talk) 06:08, 9 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
My post seems to have discouraged you a bit, but that's wasn't my intent. So, let me try again. I'm not sure what you mean by clicks saved in DVDs and USBs, but perhaps we can try and sort out the licensing of one of the files you recently uploaded and then take things from there.
First of all, Commons and Wikipedia are different projects that serve different roles. Commons only real function is to host files; so, its primary concern is to make sure as best that it can that the licensing on the files it host is correct. Commons is a global website so it needs to take into the copyright laws of lots of different countries. Commons isn't really concerned with how the files it hosts are used or who is using them; so, files aren't really deleted from Commons for reasons of "notability". Wikipedia, on the other hand, is where photos uploaded to Commons are usually used. Wikipedia is also concerned with how files are licensed, but it's also just as concerned with how files are being used. Wikipedia doesn't really have notability guidelines related specifically to images, but it does have Wikipedia:Image use policy which governs how images may be used on Wikipedia. If some of the files you uploaded to Commons were deleted, then that almost certainly had to do with copyright issues, not notability issues. If you created (or tried to create) a Wikipedia article about something that was either declined or declined, then that almost certainly had to do with notability. It's easy to mix the two things up, but there quite different reasons.
Anyway, let's try to sort out one of the files you uploaded. You uploaded File:Akhtar-Hameed-Khan-Pakistani-Social-Scientist.jpg on May 20, 2020. In the description you provided for the file, you state that the photo was taken on February 12, 2019. You are also claiming that the file is your "own work", which for Commons' purposes means that you took the photo yourself. Did you take this photo? According to Akhtar Hameed Khan, the Wikipedia article where the photo is being used, the subject of the photo died in 1999. In addition, the caption provided for the photo states "Akhter Hameed Khan, 1973". So, if you did take this photo, perhaps you can help clear up the discrepancies in the dates. How is it possible for a photo from 1973 of someone who died in 1999 to have been taken by you in February 2019? Sometimes people upload old photos they have taken to Commons or upload photos that they didn't take but now own the copyright on; so, if either of those things are the case here, you can really help sort things out by clarifying the matter. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:29, 9 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
Dear Marchjuly, Nobody talked about copyrights. The editors talked about notability of person who was in pictures. He was a philanthropist and I seek his help to take me to the special places (to capture clicks of special festivals/ interesting customs/ colourful rituals) but the editors deleted those clicks under a reservation that the person is not notable (though those pictures were not showing any notability, those were showing rituals, dances, festivals and other stuff). The link is also here and I am certainly not interested to work anymore. So, just leave this topic. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/Files_uploaded_by_Nawab_Afridi Nawab Afridi (talk) 05:59, 10 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppet investigation

edit

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Kamalthakurbscit, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Mr. Saqib, I use public computers to work on wikipedia. It is not my concern who else use this computer or which other user ids are being login on this computer. If you have any problem with my account then simply close it. I am not bound to buy a saperate computer to work on wikipedia. Neither, I am a slave of wikipedia to follow these type of baseless requirements. You guys don't wish me to be here then simply tell me. I left wiki commons last week. I shall leave wikipedia as well. Nawab Afridi (talk) 17:51, 14 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
