Six Thinking Hats disambiguation

Is there a specific redirect you're trying to catch here? We should only disambiguate to "did you mean these other hats" if there's a chance that the user will have typed in a URL or search query expecting to read about Buddhism, but ending up at Edward de Bono. edit to Honey bee

Hi. Just to clarify why I reverted your addition: (1) only a few species of honey bees live in hives, and that particular article is generalized to features shared among all species - since talking about old bees dying inside the hive is not pertinent to most honey bee species, it would - if anywhere - belong in the Apis mellifera article (2) honestly, as a bee researcher, I'm not so sure that your supposition is correct; old bees DO die in the hive all the time, as an old bee may be able to return from a foraging trip and then be unable to get airborne when she tries to leave on another. There is, in plain fact, a special "sub-caste" of workers whose task in the hive is to find and discard dead or dying bees, known as "undertakers". If you can find a published reliable source that says that bees dying of old age do so outside of the hive more often than not, then that would be fine, but otherwise this sounds like original research - a conclusion that is not supported by published evidence. You asked why I don't add information on sub-castes of workers, and it's simple: this material pertains ONLY to the Western honey bee, and does not belong in the Honey bee article at all. No one knows for certain how the other species act, but one clearly wouldn't expect this behavior in the species that are not cavity-nesters. The only other article where it might belong is Honey bee life cycle, which is itself badly in need of additional material. In that respect, it is that the material was inappropriate for the particular article you placed it in. As for original research, it's not really open to a lot of philosophy or debate; editors are supposed to follow WP policy whether they approve of said policy or not, and this particular policy is one of the cornerstones of Wikipedia. Without it, Wikipedia would be swallowed up in utter chaos. I'm a world authority on bees (among other things), and there are virtual textbooks worth of original research I could contribute to Wikipedia, but I am 100% behind the policy that prohibits me from adding any of this - because that same policy prevents all the crackpots from destroying the whole endeavor ("I have proof that the government is controlling us all with nanotechnology!"). It's a double-edged sword, and I for one am all for it. Sure, it can stifle genuine contributions, but since we cannot have an objective and enforceable method to determine which contributions are legitimate, there is no real option other than prohibition. If you want to make original contributions to public knowledge, then publish peer-reviewed articles (which I do) or write a blog. Dyanega (talk) 00:41, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Pericles and "squill-head"

The identification of the plants which corresponded to classical plant names has long been a source of both puzzlement and fascination. I think that "Squill" is considered to be the plant now called [[Drimia maritima], which was at one time put in the genus Scilla, but isn't currently. So your addition to the Scilla article isn't quite right. I don't currently have access to a book by Raven which discusses what plants correspond to classical names; when I do, I'll check whether I'm right in thinking that squill = Drimia maritima. Captain Scarlet Template

• Hi Neuralwarp, I am writing to tell you that I have reverted one of your changes to the Captain Scarlet Template, where you changed the list order and some colour schemes. This is because I felt that the template, didn't look as interesting as the previous version, and the fact that the majority of it was red seem to correspond with the series rather than it being black. But thank you for you links to the Angel Interceptor.

• It was mainly to do with the colour change. It works well with the spectrum logo, plus it's one of the most colourful things on this website. I recently reversed another change to the template by a user who just took out the entire colour leaving it with the standard light blue of Wikipedia. So I think the template takes quite a few people by surprise when they first see it.

If you were trying to flag the first hatnote, it was difficult to tell from the article view; if you wanted to change the title of the article, WP:RM would be the way to go.
