New Zealand Sign Language
editHi, I'm not certain that it is the first in the world, but I asked on the Reference Desk, checked List of official languages and List of official languages by state and it seems to be so. WP 05:55, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Re: Mitsui Aika
editFirst of all, sorry if I confused you! I'll try to explain each and every time I changed it:
- Mitsi -> Micchi - At this time, I believe there was no official nickname given yet, and I had only changed it because at that time it said "Micchi" on the Morning Musume page.
- Micchan -> Mittsi - First of all, I do not speak Japanese, but I can read kana and some kanji. According to a certain Hello! Morning episode (070114?) (and now the Japanese wiki page), it said ミッツィー, so I assumed that the romanization would be Mittsi.
- Mittsi -> Micchi - After I changed it on Mitsui's page, I went ahead and changed it on the Morning Musume page, but I've been told there by an anonymous user that there is no 'tsi' sound in Japanese, and it's substituted for by 'chi'.
I agree that we shouldn't put it there if we cannot be 100% sure, but there is actually "proof" since it was broadcasted on Hello! Morning (and is on the Japanese wiki, if that actually counts as proof), so I am rather confused as to what we should do :S. -- Tydus Arandor 21:03, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
I was a bit unsure about Micchi being used, actually, since the anonymous user had also mentioned 'si' does not exist and I recall that Yoshizawa's nickname was Yossi, but of course I didn't know enough to back it up. I think the best way to go around it would be putting the reason that we came up with in Mitsui's talk page and put a hidden comment in the article itself regarding any further changes to the nickname. -- Tydus Arandor 03:53, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Re:Gordon Brown
editThank you mate for the info update. in Cantonese the "official translation" by British Gov is "白高敦", not the Chinese "standard version" of "戈登布朗" - I have entered the first one. Ciao !! Mori Riyo (美女森理世) 10:34, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
editHello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 21:57, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Disambiguation link notification for June 28
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mount Turnbull (Arizona), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Graham County. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

editUser Page issue
editFYI, your {{babel}} module on your user page is causing the page to populate redirected categories. You should consider examining the code on the page and make any necessary repairs. Best, UnitedStatesian (talk) 03:33, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
- @UnitedStatesian: I'm not sure what I can do. I'm already using lowercase language tags, the Babel module converts it into the wrong category. - Nikki (talk) 07:17, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
Wiki of Functions followup
editHi there, I'm a researcher for the Wikilambda project. Last month we held a naming contest and I'm following up with those who voted to see if you might be willing to provide some feedback to help guide the project.
This would be a 45 minute conversation about your past experience with other Wikimedia projects and thoughts about the future of this new initiative. I'm hoping to gather a wide range of perspectives so I'd be interested in your opinion regardless of whether you plan to have further involvement.
As a way of saying thanks, the research team is offering a $35 gift card (in your local currency) for participation. We could chat by phone or through a website for audio conferencing.
If you're interested just pick a time slot from this calendar link:
https://calendly.com/wikilambda/voter
Hope to hear from you soon!
