Speedy deletion nomination of Eric Trautmann

A tag has been placed on Eric Trautmann requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. JamesBWatson (talk) 20:06, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Eric Trautmann

The article Eric Trautmann has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Malcolmxl5 (talk) 00:31, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Joanna Dark.png

Thanks for uploading File:Joanna Dark.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 01:05, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Featured Article Review of Perfect Dark

I have nominated Perfect Dark for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. --Teancum (talk) 02:27, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

Rare

Hi, I'm sorry to have to revert your edits to the Rare article wholesale as you've obviously put a lot of time into it, but there seem to be many instances of text lifted directly from the source material, ign's History of Rare specifically. Copyright violation is a pretty serious thing for Wikipedia as it carries possible legal consequences (see the policy regarding it here) so please remember to present things in your own words when editing articles. Thanks, Miremare 23:33, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

I understand, thanks for the info. --Niwi3 (talk) 00:47, 2 December 2010 (CET)

File permission problem with File:Joanna Dark cartoon.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Joanna Dark cartoon.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. multichill (talk) 11:32, 2 January 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading File:Joanna dark cartoony.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:54, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Re: GoldenEye 007 GA nomination

I don't think it's quite ready just yet. I think the Reception section needs the most work. I don't think it flows very well. The main thing I'm not keen on is the number of single-word quotations:

the "clean" and "believable" transparency seen in glass environments. ... Generally, critics also opined that GoldenEye 007 maintains a "smooth" and "high" frame rate. ... the "addictive" tunes, "extremely detailed" explosions, "cool" shattering glass sound effects, and "unique" sounds

I think too many single-word quotes like that breaks up the flow. Personally I prefer the Perfect Dark article's balance between longer quotations from specific reviews and reported speech summaries of multiple reviews.

As with the PD article, I think that over the years Edge magazine has made a number of good comments on GoldenEye that it would be good to quote. Here's their original review, and I might be able to add a couple of comments from the retrospective article in their 2007 Top 100 Games issue, and we can also mention the game's inclusion in the various Greatest Game lists they've done (2000, 2007, 2003 "Top 10 Shooters").

Having said that, I think that the paragraph describing where the game has placed in various polls and lists over the years is very clumsy: it's just "in 200x it placed [x]th in [this list] from [this publication]" repeated several times. Maybe it would be better to do what some film articles do and summarise the polls in a table or list?

I also feel it'd be useful to add some examples of how GoldenEye was influential on other FPSs beyond Perfect Dark, TimeSplitters, and later Bond games. I remember that in some previews of Cold Winter, that game's developer Swordfish Studios explicitly referred to GoldenEye as a direct influence, and I'll try and find a reference for that. But I don't think that one game alone would be worth mentioning, so some other examples would need to be found. --Nick RTalk 18:10, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

GA kudos

Congratulations on the GA nomination for GoldenEye 007. I enjoyed reviewing it, even though I don't edit many video game pages. If you found the review helpful, please consider reviewing other GA nominations. For example, I've got a GA nomination out on The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. for which I would love to see a review started. ;-) Cheers, AstroCog (talk) 19:29, 23 September 2011 (UTC)
