Proposed deletion of Anthony James Rogers

edit

The article Anthony James Rogers has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Madg2011 (talk) 22:06, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • You removed the proposed deletion tag for this article after adding two references to this article. The problem is neither reference is considered a reliable source. One you had was to Wikipedia itself, which generates a loop of "person is notable because Wikipedia says so", which does not hold water. The other was to IMDB, which also is not a reliable source. Please see WP:IMDBREF. Since neither of these sources are a reliable source, I have removed them, and re-added the proposed deletion tag that you removed. Please do not remove it again without finding reliable sources supporting content on this article. Please be aware; I took a look around trying to find reliable sources to add, and found nothing. This person's only claims to fame are a minor part in one released movie, and involvement in two film projects that are as yet incomplete. That's not enough. Please see WP:NACTOR. If you have questions, let me know. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 13:58, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Despite my information you above that IMDB is not a reliable source, you've re-added it anyway and removed the proposed deletion template. Why? I've undone your edits. Please do not do this again. PLEASE read Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. Continuing to add non-reliable sources such as IMDB and removing the proposed deletion tag will NOT result in what you want, and may lead to a block of your editing privileges. If you're uncertain about how to proceed, ask. I'll help you. --Hammersoft (talk) 20:38, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • And now you're adding a reference that doesn't mention Rogers. Ok, how about you pause in your editing of this article, and talk with me? I'd be happy to help, but you need to talk. --Hammersoft (talk) 22:28, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hey, is this how I answer you? What do I do to keep this link? And his pictures keep getting deleted too...— Preceding unsigned comment added by No name22 (talkcontribs)

  • Yes, you're answering properly :) What you do is find reliable sources that attest to his notability. Simply because he is an actor is not enough. There's two things here that are crucial, which I've directed you to before. You've really got to read these; WP:RS and WP:NACTOR. As for the images, they keep getting removed because as I explained above, they are copyright violations. You can't take an image from IMDB, claim it as your own, and upload it to Commons. That violates copyright. --Hammersoft (talk) 00:10, 30 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Cool. Sorry on delay in responses, I saw your comments and was trying to fix everything while being too stupid to respond. Ha. I took the IMDB photos and he's a big comedian https://www.facebook.com/afrstl

  • Can you provide any proof that you took those images? As is, there's no way to verify this is the case. To us, it simply looks like they were taken from IMDB. You should have a read through WP:DONATEIMAGE. Also, if he's a "big" comedian, I'm sure you can find reliable sources (and Facebook, other wikis, IMDB do not count as reliable sources) attesting to his fame as a comedian. I looked around and found nothing. --Hammersoft (talk) 12:34, 30 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sure on proof, how would you like me to prove it? And Anthony's Facebook is verified, which is what they do for public figures and what in today's world consider people in the industry, which is why I linked it. Under normal circumstances, I definitely wouldn't use Facebook as an example.

Should I find press links or something? Since links to info about his movie on Netflix and the Netflix link itself isn't enough proof.

  • That a facebook page is verified as belonging to a particular person does not make that Facebook page a reliable secondary source. Have a look at WP:FACEBOOK, and also understand WP:SECONDARY. Think of it this way; let's say I claim I'm famous. So, I make a Facebook page, prove it's me that made the page, and then I have a friend make an article here on Wikipedia about me, using that Facebook page as "proof" that I am notable. See the problem? Just because I am saying I am famous doesn't make me famous, and having a Facebook profile proves nothing except that I know how to make a Facebook profile. Try finding reliable secondary sources. For example, go to news.google.com, and see what you can find about him in news articles. I tried doing this and came up with nothing. Maybe you can find a search that will reveal sources that attest to his notability. As is, he's simply a minor actor. Have a read through WP:NACTOR. --Hammersoft (talk) 14:08, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Images you have uploaded to Commons

edit

Twice now you have uploaded images to Commons under the claim that these were your images. They have been taken from IMDB. Please understand you can not take images from a website somewhere on the Internet, claim them as yours, and upload them to Commons. We do not permit this behavior as it violates copyright. The act of downloading and re-uploading of the image to another site does not transfer copyrights from the author to you. Please stop this behavior. Proposed deletion of Anthony Rogers presents

edit

The article Anthony Rogers presents has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails WP:V, depends on original research.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Watch This Movie moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Watch This Movie, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
