Over there you wrote, "A full QPQ review was not provided by the nominator (here). A proper QPQ review needs to be performed before this can move forward." Now that I have performed one, can we please move forward with my DYK? We're running out of time. Kailash29792 (talk) 07:58, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

Hi Kailash29792: I may not revisit the discussion at this time, but as you noticed (per the Thanks notification I received from you), I have tagged the nomination as needing a full review. North America1000 08:07, 31 December 2016 (UTC)

Hi NA, one of our esteemed colleagues who works a lot in Indian cinema articles, Kailash29792, is interested in getting Template:Did you know nominations/Alibabavum 40 Thirudargalum (1956 film) up and running by 17 January, the 100th birthday of Indian actor M. G. Ramachandran. He's asked me to take a look at the DYK nomination, but I haven't the first idea how the DYK process works, so I don't know how I can help out. Is there any way that I could impose upon you to highlight whatever steps remain to get this thing up and running so at least Kailash has a checklist? And would there be any way you might consider keeping an eye on the process so that it has a chance to succeed in time for the 100th bday? I'd consider it a favor, since I have no other idea how to get this thing moving for him. Thanks, and if you don't have time, I understand that as well. Regards and happy new year, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:37, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) actually, NA did what he could, but that didn't help gain a new reviewer (the original reviewer, Captain Assassin hasn't edited in over a week). Kailash29792 (talk) 04:42, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
N.b. @Cyphoidbomb and Kailash29792:   Resolved. After the above was posted, Yoninah provided a review that approved the submission (diff). North America1000 22:33, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sherilyn Reyes-Tan

Hi there. I see you're taking a semi-wikibreak, but thought I'd throw this out there on the off chance you check in. I had placed the above article up for an AfD, but another user (not the article's creator) has moved the article to draftspace. However no mention was made on the AfD discussion... not sure how to proceed, thought you might. Oh, btw, Happy New Year. Onel5969 TT me 22:01, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brandon Schmidt (ice hockey)

You closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Brandon Schmidt (ice hockey). Did you close this as NN or Hoax? Your answer affects Puerto Rico Ice Hockey League and San Juan Ice Dogs. Agathoclea (talk) 14:28, 1 January 2017 (UTC)

  • Hi Agathoclea: The discussion was closed with a majority of the weight of the subject being non-notable, as per the nomination for deletion. Two users stated that it is a hoax, but only one user provided some, but not absolutely conclusive evidence; the other user simply stated "looks like a hoax". Two users called for speedy deletion, with one stating it qualified per WP:A7 and another stating "... article is made up nonsense and should have been speedy deleted". Ultimately, while AfD discussion closures are not based upon an !vote count, the majority of users stated that the subject does not meet notability guidelines. I would need more evidence of the subject being a hoax to feel comfortable closing the discussion specifically as such. North America1000 05:46, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
I will write up an AfD for the remaining articles once I have time to write an expose of "sources" used there and in the already deleted article. Might be a while as I have currently a larger project with deadlines Agathoclea (talk) 07:18, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
N.b. Agathoclea: I prodded Puerto Rico Ice Hockey League yesterday because source searches did not provide any significant coverage in reliable sources to qualify topic notability. North America1000 20:56, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Proding might take care of it painlessly. Thanks. Agathoclea (talk) 20:59, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

Proposal to be admin on my profile

Please, I want to be an admin because I am active on English Wikipedia. cyɾʋs ɴɵtɵ3at BULAGA!!! 10:12, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

  • Hello Cyrus noto3at bulaga: For starters, I recommend reading Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship, particularly the "General advice for nominees" section. Wikipedia:Administrators also provides useful information. Users interested in adminship need to demonstrate a general need for access to the admin toolset. You're a relatively new user having begun editing under your registered account since early October 2016, so if you were to run for adminship, you may encounter opposition for lacking overall experience in areas that administrators manage. What type of administrative duties would you be interested in? North America1000 23:39, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Editing the RfC listings

Please don't make edits like this, this, or this. It's a bot-built page; Legobot (talk · contribs) updates it hourly based upon what it finds on other pages, and when doing so it ignores the current contents of the RfC listing (this is a useful anti-vandal measure). The syntax of the {{rfc}} template is critical too; to get an RfC listed at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Wikipedia policies and guidelines, you need to add the |policy parameter to the existing {{rfc}} template, and it needs to be before any existing |rfcid= parameter. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:46, 14 January 2017 (UTC)

So, I made this edit with this result. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 00:07, 15 January 2017 (UTC)

@Redrose64: Thanks for the fix. I have taken note of of where the parameter goes when adding new topic areas to the rfc template for future reference (before the rfcid). Your edits are all it took to get it done right! North America1000 11:13, 15 January 2017 (UTC)

Hey Mark Miller: Yep, still around. Regarding the attribution notices on the talk pages, you're welcome. I figured I'd just get it done, rather than ask you to do it, etc. For future reference, the bare minimum for copy/move attribution is to state in edit summaries that content is being copied/moved, including the links to the articles. Edit summary examples include: "Moved content here from foo" for the target and "Moved content to foo1" in an edit summary in the article where content is being moved from. Anyway, hope you're doing well, and happy editing. North America1000 07:11, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
Yeah. I forgot to add it in edit summary. And when I came back you had done it. I understand the process, it's part of the merge process and I had to research the ins and outs to document the Project process at Wikipedia:WikiProject Merge. So..there is really no excuses for my not taking care of it as I worked. I just wasn't able to even get a talk page up so thanks for that as well.--Mark Miller (talk) 21:40, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi Brianhe: I may hold off on that, because another user recently tagged the article with the globalize template. If sources are available about the topic in other countries, then it may not fit in neatly within the scope of "U.S. only", or being primarily a U.S.-based topic. Re List of 2017 Women's March locations

Point taken. I guess when I am trimming, removing OR, removing unreliable social media sources, etc, and I see an empty section I guess I was just including that as part of wikifying. I take your point. If you think that the editors need more time and that it is not a mistake then I will certainly follow your advice. Apologies for any inconveniences or extra work on your part. Yours, Quis separabit? 07:22, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

Mark McKenna

Undoing Although the deletion was probably valid (I guess there's some minor actor with the same name), an article entitled Mark McKenna is a legit redlink as the comics inker has been around for a few decades and had a lot of work. I'm rolling back a lot of these removals but I want you to know that I realize that they aren't vandalism or inappropriate as such. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 02:06, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

  • @Koavf: No problem. I was not aware of the comics illustrator named Mark McKenna, so it makes sense to restore the link in comics-related articles. Thanks for your attention to detail regarding this matter. Perhaps you should consider creating a new article for this subject, if he is notable. North America1000 02:29, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

Nissan Caravan hat note debate

Hi Northamerica1000 There is a lenghty debate about a hat note on the Talk:Nissan Caravan page. Essentially the debate is around the need for a hat note because there is another make of vehicle, a Dodge, with the Caravan model. Those for the hat note say that it would be helpful to have a hat note indicating that there is more than one manufacturer with a model called a Caravan. Those of us who do not agree suggest that as there is a disambiguation page for the term Caravan this should be sufficient because it is unlikely readers who are unaware of a vehiles ake would arrive at either the Dodge or the Nissan pages without first going through the Caravan page. We have suggested that the hat note does not reach the threshold to meet WP:hatnote. My thought is that a compromise solution, while not ideal, may be to leave the hat note as something along the lines For other makes of vehicle with the same name see Caravan]] I would like some guidance as to whether this could be an appropriate answer. NealeFamily (talk) 10:10, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

  • Hi @NealeFamily: While I may not become in involved in the massive debate occurring at the Nissan Caravan talk page, your idea seems like it would be fine to me. Whether or not others agree with it is another matter. Hatnotes can be custom-made. See examples below. I prefer the latter (less wordy). North America1000 15:23, 2 February 2017 (UTC)
For other makes of vehicle with the same name see Caravan § Automobile models

OmarGosh

Well the thing is ... the draft was presumably the same as the article deleted at AfD, and you all were considering doing a move and re-delete concerning that material. And the editor has now copied and pasted the draft contents to OmarGosh. So the article deleted via AfD exists again no matter which way you slice it. I'll leave you admins to sort the matter out, but since you were talking about deletion ... Yngvadottir (talk) 22:27, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

  • Hello @Yngvadottir: Yes, the content that was deleted from OmarGoshTV is the same as content presently at OmarGosh.
  • Just to be clear, the present content at OmarGoshTV consists of content that existed before the article was rewritten to be about the subject OmarGosh while the article was being discussed at AfD.
  • Since the article is now in main namespace, I have redirected the draft article at Draft:OmarGosh to OmarGosh.
  • At the talk page discussion here, I did not opine to move the content and then delete it. I stated the following (verbatim) (diff):

In re the idea above by Premeditated Chaos about moving some content to OmarGosh and then deleting it, I'd just leave it as-is at this point. I'm not saying that the delete !voters are incorrect regarding the latter subject's notability, but this could be perceived as a fait accompli decision regarding the matter, based upon a deletion discussion for this subject that only occurred between 30 January 2017 to 31 January 2017 (they typically run a full seven days). Just my 2¢.

  • If you feel that the OmarGosh is not notable, as others did, feel free to nominate it for deletion at AfD. It would be best for a close to be made after a full seven days have occurred in such discussion, if you choose to nominate it. This is typically the standard time period at AfD before deletion occurs.
  • Hope this helps out. North America1000 01:27, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
Not really, frankly; I'm glad OmarGoshTV is reconstituted, but I thought the 3 of you were agreeing the Omar Gosh article, the one it can be argued was really deleted after AfD, should stay deleted? And the current Omar Gosh article appears to be a cut and paste, although since the draft may be one-author, I guess that's all right. I'm still figuring G4, and at least a note on the talk page, but I guess I'll leave it to you and to anyone who feels like AfD'ing a second time ... Yngvadottir (talk) 05:21, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
Pinging Drmies and Adog104 since they opined for deletion of the OmarGosh article and have been involved in this matter. If anyone wants to renominate it for deletion, go for it. I'm not particularly involved in terms of researching the subject's notability. Have at it if you'd like. North America1000 12:56, 3 February 2017 (UTC)
Thanks NA. OmarGosh is not notable and should be deleted. Whether it should have stayed deleted or not, yeah, maybe, but the hijacking has thrown us all off. Tell you what, I'll nominate it. Drmies (talk) 17:00, 3 February 2017 (UTC)

A bit of help

@JNW: I will need more context here about what you are advancing to figure out how I could be of assistance. North America1000 17:33, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
