Heh, we've been busy, haven't we? Thanks for correcting things, I've only just started as a wikipedian(or whatever you call that). But I saw you changed some song titles which had only caps, like [DIS]. That's because it's the official title, so I changed some of those back again(and some others too). I've completed almost all of the singles, will do the missing ones soon.

Article "SKIN band"

There is no official information, or any major media publication that states this band is a "supergroup", only one member has achieved some sort of major success in their native homeland. Hiya. Ive just created a new (and better, imo) userbox for soulseek and i thought is share it. you can look at it here. this new box allows you to share your soulseek username in the box itself. also, it adds your userpage to a category called "soulseek users". if you dont like the box but you want to be in the catergory just add [[Category: Soulseek users]]. anyhoo, just thought id let you know. -(chubbstar)talk | contrib | 06:17, 27 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dir en grey songs

edit

Hi there. I just returned all the Dir en grey singles to the category:Dir en grey songs. Since you reverted those edits in late June, I'd like to be clear why I did that. There was a massive switch of all "Singles by artist" categories recently which ruled that all articles about singles would go under the category:Songs by artist subcategories. So even if a single contains other songs (most do), it goes under the Songs category of that artist. That cool?--Mike Selinker 16:08, 5 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oooh, sorry. I haven't heard about that yet. I can go in and revert that. I was just putting them nunder albums becuase it seemed to help put them all into one place.--Jake 17:04, 8 August 2006

a knot

edit

Hi Jake,

About the a knot-specific releases we discussed earlier: While it's certainly nice to have information regarding these exclusive releases, an own article for the club seems like overkill. I browsed through the articles of several bands from different countries and of varrying popularity (that's what I usually do when trying to evaluate something for the Deg article) and didn't find a single article specifically for a band's fan club. Not even Metclub (by Metallica), which is rather well known/active, I believe. In any case, the a knot-exclusive releases which are mentioned on Deg's official site are also mentioned in the various videography-related articles. [1] [2] [3] There isn't really much more to write about until (well sourced) information regarding other exclusive releases surfaces.

Anyway, thanks for your appreciation of my contributions and your work on Wikipedia in general. :)

Take care

Sources for Deg fan club DVD

edit

Hi, are there any sources for this new DVD release which could be added to the article? The track listing is also a little confusing, as it mentions disc one and then disc three. Maybe the Inward Scream concert is on disc two? By the way, thanks for not jumping on the "it's Dir en grey, everything has to be capitalized!"-band wagon. License tagging for Image:Kaory Music&People.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Kaory Music&People.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:08, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

12012

edit

Your edits and reverts to 12012 removed macrons from the article, which must be used for Japanese terms per WP:MOS-JP. Moreover, your reverts of my edits to the Depression Sign article also removed the category I added, as well as other good faith contributions, for which you did not cite a single reason. The band has been referenced by numerous sources (including those referenced in the article) as being a visual kei group (as also stated in the Japanese wiki), therefore your removal of such referenced content without citing a single reason and further reverting of this material is quite surprising and questionable, to say the least. In the introduction, as the translation of the two Japanese terms sourced in the article are unofficial, literal translations, they cannot be prioritized per WP:OR and therefore the original terms must be used in this case, due to it being sourced and referenced. You also modified the romanization of the rōmaji for the article's title and reverted, again, without citing a single reason for this, even though macrons must be preferred for the transliteration of Japanese titles per WP:MOS-JP. While the case of capitalizations can be made for certain titles, like Pistol, with which I agree with you and retained in my recent edits to the article, some cannot and have to be brought into question, for example, your capitalizing the first letter of "sign" and "kanzenban", for which you did not provide any sources, again. Please see Help:Reverting and do not revert the good faith edits of other users. Thank you. ···巌流? · Talk to Ganryuu 10:00, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your revert of good-faith contributions, again, to the same article, is against the policies of reverting and assuming good faith. Your removal of verified content from the article, such as the date and location of birth, is completely unjustified and further is not tolerated on Wikipedia; articles regarding living people should have such details as date and location of birth, so your removal of such content is unjustified. Please refrain from reverting the good-faith edits of other users and constantly reverting other edits simply because you disagree with things such as formatting, etc. ···巌流? · talk to ganryuu 18:24, 16 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Dir en grey birth dates and names

edit

Personally, I would probably look at the scans of this pamphlet and photos/stories about said autographs and and accept them as the real deal - why should anyone want to mess with the data they provide? But as editors, I don't think we can consider either of them reliable sources. as they are not beyond the shadow of a doubt to not have been somewhat falsified (and the pamphlet probably never achieved wide enough circulation, so that people could easily verify what's on the actual copies and what not). While we assume good faith from our fellow editors (and that surely does wonders for our working climate), we have to remain skeptical when it comes to the "outside" world and the sources it provides.

Anyway, could you still upload those scans for me? - Cyrus XIII 11:37, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:MTH Promo Picture.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:MTH Promo Picture.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Fair use rationale for Image:Dir_en_grey_Yarouze_cover.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Dir_en_grey_Yarouze_cover.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Antic Cafe

edit

Now I'm going to have to move the page An Cafe back to Antic Cafe - they've said over and over in interviews (at least two in English published on the web) that their original name was going to be Athletic Cafe, then they were looking in the dictionary and saw Antic and changed it to Antic Cafe (which makes no sense, it's Engrish, but hey). I'm still a strong believer in the "research yourself before removing it". I've got so many articles that need to be sourced already - it would be helpful if other people worked on it too. Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Maximum the Ryo (C)Mimikajiru.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. Screaming Birthday

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Screaming Birthday, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Screaming Birthday. -- Jeandré, 2008-01-17t12:09z

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Unsraw - Screaming Birthday.png)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Unsraw - Screaming Birthday.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Insult Kiss Me

edit

Just a friendly note on Insult Kiss Me. The two sources in the article are not enough to establish notability, and more sources are needed. [9] is a site primarily to sell the album, and normally these links are to be avoided. [10] is taken mainly from the band's official web site, and thus is not independent of the subject. --Fabrictramp (talk) 00:17, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why are you changing things to caps that should not be changed?

edit

Japanese titles do not capitalize in romaji like English titles, therefore, your re-capping of Subarashiki is incorrect. MSJapan (talk) 01:25, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, I missed vocals, but is there really a need to link it to something? I'd consider it excessive. Moreover, I've read MOS-JP, and it simply doesn't address the capitalization issue properly - it avoids it altogether, and says nothing about following English convention. It is also not true that there is no capitalization system in Japanese for romaji. There is the Monumenta Nipponica style sheet (which is the standard for academic articles dealing with Japanese topics) and the SWET Guide (the same thing, but for journalists), both of which advocate initial caps only, because to cap like in English means you make mistakes by capitalizing nonessential words (we don't cap of" in English, and shouldn't, in the same fashion be capitalizing things like "no" and other particles in Japanese. I will open a discussion on the MOS page. MSJapan (talk) 13:24, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:B and W album.png

Thanks for uploading Image:B and W album.png. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 17:29, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The Marrow of a Bone

edit

Its only a cover of a limited edition and not a deluxe edition. Usually, for fair use images like that, deluxe covers are only allowed and the main cover, except for some considerable circumstances like a limited edition cover is being discussed heavily in the article that its inclusion would increase reader's understanding. About the tracklisting, prose should be first, therefore, lists and tables should go after it. I saw you put it back. =) --Efe (talk) 05:31, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Maximum the Hormone discography

edit

It is proper to use the original Template:Nihongo in most of these cases, because several of the items are transliterated into English. Most of the items should normally be translated, unless they are sold in the English market under their Japanese transliterated titles. Additionally, it allows for the insertion of the release date into parentheses, instead of using multiple parentheses to do so. Also, in the instance of the song "Hōchō Hasami Cutter Knife Dosu Kiri", if you check their website, you will see that the words are crossed out. On the Japanese Wikipedia article, this is emulated with the strike-outs. I have repeated this emulation here.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 21:49, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

The issue with the continual use of the standard Nihongo template is that it inserts many redundant notifications of foreign text. The initial use of Japanese text can justify the Nihongo template, however a Nihongo2 template is what should be used in subsequent instances. That template was designed with that specific purpose, and I'm certain that the manual insertion of parentheses isn't much more difficult than remembering how to execute a complete Nihongo template.. As the use of struck text, that is a simple instance of stylisation in a song title. It is the same as TITLING SONGS IN ALL CAPS, or ~Using~Tildes~ everywhere, as opposed to the simple hyphen (-). The striking of kanji in particular makes them difficult to see, especially in a standard browser font size, thus disturbing the purpose of including the kanji. Striking out this text is just irrational fancruft, important to a minute fraction of the bands sphere of influence. If you have a well supported rebuttal, or would like an outside opinion, please contact me again. I will revert the changes again in due time if nothing occurs. Regards. --Jacob Talk 23:37, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Fancruft? That is how the official text is written. And the tildes generally refer to the use of a subtitle, which is done in parentheses or a colon in English songs. And for the use of Template:Nihongo, you only do that to each initial use of that particular name in the text. I've never seen it used in the context you state, which is only once, and then just Template:Nihongo2 for each subsequent piece of Japanese text, which may be different from the initial one. I've removed the struck-out text, however the templates should be kept as is.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 23:46, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
On the use of the templates (from Wikipedia:Manual of Style (Japan-related articles)):

Generally, Japanese script for a word can be added to the text the first time it is introduced, provided that the word is not linked to another article on the English Wikipedia. In that case, the linked article should be edited to show the Japanese script in the opening line, if the text is not already there. Japanese script should only be added once per word in an article, and not added when it already exists in a separate linked article, with exceptions noted below.

It refers to the first use of each word, and the page does not mention that the transliteration should not be used.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 23:59, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I noticed youve been deleting information of articles on wikipedia, stop deleting, or ill report you, dont like something, sort it out, dont delete it.

If theres a problem to the formating then sort it out dont delete it.
ummm, ye i can, i put the effort into finding all the correct translations, and u delete em?i dont think so, you clear em up, dont delete em
at least im actually doing something...wat u doin, deleting stuff off articles? ye u must b rly proud of dat, u sort it out an u b proud of it
"Anon." I'm not here to protect you or him I would just like you to know that many people are on Wikipedia simply to catch other's mistakes. They edit the information or if it's to far beyond help they delete. If I were to see substantial edit errors on a page I watch I would also take the same action. Also if you are going to talk something out with a user (no offense) but you should use proper grammar and spelling so that the user knows what your getting at, after all some of editors and contributors to Wikipedia are not native English speakers and have to use translators to find out what your saying. Spell-check, Rule-check and self-check before posting. -- IvanTortuga (talk) 03:55, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okay okay I get your point, but seriously, first of all you dont need sources for translations do you since a human person "me for example" translates them in the first place, so how am i supposed to prove source to that, and second of all it just seems as a waste since i put all that effort in translations, and actually a lot of people are really curious about translations and would like to know them, and not being offensive but the edits i see you doing is basically deleting information that does'nt exactly satisfy your needs, i would think you could at least put some real effort in and actually edit them to your pleasure, i mean after all your no admin here so why should you delete usefull information that people want and need. Besides, there are many more translations to song titles for example without sourcing them.
If it helps i did actually find some translations on the internet from here: http://www.songmeanings.net/artist.php?aid=8307 http://lyricwiki.org/Dir_En_Grey
Fair enough, anyway, it seems that you know more about Wikipedia's Policys and so on and obviously it can't happen what i want so ah well i guess ill drop it, sorry for hastling you and being rude in the first place, just thought its a bit harsh removing my hard worked research but hey, guess your the Wiki genious not me, haha. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dareheaven (talkcontribs) 21:01, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oricon - on Dir en Grey's Disco page

edit

http://www.tbs.co.jp/cdtv/ This is listed on Diru's page as the Oricon chart, but it needs to be renamed the "CDTV" top 100. CDTV is a part of Tokyo Broadcasting System. They don't list how they get these numbers on the site. They seem to be most well known for doing surveys of "what is your favorite summer song" and "what female celebrity would you like to date". I think it can be included if we can verify how they do rankings but we should get the Oricon rankings up there as well. Denaar (talk) 02:27, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Uroboros

edit

Thank you for your appreciation of my contributions to this article. As for touring, an entire section dedicated to the band touring isn't exactly notable. It's like the odd times users create sections for the all of the equipment musicians play; coverage of tours certainly reserve their place in the article for the album being supported, but an entire fair-sized section for the subject doesn't really have much to do with the content of the album, besides the fact that the band went about this tour while in support of the album, the same which can be said without a section dedicated to touring. Dir en grey's personal article contains a lot of information on their touring efforts, so the more defined information about the Uroboros tour would be best suited there. But like I said, mentions of tour support do have a place in the article. Vixen Windstorm (talk) 23:41, 5 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
